Real quiet in here today. Valentine's Day hangover, perhaps? What's your excuse, Moses? :)

Two complaints now about Crowder. Hardly the reputation I want my Gusties to be getting. GACbacker, did you see the same thing?

I've got a quick post up examining how UST's defense stacks up historically — with a Gustie twist, naturally.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

NEWSFLASH:  Pipes make the Bigs!
So I'm watching the last 2 minutes of the UConn Pitts game on ESPN, & on the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen I see the score: Hamline 23  - North Dakota 47.   Halftime  ;)

"If anything here offends, I beg your pardon. I come in peace, I depart in gratitude." ;)

Was sitting near court level and didn't see crowder saluting the tommie faithful on saturday---could have happened, but I didn't see it

gacbacker

I didn't see the alledged Crowder incident, but perhaps Hanson did, which might explain why he didn't see the floor in the second half?

I didn't see it either, but Crowder isnt exactly a player Id describe as worth watching closely. I'd say Hanson & staff noticed something though, cuz when he came out, it seemed he was being talked to about something.

Gacbacker or someone-- please explain to me why the Gustie students were chanting" you wear pur-ple" in the 2nd half. Were they unaware of the score or envious that ther were NOT wearing purple?  Or was Hoag in attendance and they were ribbing him for not making the Vikes? Seemed odd/strange  but in a  benign way.

VOJ-- I've talked to a number of SJU faithful in the past couple of days. The consensus seems to be they'd make it to the game Wednesday if we switch from hoops to football. Otherwise, washing their hair or watching the wife wash hers seems to be the #1 and 1A alibis.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

miacmaniac--some years back (maybe 15) the color purple was the 'gay' color--have not a clue if it still is considered such---I kind of like the purple uni's. and last time I checked I wasn't gay.  Probably not the msot inventive cheer I have heard.

Normally, BV students start a purple pu$$**S chant for the loras game but it has been getting cracked down early most times.  Im not sure if they brought it out on St Thomas up there last year.

Oh, they did and it was glorious. At least until a semi-scuffle started in the student section between a few BVU females and a tipsy Tommie...

Not sure how many out there track the other boards here, but here's a revealing look at why the MIAC will only have on rep in the postseason, barring an upset.

Basically, the West ain't for the weak.

Yeah i thought some of the people might have started that chant.  If i remember right the scuffle had to do with the BVU cheerleaders correct?  The St Thomas trip was an awesome trip for both basketball and extra curricular activities.  The atmosphere was awesome and 2 great games that could have went either way.   We got to hit up Mystic Lake along with a party at St Thomas from some HS friends of a person in my group.  Mall of America included the Shark doing the Soulja boy for about 15 minutes.  It was a good trip and would  love to see some of that great atmosphere and basketball in this years tourney where we end up.

Like someone stated a couple of pages back...shaping up to be a wild final week in the regular season.

1. St. Thomas* 18-0 23-0
2. Bethel* 12-6 17-6
    Carleton* 12-6 16-7
4. Augsburg* 11-7 13-10
    Saint John's* 11-7 13-10
    Gustavus* 11-7 12-11

Remaining Schedules:

BET- GAC, CAR
CAR-@AUG,@BET
AUG-CAR,@SMU
SJU-@UST,GAC
GAC-@BET,@SJU

Bethel lost to GAC the first time around by 15 and beat CAR by 15 on the road!

CAR beat AUG at home by 2

Given the J's recent performances at the Shoe it is safe to mortgage the house on UST!

Here is what unfolds on Wednesday night, BET and AUG win the other 3 lose. So you have:

BET 13-6
CAR 12-7
AUG 12-7
SJU 11-8
GAC 11-8

Making Saturday the 21st an awfully interesting day!

Yea it was fun to see and follow how they were doing...nice to see them rally...

As for tomorrow night what would make it even more interesting on Saturday is Carleton, Bethel and the Johnnies winning...  :o  If Carleton could manage a road win, and if the Js fail to find victory at the Shoe...it would leave three 11-8 teams fighting for a homecourt slot on Tuesday night...

Summ thanks for the vote of confidence...

VOJ, Would love to see the J's win! However, the realist in me says otherwise. I was an eyewitness to several debacles at the Shoe a couple of years ago! Those were better SJU teams against arguably less talented UST teams. Recipe for disaster in my book. :(

I hope I am wrong.

Summ- May Daughter #1 run up a huge shopping bill on your VISA for this sentiment  ;D :P :)

I think you are right though...its a potential recipe for disaster.

But I think back to similar "mismatches" in the history of SJ/ST and I don't feel overly confident...too many years, things don't go as expected in this rivalry, more so than any other in the MIAC.

But I'm hoping for a repeat of any of the last 3 matchups in The Shoe
