I think Noah needs at least another year before he can consider turning pro. But judging from what he said in the CBS mic last night after the win, it sounds like he won't be doing any homework for a while.

I never thought I'd actually care enough to bring this up, but Jamie Broback leaves the U for "personal reasons" and becomes the third Gopher to leave the women's basketball program in 11 days... Is the Gophers regime falling apart?

I think Noah will cash in on his tourney. He played well and I also think he could use another year to mature but the money will come calling and he will answer. The only thing that I could think of that would keep him at UF is that his dad has money so its not like he needs to maek money to support his family.

The Gophers regime fell with Wahlen and McCarville leaving back a year or two. They obvisously compete with the other womens teams in the Big Ten and that has been evident for the past couple years. Despite the fact that they made it to the final four two or three years ago they haven't been the best team in the Big Ten in recent memory.

The coach that brought the Gophers out of the cellar, Brenda Friese (Oldfield), is currently coaching in the national championship game

Yeah, congrats to her. Another one the Gophs let slip through their hands. Usually its the Gopher men that lose star recruits not the Gopher Women losing a good coach. The Gopher men need to can Monson and start over with a new coach. Might I suggest........................ oh hell i don't know who to throw in there but not Monson.

Make that 4 with Podominick leaving. A fifth, Natashia Williams could be next. If she leaves, that would make 8 from the regular rotation gone.

Not the women's board, but the St. Mary's coach resigned. Anybody need a job?

U of M's "less than capable" AD now has two major programs on the decline....   ;)

FBB, I think two is being conservative!!! I think FB, MBB and WBB are all on the decline!

He had an opprotunity to do something with both FB and MBB and didn't! How many more years of mediocrity will it take?

My buddies at the U said that they are cutting the general college next year. That means the only way athletes will get in is through the major programs such as the IT and the music deparment and we all know that few players on the team could get into either of those schools. Puchtel would make it but he may be the only one. To bad he's gone. Any body heard this too?

the womens basketball team would have no problem getting their players into the higher colleges at the U...the problem that is truely happening with them is just dumb and i will leave it at that

rico tucker is dumber than a brick so that is probably the case for him

CMob, For a hick from the sticks please inform as to why the departures. It sure doesn't look good from the outside. Is it a skirt v. pants issue?

its just one big mess...a bit of a power struggle...people taking sides...there is no scandle like people on gopherhole are wondering and talking about...just lots of women with very strong differing opinions...its a long story and i dont have time to give the full report but thats the jist of it...im sure the whole story will come out in the next couple days...im suprised it took this long for some of the girls to say they were leaving it sounded like many of em were ready to jump ship the second the season ended.

Podomnick-to focus on Olympics
Broback-never got along with Borton, culminated with NCAA game in which she was benched last 18 minutes of game.
Lacey-playing time
Davis-???
Williams-roommate of Lacey, once she left, she bolted too.

Right now including three recruits, the Gophers have 8 girls. That's not enough. 5 have left and another, Breck senior Kelly Mullaney switched her committment from U to Colorado State.

I agree with you 100%...I was being conservative.

The problem is that this AD does not have a set of nuggets to deal with the tough stuff. He'd be better off at Macalester, or maybe back home in Chisholm.

I've said it all along.....the administration over at the 'U' is very content with mediocrity.

By the way, Borton stated in an interview today that the "issue" is centered around 'playing time.' Playing time? Broback & Williams logged loads of PT.....she is NOT addressing the real issues.

And for Dave Strommen, the ass't coach who is pursuing "head coaching opportunities." He was fired, he did not choose to go....the players favored him over Borton and she couldn't/can't handle it.

I see Colorado St. just did some house cleaning in the women's program as well. Ashley Samuelson from Underwood along with 3  other girls did not have their scholarships renewed. Samuelson is looking at UND and NDSU according to the Fargo Foolem

They better start dusting off the seats at the Pavilion....women hoops may have to move back there!

With only one player over 6 feet tall and very minimal experience returning, the wins next year will be in single digits......low single digits!!!
