When isnt it the toughest conference in the country? Every year, at least 3 of the teams find themselves in the Top 25-the last two seasons have had 5 of the teams land in the rankings at one point or another. And the cycle of teams at the top shows the parity of the league-even Superior has found ways to move into the top half of that league over the last 8 seasons. Youre right, should be fun to see how UST (and other MIAC schools) do against the better comp the WIAC has to offer. RF plays a number of MIAC schools, but theyll be hovering near the bottom of that league this year-they just dont have much anywhere.

As Mig posted earlier, UST scrimmaged UWRF last week and thoroughly took it to them. UWRF stayed close early by physically beating on UST, but their superior talent and execution took over midway through the first half. The Tommies were at UW-Eau Claire on Friday, and worked over a rather young and untalented club (this seasons squad could be the worst team in the WIAC over the last decade-graduation and underclassmen leaving the program have hurt them). UWEC has some big, physical posts, but the rotation of Shimek, Rosefelt and Keating at the 4-5 took the licks and certainly outplayed them. The offense looked a little more solid than it did against UWRF, but the Tommies still showed a need for serious improvement on the defensive end.

funbb - That depends on what you call injured. I didn't get out of bed today until after 11 and I'm not sure I could have earlier if I had to. I'm hurt, but not injured. Thank God.

The guard rotation will likely be AT, Olson, Hollerich, DeLauriers and perhaps little Kaus. Kane Sivesind played a lot as well, but he's more of a wing than a ball handler (he's a soph who was hurt all last year and sat the end of the bench). Supposed to be a good shooter, but I shut him down :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Freshman Nate Assel is currently starting at PG in scrimmages while Lars Johnson sits out a couple of weeks with mono, but look for Lars to start at PG during the MIAC season, with Assel backing up the PG and 2 guard position.

Looking for some predictions  let me know what you guys think (I see that Crown College is playing alot of MIAC schools this year   are they any good?)

St. Olaf vs Luther

big_shocker

I have never heard of a good Crown College team (at least compared to MIAC standards).
(Reporter interviewing Charles Barkley after and altercation where he threw a fan out of a bar window)

Reporter: Charles, is there anything about the incident you regret?

Sir Charles: Yeah, that we weren't on a higher floor.

Doesn't Luther play at GAC on Saturday?

UWRF is at SJU...think on Sat. night.

big-shocker......I'm with you; the only good Crown I've seen is "Royal Crown";

Isn't there a little guard at Crown that played HS ball at St. Bernard's? Think he transferred in this year. His dad thought he'd go D-I and he could have.....but his only position would have been to stand straight up, look smart and hand out towels to the reals guys that can play!   ;)

well ive been hearing this talk about wiac schools being a pretty good conference and that superior has even moved up in the ranks.  I sure hope that this is no longer true for this years superior team because SJU from everything ive heard literally mopped the floor against them last week.  Supposively there was a sequence of about 7 plays where sju stole it while pressing and scored!  Also on another note, but not in the wiac, SJU also scrimmaged Northwestern.  Now they are no power house but typically have a pretty solid basketball team and SJU also washed the floor with them as well.  So im thinking sju will have or maybe.. "should" have a good season.  A side not...as ive said before SJU may have the toughest non-conference schedule of the year whcih includes an average "from what i hear" river falls team and 4 div2 schools as well and in fact... they play Chaminade in hawaii and chamindae is on ESPN Nov 21 playing against Michigan State.   Anyone coming to the River falls SJU game saturday night after the football game???

c...maffia: you are quicker than ice melting on Pamela Anderson's navel. I had forgotten his name actually....isn't it pronounced "toll"?  Never mind that though....you offered a great line....and perhaps very accurate!!

sju4...  SJU has a great non-conference schedule. Regardless of how they do, it should help them prepare for the conference competition.

Megalo- I am assuming from reading your post that you went to the UST/UWEC Claire skirmish -- care to comment on the perimeter play and playing time allotment?

Pipes- Those are some dang good stats, except for the TOs.

Sju4life- "Supposively," is not a word.  I assume you meant "supposedly."  Going to St. John's is no excuse!

P.S. Pipes- Did that no-talent ass-clown point guard from Colorado show up at the alumni scrimmage?  If he did, I am guessing that is why you only won by 10!

Here are some miscellaneous MIAC notes for the board that I have stumbled upon.

I spoke with one of the Hamline coaches earlier this week and it sounds like the Pipers might start at least one freshman.  Apparently Jon DeRock, a guard from Buffalo Lake has looked great in practice, as has the freshman from Wisconsin they recruited named Tony Thrasher.

I read the following in today's St. Cloud paper...St. John's Coach Jim Smith said if the Johnnies' season started today, their starting lineup would be Ryan Lieser at point guard, Matt Ohme and junior transfer Tyler Westman at the wings and senior Paul Henrichs and junior Craig Schafer at the posts.  It was also mentioned in the article that sophomore point guard Jon Kaus has left the team.

I also heard a rumor that Augsburg has only 14 or 15 players on their roster with no junior varsity.
