The constant use of "Mr" in posts has bothered me the entire season, I feel like Im reading transcripts of Dick Vitale commentated college Bball broadcasts every time I check the board. I get way too much of that anytime Duke is on. Hopefully OAS' idea of saturating todays posts will rid the board of an annoying habit. Kudos OAS, kudos.

Nice way for the Tommies to end the season, with games against St Marys and Concordia after tonights possibly tough matchup against a recharged Bethel squad. Its strange, while they have thoroughly dominated most of the teams in the MIAC this season, they havent really distanced themselves from Carleton in a lot of peoples eyes. I see Keating and Shimek having strong games tonight, and the bench becoming more of a factor heading into tourney time. UST has to become more diverse for a deep tourney run, and I think theyll do that.

I think J Philly has your boy S^2 beat as best PG in the league.  Same team records and ahead of S^2 in almost all major statistical categories...But I bet you're just wearing some blue blockers so you missed that...

I agree your boy Schnettler is the best shooter I have seen this year(I have not seen all the miac teams). From what I have seen recently I think Westman from SJU could give him a run for his money next year. Westman still has to prove he can take his show on the road. A year under his belt should help him in that regard.

If we are calling Phillips "J Philly" that may cause problems. I prefer to call Phil Sowden "Philly." Maybe we can just stick with "Best Shooter in the MIAC" for Phillips? The numbers cannot tell a lie.

Do I need to break it down and pull out the Salim vs. Redick argument again for everyone?

I know statistically speaking Phillips has the numbers over Schnettler, and I did think youre point on Redick v. Stoudamire was valid, but I believe Schnettler is a better shooter (if only because he can do it off the dribble-which I havent seen Phillps do on a consistent basis). Phillips is a great player, and I think the key to Carletons success, which I alluded to earlier this season, but I give the edge to Schnettler based on the fact that he can create his shot. I know youre not going to buy that, but Id want Schnettler taking the game winning shot out of the two.

I guess I incorporate more than just statistics into my evaluations. I am slightly biased, as you noted, but I also think a point guard needs to be heavy on intangibles. Dont get me wrong, I think a team with Phillips running the helm would be in very good shape, I just think Sweeney has a lot that doesnt show up on paper. I certainly am not stating that there is a huge dropoff in talent or effectiveness to Phillips, just pointing out whod Id rather have handling a team. And, if stats are the definite decider, then A/TO ratio is the ultimate evaluation of a point guard. Sweeneys #1 on that list.

In either case, Jake Phillips would be a great option-I just think there is one better in each situation. Chalk up a little of that to my Tommie ties, but I think a good number of people would agree.
