Kilted,

QuoteLet me tell you about another group of individuals called crazy for believing in "their team."

Don't forget that group of Ole football players in 2004 against the Johnnies...

Another good point.

If only the championship game was at SJU and we could water down the court.

Watchman - Oh, so you are counting out my Gusties already huh? As the only team with TRUE tournament experience in the league, I don't think that's very wise.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Willy- Tell me who would you rather play in the second round honestly....not UST. I would far rather see Guy Kalland and his troops across from me rather than Fritz and UST. They are both very very good teams but I just don't see UST losing until the national tourney. (After saying this I hopefully won't eat my words with a UST loss to GAC on Thursday. :) )

I don't know, Willie.....both GAC & BU are playing like they have both hands around their throats right now. That's fairly typcial for BU, but this GAC team is not at all like the past few Gustie teams. The only one that's tough-minded & physical is Sowden and he can't do it alone, plus he's been getting in foul trouble.

What's the deal with Whippler? Why hasn't he been given much of a chance this year? I know he's not a scoring machine, but he's big and physical and I would think the Gusties could use some of that. And how about the Kaus kid? I thought he was this phenom that can shoot the lights out......he's hardly played at all. Will he transfer? I would think if he wants any type of playing time in the next two years, he probably better transfer or he'll sit and/or be cut.

I think the GAC-BU game could be a real dandy. Both are playing pretty well right now, inspite of both losing Saturday and BU seemingly has realized more of a presence in their post play. I believe these two teams split this year, so this rubber game should be a fine matchup.

The SJU-HAM could end up being a low scoring affair as both squads will no doubt play tougher defense. I can't imagine a playoff game involving 198 points such as was the total points scored the last time they played.

My prediciton for the semifinals will have GAC traveling to UST and SJU heading south to Carleton.

A great week of playoff action is on the horizon.

Willie & everyone....what are your thoughts?

;)

Tough defense?? I am not sure but that word may not be in the dictionary for the Johnnies. There are a couple that play solid D but I believe they believe that as long as you score more than the other team you will win.  :)

TDT and MW,

you're officially crazy to think the Johnnies will play for the MIAC title.

Let me tell you about another group of individuals called crazy for believing in "their team."

They called themselves the Continental Congress and they believed their team of farmers with pitchforks and muskets could beat the strongest Army in the world... you know what... they were right!

They called this guy crazy when he said the world wasn't flatĀ  ... who's crazy now?

Or how about this crazy bunch of kids who believed they could knock of a Soviet team that had been playing together since before they could skate?

also dont forget about when silly putty overtook play dough for a year in their popularity contest...lets also not forget about BUD Bowl 3 when bud light beat budweiser...and one more the time vampires and warewolves battled it out only to both lose to barny the purple dinosaur

You're right! I guess my thinking was that MAYBE, as a team, they might put a little emphasis on the 'D' end of the floor. Plus, it seems that when the playoffs start, everyone seems to have a bit more of anxiety as they know it's a "lose-and-your-out" situation.

However, as we've seen with both HAM & SJU....defense doesn't seem to be a very high priority, so maybe they'll play with that "Grinnell College mentality" and just keep lighting it up!!  ;)

miacwatchmen

FB- We both know that each team can do that!!  The Johnnies are capable of going 13 of 20 from deep and burying whoever they play...then again they could go 3-20 and make it very interseting. HAM could go 12 of 18 like they were vs. SMU but then again if they are cold they just keep shooting. I think the sky will be raining on Tuesday and I can't wait.

fins- You riding the wagon over to the game on Tuesday?

Wonka's not happy. Not because GAC is the four seed...because I just got the following email from a wrestling coach regarding Saturday's section.

"It starts at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday and will go till around 9:00 p.m."
