DP, you are correct. Skosh is an every day word in these parts! Nites, I gotta believe that it gets used frequently in your home stomping grounds as well.

As I reviewed the remaining schedules for both GAC and SJU that last game of the year should be very interesting. Even more so if Hambone could pull off the upset of the season and beat UST. J's can help their own cause with a win at HAM on the 14th.

I can see SJU needing a win the last game of the year to tie GAC.

I thought the J's might have an edge against AUG tomorrow night. They have won 3 in a row from Auggie at home by an average of 13 points. However, Auggie tech has a better road record this year (6-2) than home record (5-3)  :(.  Auggie Tech could easily start the J's on a 3 game slide tomorrow night.

Sum - I guess in Nites case he can't go home again. Texas must have leached all the Minnesotan out of him.  ;)

Correction - North Dakotan  ;)

I guess I can't go home.   By gosh, are you sure the word didn't originate on the other side of the Mississippi in say, Oshkosh?   :P

Trevor Wittwer fouled out in his last game with the Gusties. He's still playing...and still not a big fan of refs.

Don't worry hater...I mean, PI...I'm working on a couple bigger pieces for the next week. In the meantime, I'm trying to learn the stanky legg on crutches.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

I've got a lead for you. Don't go to Great Clips. I'll post pictures when I'm sober. Wow. PI does not look good with a complete buzz cut. The gal did not get the pre-game talk I guess.

The latest on Coach Smith's condition from Frank's Blog . I am sure it's not the way he would want to pick up a win "if" the J's can prevail tonight.

Willy thanks for the link...it was an interesting read...great takes on officiating, I have a few questions though...

1. What is meant by "kind of" graduating from GAC?
2. I think it should be a "loss" is a "loss", rather than a "lose is a "lose" (This might be related to question one) ::) ;D
3. I wonder if he is in the same league that Brady Brink is in?  Last I knew Brady was in Germany playing ball

Johnnies-Auggies tonight...J's have a measure of revenge tonight, hopefully they will be able to D up Alm and their freshman center who is better than advertised, Cassens is always a threat but I think he realizes he does not need to dominate games like he used to.

So Drake do you know where you are going on Saturday?  I will extend the same invitation to you as I did for the Ole game...

Who else besides me is predicting the Tommies go down tonight?  I'd say around Bethel 75 St. Thomas 68.  Sooner or later Bethel is going to figure out a way to use its horses to beat down the Tomtoms.  It makes a lot of sense that it would happen tonight.  Who was predicting before the season that the Tommies would go undefeated?

I'm guessing Wittwer kind of graduated by being allowed to walk with cap and gown on graduation day, but never fully completing a community service or work experience requirement.

Really? I would imagine that you'd be much more likely to negotiate a juicy six-figure deal with the supermarket tabloids for being "kind of" pregnant than "kind of" graduated, Sum. ;)

No one.  :-*

AO – I like your thinking, but I can emphatically tell you this:  HAL NO!!!, the Tommies do not go down at home against the Royals tonight.  To paraphrase the words of a real poet & not Hoops PHD, "They will not go gently into the good night."  ;) There's far too much at stake for this to happen. Here's why:

1)   The perfect regular season.

2)   This particular UST team would be the last to go undefeated at Schoenecker arena.

3)   Keep intact the longest conference home winning streak (currently 41 games) in what will soon become an extinct arena.

4)   The ghosts of Tommies past will not allow it.

5)   UST owns Bethel to the tune of 11 (?)straight games? Close, solid wins, blowouts, OT wins, it don't matter, the Tommies have got it covered against the Royals.

Now playing GAC on the road Saturday could be a challenge, but they ain't losing tonight.  As the funky old dude from the Mens 'Wearhouse tv commercial says - "I guarantee it". (Now that quote I'm sure about Greg. Do they have Men's Wearhouse in Chicago?)  (However, there are enough seeds of doubt in my mind, so I cancelled any potential trips to C-Ville to take in the Dawgs-Jays matchup tonight to stick around & watch the Royals-Tommies game.  :D)

...So Drake do you know where you are going on Saturday?  I will extend the same invitation to you as I did for the Ole game...

VOJ- in large part which game I watch on Saturday will hinge on the outcomes of games played tonight.  As of now I'm thinking Saturday's Augsburg Bethel game could be a battle Royale!  The Dawgs will want to sweep the Royals, & possibly slide into one of the top 2 positions & earn the first round bye.  In addition, they'll have payback on their mind for their gut wrenching last second defeat against Bethel last year which kept them from qualifying for the playoffs. Bethel will have plenty of incentive going for them as well –a 20 win season, 1st round playoff bye, exorcising the under achiever label, etc.

As a fan I'm almost more stoked for that game than for the Bethel-UST game tonight.  Last year's game between these two teams was fantastic.  Atmosphere was incredible, the place was loud, & the ballgame was a see-saw playoff intense like game for all 40 minutes.  At this game I saw one of the best seal your defender, dropstep & dunk I've ever seen in my life - Augsburg's Femi Solaja.  And one of the best, clutch last second, hotly contested treys made by a  player - Bethel's Tim Madson.   In between there was 38 minutes of hell. Great ball game!  I just hope the Augsburg fans realize what a special team they might have this season & get out to support the team, & fill the seats at Si Melby on Saturday.

But if Bethel wins tonight, Pipes win & Augsburg loses to your Johnnies, all of a sudden the marquee match on Saturday will become the Pipe-Jays game.  Hutton would get very warm on Saturday!

A picture of Drake might be worth a beer or a sandwich, take your pick.   ;)

Mostly true story.*  Unfortunately a few years back Drake couldn't attend the MIAC championship pre-game gathering which took place at O'Gara's rather than the UST parking lot.  So that Saturday morning, he slipped a 10 spot into a card, along with a picture of himself & gave it to a bartender to give to OAS when the MIAC regulars showed up later that afternoon.  (Once OAS completes his testing he can vouch for this.) The bad thing was that OAS selfishly used the money to buy himself a sammich rather than sharing Drake's donation with the group & buying a pitcher.  ::) ;)

*The untrue part of the story:  1) Drake mebbe could have made it to pre-game festivities. 2) The picture Drake gave OAS was a bit should I say photo-shopped. Otherwise, the rest of the story is true. ;D ;D

Or their inhibitions......Kind of worried for the Cards/Pipers game tonight. St. Marys came back from over 20 down two years ago in Hutton when a Mr. Cormier hit a game winning shot at the buzzer. Last year Hamline gave them their first (only?) win inside the same building. Here's to hoping they keep in rolling.
