SJU 76
UST 71

No way St. John's shoots 3 for 20 this Saturday from three point range, look for Brink to have a big game.

SJU09, I think all the pressure is back on the Tomcats for Round lll! Johnnies play loose, shoot well and take the AQ bid for the NCAA tourney!

Sumander - Plus, it may help to have at least 300 students from St. John's there this Saturday?  Last week the St. John's fan base was mostly "old" alumni like myself.

Pretty generous of UST alloting 300 of the available 1900 seats to SJU! :D

OAS,

Looks like I'll be able to get out of covering the most boring event of the weekend (state gymnastics individuals) so I should be able to make O'Garas and the game (thank the lord for media passes). Should be a great one!

SJU should have taken fan buses to UST today or they can still do it tomarrow and buy all the tickets they can...i think that would be funny

Speaking of crowds, does anyone know if the MIAC is done with its experiment of early start times for the men's games. I sure would have liked to have attended more MIAC games but hard to do and still hold onto my job with early start times.
Sowden thrown out in his last game? Unbelievable! Have seen him play many times and can't picture him doing something to deserve it. Unless the player is really causing a scene, sometimes the refs have to pretend they can't hear, especially after they make a bad call in a playoff game.  Sounds like the ref was trying to "show up" somebody. But then WW mentioned that this same guy refs football, so I checked some box scores of some football games I had seen, and surprise!, I now understand some of the questionable 15 yard penalties I have seen the last few years. (e.g. a player swearing as he's approaching the his own bench area after a score.)

It is spring break starting this Friday I believe. Will that affect the turnout for the SJU students. They weren't very well represented last Saturday hopefully that changes this Saturday.

WOW! A lot to catch up on. I attended the Oles/Tommies game and not a whole lot to say that hasn't already been said. Olaf played tough but didn't catch enough breaks or bounces to have a chance at the end. One example that sticks out in my mind is around the 6 minute mark when the shortest official didn't call the second foul on Ike when Banick was in decent position to take a charge and called a moving screen on Banick the next trip down, when in my opinion he was standing perfectly still. It seemed like Koz yelling in his ear to half court might have had something to do with it.

I partly agree with oAs' assessment of Haugen. He looked extremely nonchalant but I think he is a good player when he wants to be. It also seemed like his shot selection was a little iffy, like the assessment of Conboy earlier this year; he was shooting because it was his turn, not because they were good looks.

ok...im really confused

why did my last post get deleted??

im really confused on that one and i have no idea why it would be deleted...an explanation would be glorious
I don't recall deleting a post of yours. The only post I deleted in here any time recently is the first post from a new poster that felt he had to make his debut by telling an off-color joke.

HOWEVER, the entire Hall of Fame has the ability to delete posts. There are 10 of them. If they felt you crossed the line on something they could easily have hit the button. Do I want to even know what the post was about.

And nice to see WW is back to his bad assumptions. For a week or so I thought he might have reformed.

Mr. Coleman, I attempted to send you an e-mail apologizing for the distasteful joke but received a return to sender e-mail. As I said in my 2nd post before I realized my post had been deleted, I cleaned up the joke quite a bit, although I probably didn't think it through very well.

Looking forward to the game - STU 68 SJU 60

PTPer--

NONCHALANT.  You hit the nail on the head.  That is how Haugen plays and well, he doesn't do NONCHALANT very well.  He ate the ball a couple times compliments of Ike.

Hard for me to buy your assessment, PTPer, considering the Oles shot 50% from the field. Id say they got their fair share of 'bounces', as most people at the game would attest to (a lot of fadeaways went in, etc). They got outplayed, and the numbers show that. As I said in my earlier post, they played extremely hard and deserve credit for not backing down, but that isnt enough to beat a team with such a definitive advantage in terms of talent. They needed to play perfect basketball, which they certainly didnt (as pointed out earlier, with 14 TOs). What kept them from being in a position to win at the end is that their opponent was significantly better, and played accordingly. Like I said, give the Oles credit for playing hard and fighting all game, but dont insinuate they could have been in a position to win had they gotten 'a few breaks'. That sells UST way short for their performance.

bumkneez, I agree. I didn't summarize the game because there was no need. I was just saying how had STOLAF caught every break/bounce and STU missed a couple (i.e. Lonnie's 3 at the end of the 1st half) the final margin of victory would've been closer than 16, thats all.

P.S. Lonnie's dunk was ill

Also, Cmob, what is your feelings on the new $1.99 triple stack now at Wendy's? How does it stack up to the Classic Triple? After all, you are the triple cheeseburger connoisseur.
