SUMMIT!!!!!

I got this off the Carlie website...

Zach Johnson scored 23 points in a 64-51 loss at Bethel in the regular-season finale for both teams. That result, coupled with Saint John's 71-60 victory over Gustavus and Saint Mary's 82-75 home upset of Augsburg, means the Johnnies are the #3 seed, Augsburg #4, Carleton #5 and Gustavus #6 when first-round action kicks off on Monday, Feb. 23 at 7:30 p.m. KDHL 920 AM will be there with the call as Carleton

Does this mean GAC is going back to C-ville on Monday???   ???

Yes, it means a rematch about 50 hours after the last meeting between them.  Should be interesting, to say the least. Ditto the Auggie-Carlie game

Thrasher scored Hamline's first 10 points, and all but 3 of their points in the first half (he had an assist on the only non-Thrahser bucket they had). HU went over 7 mins without a point.  Nice turnout at the Shoe, altho a rather bland game
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Two Tech's on Burns! WW, you heard a punch was thrown? I wonder if this makes him questionable for Monday's game?

Not exactly a heady play by the freshman considering they both happened in the last two minutes of a game that his team already had in the bag.

That's what our favorite radio announcer said, but it was about 45 seconds after the incident happened. It could have just been him speculating. You'd think that would be mentioned right away if it truly happened. VOJ, what did you see?

Here are today's results and a quick look at the playoffs.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

I'd hope that, if indeed a punch was thrown, he is suspended for the MIAC playoffs. There is no place for that kind of behavior in non-NBA basketball.

SJU just got hit with another tech, I think!

VOJ, I want details!

UPDATE: Sounds like Burns threw a punch at Schmidtnecht after a foul.

Well from what I can tell it started on the defensive end and Burns got posted up by Schmidt or Schmidtknecht and from our angle Burns took a pointed elbow in the chest and after the score Burns inbounded, Schwartz was fouled and Burns said something to someone,  one of the Gusties or the official, Jon McClean, who T'd him up...our position is on the opposite end of the floor and I was screened and looking for Schwartz FT percentage...

Then on a future possession Burns was fouled and as he moved past the Gusty with the ball pleasantries were exchanged and the official (McClean again) made the sign that Burns pushed the ball into the Gusty player, T'd him up after the foul was called and he was done...IT WAS NOT A PUNCH, NO FIST WAS EVER MADE...sad end to a pretty good game from the fiery point guard...

You know if you dislike the Gusty announcer, who by the way is a nice guy, there are other alternatives... ::) :o ;D  I had two colorguys today...similiar to the Dick Enberg, Billy Packer, Al McGuire set up back in the day on NBC...yes before the EYE took over the tournament, there was college bball on NBC...some of you remember this time others need to take my word for it.

Not looking forward to facing the Gusties again so quickly, but I am sure the feelings are mutual.

So you expect him to be in uniform then on Monday VOJ?

VOJ--good job today--I did opt for your broadcast versus the gustie broadcast--of course I had to take into account the mild bias, but I wouldn't expect otherwise.

I downloaded something for the SJU broadcast, but couldn't get it working. Does it work with Macs?

No punch? No fist? Good. I know the kid is as competitive as all getout, and a bit of a hothead, but that woulda been low, really low

My other question is why with a minute and change left in the game was he not taken out after the first technical when the game was seemingly in hand? Seems like a questionable coaching decision to me.

Maybe the head coach's cell phone didn't have service at the time???  ;)

I had the pleasure of taking in the Hamline/UST game with Mose yesterday...a lot of basketball brainpower in one location ::)
I was hoping to see a nice uptempo high scoring game in the 80's or 90's with Hamline style, UST's smothering defense and an off shooting day for Scott,Viau, and Robinson resulted in a relatively "low" scoring game for the participants.
Big Al answered his board critics' call for higher stats by posting a 12 point/7 boards,2 assisit/2 blocked shots/3 steals in a stellar stat stuffing performance to lock up his all conferance spot ;) He also held Hipp in check defensively, although Hipp's 6 blocks were a message that he will be a growing force to be reckoned with in future seasons.
Highlight of the day, however, was Viau's Mom's inspirational greeting to the team and BJ on the court at halftime of senior day. It was a special hallmark moment.

I think because the Gusties were really pressing and Burnsy is our best ballhandler and point guard he was in there

I would expect he will play, if he does not play then Budach, Blank, Barmore, Schwartz and Burtzel will at various times handle the starting of the offense and ballhandling chores

One of the things I like about Andy is his strong will, and he will grow from this, he is a confident floor general.  It was nice to see the team bounce back from the loss to the Tommies on Wednesday, no hangover, they got out to a 10 point lead right away and seemed to have great intensity on defense.

I know the Gusties will come ready to play on Monday, it will be a tough challenge.

I have been told that Burns will play, no discipline from the league...and he will start.
