GAC's arch rival for Southern Minnesota basketball talent, Bethany Lutheran, drops to 0-10 following a 69-47 loss last night to Carleton.  Seth Jonker led the way for the Knights with 21 points.

Well I think the selling point for Bethany Lutheran coaches when they hit the recruiting trail is that anyone who shows up to play has a chance at getting some playing time...I don't think GAC can say that.   :o ;D ;)

Good point!   I wonder if GAC has ever started 0-10?

The Gusties have never started 0-10 in a season before. They did start the 1970-71 season 0-6 with consecutive losses to Winona State, the Swedish National Team, Wartburg, Augustana, St. John's and Luther before defeating Concordia in their seventh game of the season.

And as a side note, the last time a Gustavus team finished with a sub .500 record in the MIAC was 1983-84 when they went 8-12 in conference play.

DP.....do you or anybody else do some mid-season or year end awards as of Dec. 31?

6th man, MVP etc........

Carleton played its whole bench and had nothing but bench players on the floor at times during this contest...err game.  ;D
Well hell...

How dumb is Royce White?

And speaking of dumb...did you see the recent story about how D3 athletes are getting worse grades than their non-athletic fellow students? Interesting and depressing.

I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

WW-

When I first saw the You Tube video, my reaction was similar: Royce White is a moron. But if it is true that he had no involvement in laptop-gate, I'd be pretty frustrated if I were him and I think you would be too.

Yes, it is unimaginable for us to understand why someone who has the potential to make millions someday playing in the NBA would shoplift at the Mall of Histeria.

But it seems to me that if laptop-gate hadn't arisen so soon after the MOA incident, that White would probably be playing for the Gophers right now.

I just don't understand why it takes so long to sort something like this out. The authorities either have evidence against him or they don't regarding the laptop right? So what's the hold up?

You mean the fact that he hyped his YouTube vids as his way of coming clean, released them late...and then they turned out to be nothing more than a way to promote his whack record label (Sidenote: How out of place does "J-Strings" look with that crew?...) doesn't bother you?

I was willing to give him a pass after his De La Salle shinanigans, but he's proven himself to be a complete and utter joke this year. Even if his alleged crimes are bunk, I'm really not sure there's any way to dispute this.

So anyone hear the Royce White to St. Thomas rumors yet???   ;) ;D

I've got to side with gacbacker here.  Sure Royce is an idiot, but if he's not guilty of the laptop, he should be playing.  There has to be some legitimate reason the police are delaying so long with this investigation.  When I had a laptop stolen a couple of years ago, the cops took about 5 seconds to figure it wasn't worth investigating who the thief might be.

What are the odds are of two of the most talented forwards in minnesota basketball history being suspended during the same year for crimes they (probably) didn't commit?

Gacman

Even though he said he is quitting, he left the door open a little bit. He said he had no intentions of transfering, and that he was quitting for now not forever.  Seems to me like he just wants attention. I will bet anything that he will be back playing for the gophers next year.

If you look at my original post, I never said White shouldn't be playing. I simply said he's dumb, which most/all people would agree with. Both of you seem to be arguing against something I didn't post...

That said, I happen to agree with the Reusse article a few weeks back that Tubby should have yanked his scholarship offer when White went through the non-recruited "transfer" to Hopkins. He's been a black eye for the U for years now without suiting up for even a single game.

G-man – No I don't, but you certainly can. I've done informal poster mid-season conference awards in the past, but only after most teams have played 10 conference games, usually around the middle part of January.

Willy - I read that article the other day as well, and although it made me take note, I'd like to see more data before I jump to any conclusions.  How does this compare to the other levels, D1 & D2, graduation rates etc?

Royce White -   ??? what a shame.

His scholarship should have been yanked because he cheated on a test in high school? Don't you think about 75% of all high school kids cheat on a test at some point in their high school career. I know I did.

I thought it was assumed the nerds got better grades than the jocks?

Though I'd think the D3 jocks are still getting pretty good grades.
