Yea Drake, but the announcers made it seem like Westman was falling away=off balance-and some how made the shot. Would like to see what that shot looked like. And remember, SJU blew 2 free throws to put game away.

He was fading away and off one leg.

How did Stevens Point lose to Oshkosh in their first meeting?

Smith better be studying the tapes of that game.

Knowing Smith & McKenzie, by this time tomorrow, they will have every nuance of that film memorized. I'd say its safe to assume no scout from UWSP was in attendance tonight, so there is some blessing in the snowfall.

Whoever was at the helm of the bandwagon tonight better be driving that sucker to the Point on Saturday! ;D

WOW. What a barn burner. It'll be interesting to find out how many people actually were lucky enough to witness it.

Zip I was listening to the Loras broadcast.  It sounded like a couple of Westman's shots were with a hand in his face.. He sounded like the Westman with ice in his veins that everyone loves to hate.  ;D  Good job.

Watch, catch your breath & describe what that last shot of Westman's looked liked. It sounded awesome!

I tell you what Zip - have a drink on me too.  Play by play posting of a basketball game is too nerve wracking for me..Much easier to drive to a game & watch in tension, than to listen & type in tension.   ;D

It was the Westman of old tonight. Not that same Tyler Westman that has been getting ripped limb from limb the past week after his past two performances at UST. He had the ball at the top of the key with 10 seconds left stood for a little bit dribbled left might have gotten away with a little nudge on his defender and promptly canned a falling away three with just under 3 seconds to play. Loras ran an impressive play at the end and a kid had a wide open look to tie and he airballed it.  Overall a very good game. Other than the Johnnies early run it was a pretty even game. Loras couldn't stop Craig Schafer and that seemed to give the J's some breathing room. I was really impressed with Loras and watch out IIAC next year because these guys are going to be hungry.

ROR, the Pointers shot 38% (down from their normal 51%) from the field for the game, including a woeful 3-14 performance from their big gun, Jon Krull. Their 3 best shooters, who all shoot above 47%, went a combined 12-36 for 33 pts. It also helps that the Titans have a 7 ft center, who blocked 5 shots and altered numerous others throughout the game for Oshkosh. On offense, UWO attacked the rim and got to the line (24 FT attempts), while focusing on feeding the post and scoring in the paint. If theres an area where the Pointers are lacking, its inside strength.

was Loras aggressive on D? Im just wondering where the 18 TOs came from. Not very Johnnie like. Good things happen when the Js to go Schafer, Im just not sure why that isnt a staple of every SJU game. Yeah, thats what Westman is capable of. The Shoe is his Abyss, evidently. Domination on the boards by the Johnnies. Great way to kick off the tourney!

MIAC hockey playoff updates for anyone else who cares....Bethel beat St Olaf and St Thomas beat Augs. The 2 play Sat for the championship. It's UST's 20th time in the title game/series out of 22 years.

now back to our regular obsession with hoops  :)
