#1 Daughter and I went to the PGA on Thursday, then up to Canada that night to fish. Should have stayed home.  I think my feet have webs after this weekend. We had 4 inches of rain Friday afternoon to Sunday when we left.

Should be in the Cities for a couple of golf meets in Sept/Oct. Brasa will be on the to do list.

Interesting driving by UST these days, with The Shoe being razed. That is quite a project underway. Where are the Tomcats going to play home games this winter?
I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun
There's no such thing as an easy run

Anyone know this guy from St. John's, Joe Davis?
Maryland's New Recruit Has a Leech

It's based on a Washington Post article that I'm too lazy to look up, but here's an blurb from that post:

"Keep in mind, this guy doesn't seem have any basketball experience beyond some AAU ball growing up; no college experience, despite attending a St John's in Minnesota, no coaching experience, just two websites setup, neither of which has lasted for more than a year. And yet he's demanding all recruiting contact for a player go through him, with questionable input from Parker himself, or his father."

From Shooter:
Noah Kaiser, a 6-4 former Henry Sibley basketball standout, is transferring from St. John's to the University of St. Thomas, where he will have four years of eligibility, the same as incoming transfer John Nance, a former Gophers quarterback who will play basketball.

He played at St. John's Prep...was a very good scorer, then went to another Prep school I believe...in North Carolina???

I'll give my buddy at SJ Prep a call and find out what ever happened to him...

Surprising and dissapointing...I thought overall Kaiser was happy at SJU, but I knew he was battling some homesickness.  I think had he been playing and not gotten injured and then the infection that followed things might have turned out differently.

Interesting news on the Noah Kaiser transfer.  I would think the competition would be just as fierce, if not tougher at UST.  However, Kaiser will be closer to home, & gets a chance to reunite with former HS teammate, PG Peter Leslie. Kaiser's not in the Brady Ervin category, but the kid can play some D.  I think he's a lefty, adequate handles, & is a decent to good 3pt shooter.

I'm still waiting to hear official confirmation on the John Nance transfer.  If that does indeed take place, minutes will be tough for 6-4, 6-5 type combo guards & forwards at UST.  With preseason AA-Joe Scott, & Alex Healy already in the mix, a post transfer (?), the 09-10 Tommies could be in a definite re-load mode.  About a week ago I scanned the UST football roster to see if John Nance might have decided to go out for football, but didn't see his name listed anywhere.

Sum – it seems the Tomcats will play their home games at Concordia St. Paul this winter.

VOJ- whats the word on my guy, Todd Herman?

Willy Wonka

Did anyone take in the Star of the North games in late July? Apparently my boy, Bobby Johnson, went up and dunked on a big guy in traffic, two-handed styley. His teammates were stunned (as am I). It might be safe to say he's fully recovered from the ACL tear he suffered as a HS senior.

Oh, and word on the street is GAC has a "stud" recruiting class coming in. It's no secret they need to add some athleticism to the mix, so this has to be good news on the hill. With so much coming back, it will be interesting to see how minutes shake out.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

SUMMIT!!!!!

Kaiser seems to fit in vey nicely with UST, based on the little summer action I took in. Nance was with the team in Bloomington on occasion. This bodes very well for title #25 and for the fifth in a row, tying UST's record set in the Fritz-Rosier era, aka the "short-shorts days".
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

I saw Nance in Bloomington and asked if he was going to play Football.  He said he was undecided but he is definitely going to be a Tommie!

I think the Tommies go undefeated again in league play and Mac goes defeated again!
I may change my mind about Mac once I hear something but I can't imagine them having much of a  recruiting class with the coaching change.

Hope everyone is celebrating the final days of summer in style...

Drake as for Todd, we are hoping to see him lace them up on the first day of practice October 15th...obviously he has some business to take care of to make that happen.  I know he knows that and I think he will take the steps necessary to be in uniform for the Point game to open things up.

About 10 days ago the St. Cloud  Times had an article on the J's new faces for 2009 made for some interesting reading.  Sorry I don't have a link to it, I was on vacation at the time.  I will probably get dinged for that seems its been a steady process by those of you visiting the board  ;D

Miscellaneous late summer post...

As a casual follower of MIAC football, I took a few minutes over the lunch hour to scan the various schools' websites. Augsburg seems to have done a complete overhaul on their athletic website.  Nice graphics, videos, layout etc.  Nicely done!  I jumped over to their basketball site & watched a YouTube video of a Dawgs -UST game from last season.  The video would have you think Augsburg schooled the Tommies last year.  ::) :D

Back to football... if a quick glance of their football roster is any indication, the Dawgs are starting to make some serious inroads in the southern Lake conference schools – both Lakeville schools, Apple Valley, Prior Lake from the Missota conference, etc.  It seems the coaching staffs of the football & basketball programs are starting to generate some nice momentum with their respective programs. Augsburg picked up a stud D2 transfer from Lakeville in QB Marcus Brumm.  He transferred from Mankato State & has a real live arm.  It will be interesting to see how they do this year.

Hamline's done a good cosmetic tweaking of their website but thus far, neither the football & or hoops program have turned the respectability corner – particularly football.  The Cobbs & Johnnies' sites were both good looking, informative sites, while the Oles have the nice, rotating, wide angle football photos on their front page. I'll join with others in saying – "Tommies, dump the freaking purple background colors, especially on the stats pages!! " ::)

oK, oK VOJ, we'll try to fix the K.  More K if you can link the Jay's recruiting story you were referring to.  ;)

Alright Sum - enough with symmetry, so +K to the page. :D

DP, I have to do something to earn that +k. Here is a link to the story on the J's  recruits. Once again, are there going to be enough basketballs to go around in C-ville?

+k to the usual suspects.
