Nites You have a better grasp of what's going on in the league than I do and I am a heckuva a lot closer to it than you are! How did you get involved with the MIAC? ???

Sumander,

That's absurd.  Besides, I've never even seen the Bandwagon, much less ridden in it.   :)

My connection to the MIAC is too ridiculous to post.  However, I do have roots in MIAC territory.  I went to HS in one of the twin towns on the Red River south of FM, which appears to be your neck of the woods.  After 1 year in a West Coast D-I school, I finished up in Mankato.   Baseball, not basketball, was actually my college sport.

Nites, have you seen this Nate Garth play?  I understand he just moved to Dallas from California this past year. I haven't checked him out, but was he on any of the scouting services top 50 or 100 lists?

Aww, c'mon Uncle Nites, it's the off-season (slow), we need something to read to pass the time.  You can write a short memoir/post From Dallas to Dilworth, And Points in Between.  Yes, I realize that Dilworth is not south of Fargo-Moorhead, but it reads better than Dallas to Dickinson.  :D

Or you could go with the North Star to the Lone Star etc.  ;)

Looks like Tubby landed his first recruit, Nate Garth, a junior guard out of Woodrow Wilson High in Dallas.  Apparently, as you move North your scoring average increases and you grow an inch.  PP has Garth at 6'4" with an 18 ppg scoring average, while the local press has him at 6'3" with a 15.1 ppg average to go with 8.4 assist per game.  Many of those assists likely came from dumping the ball into 6'10" Anthony Randolph, one of the nation's top high school recruits.

Saw the Article in the STRIB this morning. As I read it I was wondering how good of a recruit they were getting? No talk of being on any top 100 lists etc. Do you know anything about this kid?

im guessing the dude is pretty solid do to the fact that we got him over oklahoma and cal...it looks like he was getting looks from U Conn and had some interest from florida...i know tubby was recruiting him out at kentucky also but his first choice was jai lucas....ive never seen him play but from all that im reading it is a good start for tubby and something to build on

on a side note...i cant believe the suspensions the NBA handed out to the SUNS....wow what a joke...they said the players were 20-25 feet away from the bench...do they realize that is only 6 to 8 yards or 3-5 steps for people that are 6'10...bunch of dummies ruining the playoffs

Sumander   - I had not heard of him, but he appears to be legit as he was on the radar as a sophomore in California before moving to Texas.  He received a lot of attention this year because all of the scouts that came to see Anthony Randolph, a player generally considered to be in the top 15 in the nation.  Most services had Randolph as the state's No. 1 ranked player.

All that being said, I find it interesting that Woodrow Wilson (Garth's team) went 13-14 last year.  Not very impressive for a team with two D-I recruits on it.  In addition to the 6'10" Randolph, they had a 6'8" post player who averaged 8.6 rebounds a game.

The really good players elevate their teams so I'm not sure what that says about Garth who had one of the nation's best players to feed the ball to.  We'll see what kind of year Garth has as a senior.

Drake - The fish aren't biting; you'll have to find something else to read.   :)

Aww, alright then, be that way. I guess this summer I'll have to dust off my copy of War and Peace, or perhaps re-read Wahpeton native Louise Erdrich's book, Love Medicine.

Better yet, maybe to gain a greater understanding of those pioneers who settled the northern plains of MN & ND, I should sign up for my advance copy of Gateway to the Northern Plains: Railroads and the Birth of Fargo and Moorhead.  This is the most recent scholarly work by Cord professor & historian Carroll Engelhardt.  ;) Gateway...

Drake - The Johnnies ought to let you drive the Bandwagon since you follow maps so well.

Unfortunately, I haven't read any of Erdrich's works.  I know her brother and sister, but I've never met her.

Eckhoff, Templeton, and I lived next door to Prof. Engelhardt for two years in moorhead.  he's the man.  furthermore, he never got mad at us or our stupid friends for our public disorderly conduct.

No doubt WW

it is going to be very painful when two teams behind the wolves win the lottery and we fall a couple spots...and then McFail will go out and sign Gerrald Wallace to a 7 year 64 million dollar deal in the offseason and tell everyone he is the missing piece to the puzzle
