Johnnies get an at-large in Pool B. Sounds like LaCrosse gets snubbed.

Oshkosh too...a bigger snub...unless I didnt read that list right  :)

TH4L, yeah it was very interesting that the WIAC didnt get another team in. Oshkosh was ranked higher and probably would have gotten in had they beaten UWL in the conference tourney semis on Thursday. That loss doomed them, especially coupled with the plethora of upsets in the tourneys out east. LX seemed like a fringe team even from the beginning, as their QOWI slipped.

Interesting to see how that changes the bracket for the Tommies, and whether SJU will stay in the West now or still be moved to the Midwest (as D3Hoops has predicted). With all the upsets, a few of those Pool Cs that seemed destined for West Region teams moved farther east. Logistically, Id think SJU would have to be in the west now, considering the NCAAs desire to regionalize for cost purposes.

In fact, out of ALL the Pool C bids, only TWO were from the Midwest/West regions (1 from West, 1 from Midwest).

Looks like the Johnnies were deserving after all ( Or atleast someone thought they were).  Really suprising that UW-SP will be carrying the WIAC flag alone this year though!!  ;D  ;D

I've been saying here for two weeks now that SJU was going to get in with a Pool C bid if the Johnnies didn't win the MIAC tourney. It's not rocket science. Don't let the math frighten you; it's not that hard to calculate QOWI, and any ten-year-old can figure out a team's regional winning percentage. Best of all, there's four or five tireless posters in the national rooms (Patrick Begg, Pat Coleman, Ralph Turner, Old School, etc.) who do most of the work for you in terms of charting the various Pool C contenders around the country.

Consider this my roundabout way of telling you folks to check out the rest of the site -- other Posting Up rooms as well as the many other features and sources of info on D3hoops.com -- especially when tournament selection time draws near. ;) I rarely see MIAC people posting in the national rooms, which is why I was happy to see Sumander in the Pool C room getting the 411 the other day.

Bracket is out. Johnnies hosting Loras, UST with a first round bye and hosting a sectional. Probably couldnt have worked out better for the MIAC, though very tough 2nd round games loom for both squads (Stevens Point for SJU, Augustana for UST).

Fins, Figured out what the problem is....this country boy just doesn't know how to drive the band wagon in the big City!! :( There will be no putting that one back together after Saturday's crash and burn! we are going to have to go shopping for a new one for Thursday's game!

Didn't think it was possible for SJU to shoot any worse than it did the week before! I was wrong. I have seen the J's play 3 times in the Shoe and all three times they have had the deer in the headlights look. You guys must be putting something in their water. :D

Props to UST, I was a doubter after the game in Collegeville. I no longer am. I knew about the big three but their role players have show vast improvement! Playing at the Shoe this weekend they should be very tough to beat!

Willie, I think you are spot on with your assessment of Fogt. i have been impressed with him all year. He plays wioth passion, something a few other Johnnies could take a lesson on. He has a suprisingly soft touch for a big guy as well. He will be a force next year if he can stay out of foul trouble.

MIG, this might be the line of the year!
If Westman sold his soul  to the devil he might be able to have his name mentioned in the same sentence as Schnettlers.

Now, it's time to do a little more checking on Loras. I see they are coached by a Lynn Peterson of Staples disciple and Concordia moorhead grad Chad Walthall!

Hey Sum – good to see you survived the physical & emotional wear & tear of the weekend!   ;)

Ok first of all no offense to the Johnnies – But, how the heck does the 2nd place team from our league get to host the regular season & conference tourney winner from the IIAC?  Same thing for the CCIW league & tourney winner, Augustana.  I'd be hacked.  I trust the Johnnies can regroup & the team psyche has healed, or they're fast healers.  Thursday is gonna get here in no time! The Johnnies have been given a great gift to host a game at home where they obviously play much better than they have on the road.

When you think of Loras, think of a better rounded & more talented SMU.  LIke SMU, they're a Catholic college located in a Mississippi river town, Dubuque, with great access to Catholic school prep players from the greater Chicago metro area.  In addition, they seem to do a better job of recruiting players from Iowa & Wisky than SMU.  One of their signature wins was over a very formidable UW-LAX from the WIAC back in December.  They also knocked off an admittedly "down"Buena Vista in the IIAC tourney finals the other night.  BV, along with Wartburg has been the standard bearers in the IIAC the past 4-5 years.  However, the DuHawks are certainly beatable, especially when you consider the Johnnies get to play at home.  BUT-- the Js will need to remember that they still have an "A" game.

More on the probable Tommies & Augustana match up later on the week, but everyone should know this Augustana club is a very tough opponent from the vaunted CCIW.  They beat a highly ranked Washington U. 73-75 & only lost by 3 points, 68-71 to UW-Stevens Point at Stevens Point.  This is a very, very tough, opening round match.  If this was at Augustana, the Tommies would be definite underdogs.  As it is, if there was a Vegas line on this game it would probably be called a Pick-em, or the T's might have a 1-2 point advantage.  Well, as they say –"to be the best, you got to beat the best."

League unity time fellas!

It should be noted that this isn't the final list... the final selections are picked in mid March. Obviously it will help Isaac's case if the Tommies make a deep playoff run... but he'll probably make the final cut either way. ;) A nice way to get some national exposure for a good player... esp if he is considering trying to play on after college.
