What is the link to this article Willy? I went 6-7 this season in a BUSH league by the way!

And to think what that 6-7 record would've been with LT. For shame.

TommieHoops4Life

What's all this garbage about UST being a bunch of individuals? That's the biggest load of crap I've heard in a long time. So Ike has an afro, so they're not dressed all the same. Who cares?! I've been around those guys enough, and so have LBOW and snowman, and they can tell you just like myself that this group of Tommies play well together on the court, and are friends off it. Winning does that to a program, and getting off to a 6-0 start definitely doesn't hurt things. If they lose two or three straight in the MIAC, then you might have the smallest amount of legitimacy to that argurment. This group enjoys playing together, they play well together unselfishly and that's why they haven't lost yet. As long as they're winning and show up on game night wearing the right jersey color, Fritz has a lot better things to worry about than who has a tatoo or Ike's growing fro. So for those of you bashing the Tommies individual looks on the court, get over it.

Non-conference, not preseason.

I say this so much that I'm thinking of putting it on my answering machine.  :D

(Before I continue let me add this caveat, the following is all in good natured fun.  I've been a longtime fan of the Tommies & still know a few of the current crop of players.)

TH4L - As much as I appreciate your patriotism and willingess to stick up for our boys, I thiink you missed  the intent of this commentary.  I AGREE WITH YOU COMPLETELY.   UST being a team on/off court is instrumental to their success, and the costumes do not seem to interfere with that.

However, it is the player bashing that makes the MIAC as glorious as it is.   I recall getting a "Moonboots" chant at St. Olaf.  Then there are the wonderful Gusties and "Beth-heads" (a new term, what do you think?) always quick to supply a NERD chant/ OVER-RATED, etc...

And despite the MIAC sportsmanship campaign (which deserves credit for a good try) Zach Johnson and Mike Keating will top the bad haircut list, Augsburg will still run munchkin/hobbit/ewok guards and John Bain will be well...John Bain.  So it is then up to us as FANS to not get offended, but rather probe the depths of our creativity and come up with more ingenious yet ego-deflating comments about the other players.  Only then will we have truly defend our boys' honor.

Did anyone watch the HS bball game last night.  It featured #1 Oak Hill Academy (VA) vs. #2 Norcross (GA) talk about a lot of transition and poor shot selection.  But overall there were some amazing athletes on the court and all of the starters for both teams that are seniors have signed with big time college programs (Duke, NC, Florida, Florida St., USC and so on).

Back to the MIAC, cobbers will be searching for that elusive first win this weekend when they take on Mayville St.  From what I have hear, MS is good and have an all-american on the team.  Hopefully the cobbers can pull through for a win and get the monkey off their back.

Cnation,

The Cobbs better try and slow things down if they hope to stay with Mayville! They just hung 119 on Morris(of course the J's put up a c-note on Morris). They have averaged over 82ppg. They like to run and gun.

The Cobbs need to try & slow down things period if they hope to notch a win or two.  At this point in the season their TO ratio is probably by far, the worst in the league.  And looking down the road, their schedule doesn't get any easier.

That's my point exactly Snow.  And obviously, you get it.  ;)

Aside, from the usual exchange of stats, my team is better than your team, etc, I thought the board needed a little livening up & friendly bantering & I thought I'd take a shot at it.   So I threw out my commentary, "Mr. Neal Negativity" aka Willy Wonka moshed on it a bit with his usual biting comments, & TH4L dived on the bait.

TH4L – I'd be willing to bet you were one of the Tommie fans leading the jeers when the Midura kid from Gustavus showed up a few years ago with the cornrows in his head.  What the heck?!?  ;D

And Snow – be honest, doesn't Brett Tuma look like a "Mini-me" version of Schnettler?  And don't even get me started on Grant.   ;)

Drake, Were you peeking at the MIAC website again? CORD is dead last in TO margin at -7.5. Surprisingly UST is T-10 with BET at -4.00.

CORD is also 10th in Assist/TO ratio at .82. The top three teams in this category are GAC, SJU & UST.

All of that being said, I think the game on Monday with Carleton will be closer than people expect!

No, until you mentioned it, I hadn't checked the MIAC website for stats.  I've been quickly reading the Cobbs boxscores, shaking my head in disappointment & moving on to the next game summary.

I think Fritz at UST isn't quite sure what to make of his PGs yet, which accounts for some of the uneveness of the PG play.  I think one of the Tommie posters said Dwyer was injured in an earlier game, which has been limiting his minutes. When the game was in doubt the other night against MAC, Schnettler was literally running the show - bringing the ball up, directing traffic, scoring etc.  MM was more or less playing the 2G spot.  BTW - why isn't Brian Sames getting any clock - injury, still earning coaches confidence etc.?  If the Tommies want to make a serious run, they need to get this area figured out.

Snow - thats' good stuff!  ;D

Here's an interesting thing to note from the stats.  AS much as Phillips was hyped earlier this year, he is almost invisible on the stat sheet.  Maybe this coincides with Carelton's struggles.

I haven't done all the research to compare him to other PGs, but I would think he should be near the top of more categories than he is. But it is still early in the year.
