Leiser had 18 points and 8 dimes in the first half. 7-9 on FG's + 4-4 from deep.  WOW good half.   He only had one assist in the second half.

Watchmen, The Gopher game had to have been a gas???

Westman goes 3-13 from the field, 1- 6 from beyond the arc. SJU4life, I'm not sure he is in Schnettler's league. The J's still score 101. never would have guessed it.

Columbia- Just watch your back when you rolling in my hood.

Side note: I think Fork and company made it pretty obvious who runs this town

there is nothing worse then proving that a kid deserves something ( westmans case against schenttler) to have him play a bad game and look like a dumb a*s for saying it.  I still believe he is in his league though.  Sure he had a bad game but....i think he will rebound and be a major factor in the SJU run to the miac championship**** i hope!

SJU4life, I hope like hell that happens. I would be the first one to eat crow if it does! Were you at the game today? It must have been a track meet?

It was a tough game to watch Sumander!!  Great game and i can't wait to see the Johnnies again.

SJU4life-  I was touting Henrichs as God and he ame out the next game and laid an egg. You aren't the first person to boast and not have the player back it up.

Glad to see SJU win again!

1 Question:

What happened to my boy Tony "the Tiger" Thrasher?

1/3 from the field, 1 reb, 3 fouls, 1 ast, 1 TO and 5 pts is bad enough, but why did he only play 17 min in such a high scoring game?

You need the Hustisford Hurricane on the floor if Hambone wants to run with the big dogs!

Well I made my way to Collegeville and early on it looked like St. John's would run away with this one.  Hamline fought back in the second half and had some chances to take control down the stretch but the Johnnies led by Craig Schafer and Ryan Lieser held on for the victory.

This game was one of the most fast paced MIAC matchups I've seen in a few years.  The Johnnies made what seemed like every shot they took in the first 20 minutes, particularly Lieser who went 4 for 4 from the perimeter and had 18 at the break.  He made jumper after jumper and Schafer was able to get his hook shot off against Kyle Foster and Charley Good early and often.  Jon DeRock kept Hamline in the game making a number of shots that can simply be described as amazing.  He was off balance half the time and just when it seemed like he would turn the ball over he managed to get a shot off and score.  Still, the Johnnies had 59 points at the break.  Wow!

The second half saw Hamline push the tempo and get a lot of points in transition.  They were down I believe 18 or 19 at one point and fought back to tie the game at 91 with about 3 minutes left on a Sam Wiener 3-pointer.  Then after a make and a miss by Matt Ohme at the free throw line, Wiener got a nice basket on a drive to put the Pipers up by 1.  In the end the Johnnies were able to make their free throws (5 of their final 6) and DeRock and his Piper teammates couldn't get too many good shots off.

Lieser finished with 26, Schafer with 24 and 11.  DeRock with 28 and Charley Good with 17.

A couple of additional comments about the game.  First of all the Johnnie fans have a long way to go if they're going to give their team a good home court advantage.  I can't remember the last game that I went to with a huge crowd who barely said "boo" the entire game.

Scott Schafer stepped into the starting five today for Paul Henrichs and did a really nice job.  He finished with 13 points.

Someone earlier this week said that Jon DeRock and Zach Johnson will be battling it out for MIAC MVP down the road.  I concur.

The Johnnies got great shots the entire game, mainly because of their ball movement, which led to 9 assists by both Lieser and Ohme.

I think that St. John's will beat Gustavus next weekend for the third seed if they can bring this same intensity and get the production inside from their post players.

Now on to the MIAC playoff picture.  If I do my math right, the winner of Wednesday's Hamline/Bethel game will officially lock up a playoff spot and secure the fifth seed.  It looks like the loser of that game should still get the sixth and final spot as only St. Mary's can play spoiler, but the Cardinals would have to beat Carleton on the road and St. Olaf at home on Saturday and have the loser of HU/BU also lose their Saturday game, which for Bethel is Carleton and for Hamline is Concordia.  Stranger things have happened, but I believe it to be unlikely.

Thanks for the report Local.  Wish I could have been there. If the J's don't stub their toe against Auggie Tech, next Saturday's game against GAC should be fun.

We have talked a little bit about the fan situation before. It is great to see the students starting to turn out for the games. Early in the year they weren't showing up at all.

During the UST game the students made a lot of noise and Sexton was rocking. Sadly, this hasn't carried over. Oh well, baby steps I guess, at least they are coming to the games.

Yeah, let's talk business, Mike. First of all, you're all done. The Columbian Family don't even have that kind of muscle anymore. The Godfather's sick, right? You're getting chased out of New York by Barzini and the other Families. What do you think is going on here? You think you can come to my Fork and take over? I talked to Barzini, I can make a deal with him, and still keep my Fork!

i know we have gone over tie breakers many times...but once again lets bring it up for a sec because i am confused on what could happen.  right now SJU and GAC have the same record.  For either team....does the game this wednesday mean anything?  Sounds dumb but think of it like this.

Lets say sju crumbles to the auggies and gac wins wednesday.  Gac is up 1 game but if sju beats gac on saturday they then are tied again and they have split the series for the year so what happens?  Does it go by point differential or since sju beat tommies and carleton do sju get the 3 seed?

Other way..gac loses on wednesday and sju wins.  Sju is up 1 game but gac beats sju on saturday and they are tied again. Gac beats sju twice then this year so does gac get 3 seed?   Does wednesdays game really mean anything other then maybe momentum?
