I've never been an advocate of cheap or dirty play, but I'm inclined to believe Humble Pie's take of the situation. I've known Hanson long enough to know he'd never cheer something that — but there's also a distinct line between playing hard and playing dirty. Sounds like Crowder brought something tonight that has been missing most of the year. I'm hoping that continues the rest of the way.

Not sure how how I missed this before, but Mike Trewick may be returning to the sidelines as a head coach. At SJU. As soon as Wednesday's crucial game against Augsburg.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

I'd add Tim Madson to your list of MVP candidates. And to be politically correct you have to add a Tommie, so I would include Joe Scott.

I think you could have a legitimate argument for BJ Viau as well.  While not the prolific scorer that Scott is, BJ is a heavy contributor to rebounds and steals, which adds more depth.

But right now, I'm with you guys in thinking ZJ, not BJ is pretty much a lock.

Doctor, Doctor, Doctor
Keep up the good work. The manifesto is proving its worth.

As WW points out in his blog via Frank the Tank's blog, Jim Smith broke his leg Saturday night and may or may not be in the building Wednesday.

Gotta love McHale (well....). "Unfortunately for us, the season doesn't end," McHale said. "We've got to keep playing. So we're just going to have to find a way. With any kind of adversity like that, new opportunities arise for other people. We're just going to have to go out there and make the best of it."

I always love that one. He wishes the season was over now.

Double play ...

In light of the subject matter, I felt it best to make two separate posts.

Willy's just an infidel, a non-believer in the power of the Manifesto.

QuoteI really do love the humble, unassuming, modest, terrifically talented ball player types like Keith Eckhoff, Mark Buri etc.  But it's the Zach Johnsons, Sean Sweeneys, Doug Espensons, the Nebraska twins, etc. that break up the blandness of the league & help to bring excitement, color, & dare I say a skosh of controversy to the league.  Long may they run!

By the way, I liked that post yesterday about a "skosh".  I had to look that up.  Dictionary called it slang, but I liked it.

The only problem I have with a post getting quoted is then I notice the typos I previously missed.  ::) ;) I'll keep trying.

Nites - I thought you would have known that word- "skosh." Back in the 80s they used to run a Skoal chewing tobacco commercial  with former NFL running backs Earl Campbell & Walt Garrison.  I could have sworn that was the first time I heard the word "Skosh" as in, "put a skosh of Skoal in between your cheek & gum."  Or mebbe I heard it hanging around some of those rural Minnesotoans.  :)

if we didn't know for sure before, we do now. The 6 playoff teams are set. The order they finish in is still very much up in the air.

HAM at # 7 has the following schedule: @GAC, SMU, SJU, @UST. No way they run the table to get to 10 wins. Both SJU & GAC will get at least one win in their remaining games.

I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Greg's right.  It was pinch.  Besides, during my baseball playing days, Copenhagen was my tobacco of choice.

You are both right & I stand corrected.  I must have picked up the word from someone in rural MN, or the Dakotas.  I know it wasn't a word I used while growing up.  Sum, don't they use that word up in your part of the state –"skosh?"

Speaking of Sum – ok, we're even as you pat yourself  on the back.   ;) Good call!  But the Pipes and their Manifesto certainly made the MIAC race interesting the last couple of weeks.  And while I appreciate the Doctor's new poetic efforts, I think the narrative form is more his strong suit.  I can just imagine the Admiral lashing out at the crew, pushing them toward the .500 in conference play as they put the finishing wraps on the 08-09 season.

Over the next 10 days, Hamline could play the part of the dangerous dog in the manger as the Johnnies try to secure their spot at the playoff table, & the Tommies try to land in the record book.

DP, you are correct. Skosh is an every day word in these parts! Nites, I gotta believe that it gets used frequently in your home stomping grounds as well.

As I reviewed the remaining schedules for both GAC and SJU that last game of the year should be very interesting. Even more so if Hambone could pull off the upset of the season and beat UST. J's can help their own cause with a win at HAM on the 14th.

I can see SJU needing a win the last game of the year to tie GAC.

I thought the J's might have an edge against AUG tomorrow night. They have won 3 in a row from Auggie at home by an average of 13 points. However, Auggie tech has a better road record this year (6-2) than home record (5-3)  :(.  Auggie Tech could easily start the J's on a 3 game slide tomorrow night.

Sum - I guess in Nites case he can't go home again. The Texas sun must have bleached all the Minnesotan out of him.  ;)

The last two weeks of the season have got some real barnburners on tap -

Aug @ SJU
BET @ UST

UST @ GAC
SJU @ HAM
BET @ AUG

GAC @ BET
CARL @ AUG
SJU @ UST

HAM @UST
GAC @ SJU

And I'm sure I probably forgot another one or 2 key /big games.  This reminds me of the 4th quarter of an NBA game.  Can hardly wait until tomorrow night!  ;D
