Regarding the current conversation about All-Region picks, I will say this.  Rosefelt, Forkrud, and Schnettler were all worthy of such honors.  Conboy is not, in my opinion.  He's an excellent player, but he plays only one end of the floor consistently and until that changes I don't think it should even be open for discussion.  I'm not arguing his points and rebound numbers.  They're second to none, but in two seasons at Macalester he has a total of 159 turnovers (81 assists) and 130 personal fouls.

On another note, I thought I might throw out this question, albeit 7 months early.  Which three teams do you think will challenge for the MIAC conference championship next season?  My picks, in no particular order, are St. Thomas, St. John's, and Hamline.

The NCAA Tournament starts today.  It's going to be a fun couple of weeks.  What will the biggest first round upsets be?  Does everyone have a Duke/UCONN championship game in their bracket?

Local, My three contending teams would be SJU, UST, CAR. I think the whole conference race is going to be interesting. The race for the playoff spots will be much like this year.

Biggest upset of the first round #15 Winthrop over #2 Tenn! Take it to the Bank! ;D

Duke UConn title game with UConn winning.  Biggest first fround upset......12 over a 5 Montana over Nevada. I have a couple 11's beating 6's too. :)

Actually, they were second to Ike. You are the stats-over-watching-myself guru, you should know that.

As for your picks...there's a shocker. Loco is on the Hamline bandwagon? Who would have ever guessed?? I'd imagine GAC will have a say in things before next year is over, though the Tommies are again the clear favorites.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

I'm too lazy to go back and do the research on this question. Wasn't there an big post that was supposedly transferring into BET? Was it determined if he was enrolled there and if so what impact will he have?

miacwatchmen - I also have UCONN over Duke in the championship game.  And I have Montana winning their opener, along with Utah State and Northern Iowa.

willy - As always, thanks for correcting me  ;)  Call it what you will (bandwagon or not) but Hamline should be pretty good next year as they return 7 of their top 8 players including 3 guys (DeRock, Thrasher, and Foster) who were all-conference or all-conference HM.  And Sam Wiener, one of the better point guards in the league and a two-time all-defensive pick is also back.

I can't disagree that Carleton will be good next year as I expect them to be a playoff team, however I think replacing Forkrud will be huge, along with Sharkey who was a nice role player for the Knights.

Gustavus also has some talent in the cupboard, but again they lose some big guns in TeBrake and Hollerich, as well as  some size in Mr. Wippler (sorry but I couldn't resist)  ;D

I hate the fact that I have watched darn near every show on the tourney and all the experts picks and looked at everything to deal with the tourney online and I still get Georgetown going to the elite 8 from some people and then oh Georgetown will lose in the first round. Its so stupid either they will win or lose but not that big a difference.

I haven't received the picture yet. For those who want an inside scoop, check my facebook picture out. It's a doozy, but it should exclude the scum of the Earth (RE: TDT) who are too old to play with such fun vehicles of enjoyment.

Next year will be interesting...SJU, UST, BU (if Moberg actually transfers), Cord (espcially if Eckhof comes back-- not likely, but still a possibility), CAR and of course you can never compeltely rule GAC out.

HAM will be a playoff contender, not in the thick of the chase at the top, Loco. That wont change until they can find some front line players. Barry has an incredible assortment of talent over there,  but they all essentially are guards.

D-1 title game will be Duke over UNC, with Gonzaga & Ohio State rounding out the Final 4. (but then again, I pick Duke vs UNC to be a final four matchup pretty much every year so take that with a grain of salt)

MM, I trust Moberg was the kid I was wondering about in my earlier post. We don't know if he has transferred for sure?

sumander-
yes, the same kid. my understanding is he is transfering this fall... of course, a lot of things can change between now & then. A few years ago, Dan Fitzgerald was unhappy at Tulane and at this point of the year, he was "for sure, definitely" transfering to UST to follow his dad & bro playing for Fritz and join his buds Rosefelt, Sweeney & Keating. Then a schoalrship opened up at Marquette, he accepted it, dyed his hair blond and is a Golden Eagle. So until he offically sets foot in a classroom, I don't think we can label him as "for sure"...but given the fact his bro transfered to BU amd liked it there, I'd say he's awfully close to a lock.

Way to go UW-M & Wichita!!!!

To back Loco, it seems that people would think UST and SJU would be top 2. The next 2 maybe Carleton and Hamline.

Hamline lost Charley Good. Carleton lost Dan Forkrud. You do the math.

Hamline will be a three or four seed. UST-1, SJU-2, BET-3, HAM-4, CAR-5, STO-6

GAC not in the top 6? I think PI started celebrating his Irish heritage a little early.
