There is all this talk about westman being a whiner but that is clearly not the case.  Schnettler everytime he missed ***literally everytime, he whined to the officials.  Westman on the other hand never whines or looks for calls.  I will agree that he may be chippy and sometimes cocky but he doesnt whine like schnettler.  I do agree that they both HATE to lose though and thats mostly why they do what they do.  I think they have a little added incentive because they are arguably the two best shooters in the miac and each want to show each other up.  Here is my prediction on why I think the Johnnies can win.   1. Tommies lack in depth and SJU is one of the deepest and can get scoring from their bench which is a huge help. 2.  Probably the biggest reason is St. Thomas isnt really that good at defense.  I can see why the auggies can hang with them because they use the whole shot clock and wait for a great shot.  Tommies do not like to play "D" that long along with the fact Craig Schaefer can score on IKE everytime he catches it on the block.  Last game sju for the most part got pretty decent looks and just flat out missed.  Until the last three minutes SJU was not really forcing shots so if they can keep getting open looks and actually make them then they have a great chance!!   sorry about the long post!

ROR, Nice job on the photos from SJU UST ROUND ll . Are you manning the camera again tomorrow?

Thanks.  First hoops game I've shot.  Way different than football.

I intend to be there.  Probably at least 2 photographers working for d3.

I have some pictures for you from the JV game I'll pass to you tomorrow.

SJU4life,

So the Tommies don't like to play defense? Then explain this. They are first in the league in field goal percentage defense (41%), first in the league in scoring defense (62.5 ppg), first in the league in three-point percentage defense (27.8%) first in the league in scoring margin (+13.2), second in the league in rebounding defense (30.1), and second in blocked shots (3.69 bpg). If UST doesn't like to play defense, then how are they at the top of the league in all these categories according to the MIAC website? You might want to have some numbers to back your point up next time you make an idiotic statement like that. You can't have all those defensive numbers be that good and get lucky by having every team miss shots. I'll cut you some slack since you are a Johnnie and I actually did take the time to look up those numbers myself. ;)

Tommies by 10-15 for the MIAC crown! Like WW, I got my media pass cleared by McGivern this afternoon, so I'm guaranteed to get in.

Uh, check your stats dude...UST is merely the MIC's top defensive team and they take pride in that.  Next, you'll be saying Schnettler doesn't shoot the three well or enough!!

Also while UST's bench isn't the deepest, SJU doesn't go very deep either...and doubt either coach will go past 8 deep tomorrow unless it a replay of last January... you DO remember that one I hope?  (And the lame jet lag excuse doesn't work...SJU was back in time to watch UST's game 2 nights before, so I'm sure they were over their travel woes)

After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Regadless, tomorrow will be a fun game. I see no way either team blows the other unless it gets out of hand at the end with free throws. UST's big three must play well along with some reserve help. SJU needs to shoot the ball better obviously but they also need to contain Schnettler. He can change the game in just three trips. Rosefelt and Keating also have the ability to change the game but Schnettler in my mind is the biggest threat. I think it will be tough for SJU to win but it wont take the perfect game to do it. Its not like SJU comes in at 11-11. They are 20-6 with a legitimate shot to win the title.

Miacwatchmen I thought this was a family board.  There is no room for inappropriate innuendos.  You are sick :)

Good humor Dunk! Nice post Watch.  :o ;D I'll see you in the YNOT cage match.

That has all the appeal of a late night infomercial!  :)

I happpen to love late night informercials.  I even own the collectors edition dvd "of the magic bullet" informercials which I could only buy for limited time with 3 easy payments of 49.99 plus S+H from an infomercial.

Are we still doing burgers tomorrow? We can't let that burger go to waste.

Although I knew all those stats before you had to repeat them to me, I still felt the need to post it because I feel like I can back my opinion up.  If you keep checking stats the tommies have the LARGEST MARGIN of victory in the miac at 13ppg.  That equates to teams constantly FORCING SHOTS including 3 pointers for the last...8 minutes of the game.  When you are trying to catch up when your down by 15 you force force force, thats just basketball.  On top of that the shoe is a tough place to shoot at.  Those two combined equal a large reason why the tommies have such "GREAT" defensive stats!

Championship Cookout moved indoors...

Due to the paltry weather forecast, we've decided to gather at O'Gara's starting at 4pm on Saturday.

Gates open at UST at 6pm.

I must be losing it, because I have no clue how you deduce that from a 13 pt win margin.. must be a few walks in the woods with mary jane on your end. :)

Yes, the Shoe is a tough place to play, but what MIAC gym isnt??

The Tommies have great defense because their coaches stress it, they work hard on it, and they, players and coaches,  know that defense wins titles. And they know this frmo experience.
