I'd say that is about as likely as Mac football winning the MIAC championship in the 21st century...

OAS - I can fathom it, but in all reality I think the probability of it is rather low.  I will however make the same predicition that I did on Tuesday.  One of the lower seeds (Gustavus or Hamline) will win tonight.

In the latest regional rankings, I see that Carleton is #3 in the West region and St. Thomas is #8.  The question was recently asked, could the Tommies get in if they make the MIAC final and lose.  My thought is no.  I think they have to win the league championship.  On the other hand, if Carleton wins tonight and loses on Saturday, I think the Knights would have a realistic shot of getting an at large bid.

Here's a fun question to throw out there.  Which freshman will score more points tonight?  Jon DeRock or Zach Johnson?

Too bad I will likely have watch the games on webcast.

Ummm...thanks for that analysis, Loco. I don't know where else we would have gotten that breakdown. Oh, wait...

That said, the Carlies are THIRD in the latest region ranking. Even with a close loss tomorrow, the Carlies will be in barring craziness around the nation. GAC was in a similar position 4 years ago, losing to Bethel at home in the semis, and still got in. The extra spots this year will only help them.

As everyone was saying to start the year, the early in-region losses by UST could kill them. If they lose tomorrow, they are D-U-N. If they lose Saturday, they become a longshot and will be sweating Sunday night.

I just ripped my old roomie and former baller for not attending a game tonight. Does that make Loco fair game too, or do I have to take his box score analysis in silence?
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

willy - Sorry my friend, but my wife is home with the flu.  Hence why I will be absent from the MIAC arenas tonight.  So if that means you want to "rip" on me, then so be it.  I don't easily offend.   ;)

Watchman,

More like a 100% chance.  Should we open it up again about Smith's coaching abilities?  What they did against Hamline is hard to do, maybe he was trying to lose.

Loco - She's sick? What better excuse do you need to get out? Give her a scrunchy to hold her hair back as she's praying to the ivory gods and get out of dodge!

Or maybe just pull an OAS and drag her with, only to leave at halftime when she starts complaining  :P

Smith admitted in a team meeting that his substitution patterns may have been poor but he wasn't on the court playing the game. The guys play the game and Smith just puts the plan on the floor. It would have been a different game if HAM had not got 12 second half layups. I think the post players needed to help more on the drives or DeRock and Babbcock. I don't put this loss on anybody but the players didn't play as well as they should have in the second half.

PI - What? He's left early from the Eau Claire/SJU games each of the last two years, both times missing furious comebacks that saw both teams stall on the winning drive within the 30 yards of glory.

Hard to blame him or wifey though, especially when half the crowd had filtered out by the 4th quarter in the 2004 game and the old SJU guy I was sitting next to was calling for Gags' head before Kofoed went in...

Or are you referring to his infamous "small hands make it look bigger" comment from down in Beaverville by chance? That was an interesting first impression.

GAC by 3 tonight. Wippler hits a halfcourter at the buzzer and, while everyone is mocking his unorthodox form, he's running victory laps around Tanner Schieck Gymnasium.

Willy- I was pretty impressed with Wittwer last Saturday when he walked into the gym and had SJU fans all over him. He played pretty darn well for the amount of pressure. Has he played well throughout the season?? He is also pretty darn cocky and that had some of the students all over him.!!

No, I was thinking a couple of years ago when they got a motel room at that joint down 169 off Jackson ave. I think. I thought she was sick that day and spent some time in the motel. I couldn't remember if he left early. Me and TH4L were drinking Phillps out of a lemonade bottle.

Carleton beats Gustavus by 10-15 tonight. As for the UST/Hamline game, it would take something greater than the 1980 Miracle on Ice for the Pipers to win at Schoenecker tonight. Tommies win by 20+. Looking forward to the pregame festivities Saturday in St. Paul.

Interesting tidbit on the GAC team in the latest blog.

Off to kill the mob now...wish me luck.
