Oh golly gee, how nice of you football posters to make a field trip over here to visit your buckethead boys.   Good to see ya again Tmerton! Hows life? You need to make it back here for winter Johnnie classic!

Thanks, but I'm going to stay out of the way of people who actually know something about basketball.  Like Fins (;D)!   However, alphabets I can do.

Unlike Duffman, I actually like bball and still go to high school games here.  Unfortunately, though, it's a long way to travel to see an MIAC game.  But it was fun to listen to some of the game last night.

I thought the officiating was very fair last night. They called a tight consistent game. That game had potential to turn into a nasty rock fight. If they don't get on top of it and stay on top of it the two squad cars of Stearns Counties finest that were there wouldn't have been enough to control the crowd. A veteran crew of officials who had a good game in a big game!

Ahhhh, sounds like the good old days!  I'm still trying to find out who that St. Mary's guy was who cold cocked me when we ripped his stupid sign to shreds.

PO-
In talking with a former player that both played for Gilles and Wohler, he just said that x's and o's Wohler is getting outcoached. You can't just win with offense.

I think the problem with Hamline isn't the players. They have the talent with DeRock, Thrasher, Foster and other guys such as Weiner, but I think its the style of play. You have to coach to what you have. I'm not sure if he does that. And his rotations are crazy. Zev Kujolic (sp) doesn't see the court for xx games and now is playing big minutes? Figure out what you have against Scholastica and Crown and go with it during conference season.

Another problem with the Pipers is that they don't have an experienced shooter that can hit the big shot. DeRock and Thrasher are sophomores. You don't want Weiner, Babcock or Foster taking the final shot. This team needs a leader and I think the one thing with Charley Good was that he was a man. I'm not sure how vocal he was, but his work ethic really wore off on his teammates I believe.

DP-
The head-to-head thing is not fair right now. We lost to the Cobbs on the road. It was a long drive.

PI -
Zev K. was out due to injury.
Is is March Madness yet?

The real issue on Hewitt was, is, and will be their lack of a winning tradition.  Playing there, you look into the rafters and see an unbelievable history.  Unfortunatly that history was made over fifty years ago.

Good work Drake, thanks.

I think the fact that league leading SJU  has only one member on the all conference team is a testament to their "team" approach. They have had 7 different people lead them in scoring in a game and 4 different people have the most rebounds in a game.

If  SJU and UST end up co-conference champs, who gets the edge (number one seat for playoffs)?  Drake have you figured this one out yet?

Snow – funny you should ask that.  I started checking on this very same thing yesterday on the MIAC website & realized they don't have the tiebreaker procedures listed - yet.  Here's what they used last year & I'm guessing in previous years for league tiebreakers:

MIAC Men's Basketball Tie Breaking Procedure
1. Head to head competition
2. Results against all teams above those tied
3. Results against above teams beginning in rank order.
4. Descending order of losses.
5. Best road record.
6. Coin flip.

Sum – here's an interesting stat from the MIAC website which tends to support what you're saying about the Js.

SJU currently leads the league with a very nice 18.1 assists per game average. The Johnnies also lead the league in the A/TO ratio category at 1.50/game.  In comparison UST is at 1.25 A/TO game.  These figures seem to support the idea that right now, the Johnnies seem to be running a fairly, nice little offensive machine.

How about some help for those of us that are a little slower than the rest of you? What does tiebreaker #4 mean?
