Nice recaps.  I suspect UST will continue to improve as Fritz tinkers to find the right chemistry with his talented bunch.

Off Topic - Longhorns took out last season's D-I runner up, Michigan State, by the score of 79-68.  They had to play more of a Big 10 style game than when they beat North Carolina on Saturday.

I watched the run that clinched that game for the Longhorns...unbelieveable how explosive they can be...can't wait until they and the Jayhawks match up...speaking of the Jayhawks they let Cal hang around longer than I thought they would have...

I see that Royce W is still part of the Gopher program, for now I guess...I see the Big 10 being wide open...any of the following could win it:  Michigan State, Ohio State (once they get Turner back) Wisconsin, Purdue, Michigan(their struggles early on will make them stronger) and an outside and I mean outside chance the Gophers could finish in the top 3.

Just a random sidenote. Saw Aaron Barmore on TV at the Kansas game. Looked like he was sitting with Aldrich's parents. Wow....nice win for the Tommies. 13 3's is impressive, and I don't think UST is ever going to lose a game when they shoot like that.

When we were talking about Royce White a week ago, I said that he didn't totally shut the door on his career at the U and I think this latest news confirms that. I think when all is said and done, he will be wearing a golden gopher uniform by the end of the season.
I think Mbawke gets redshirted because although I think he is innocent, his case will drag on too long for it to be worth getting him playing time this season.

from what i have heard from my law junkie buddies Mbawke's case only goes this long in florida and no other state in america...they say if this would have occurred in MN it would have almost immediately been dropped but the FLA system is pretty wacked out

HO HO HO!!

I fly any cargo that you can pay to run

You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun

This goes right along with great perimeter play... but one thing that jumps out at me from the UST/CSP box score is the Tommies TO's... they had just 3 for the game.

This looks like it would have been a pretty entertaining, good basketball game.  Both teams shot pretty well and didn't turn the ball over, there weren't an inordinate number of fouls.  And a win against a decent D-II program is always nice too!

Heard a rumor that an Olaf big man is studying abroad for awhile after the holidays. Didn't catch a name, but he's a contributor. Can anyone confirm this with more details?

I'm not sure if it's over J-term (do the Oles do that?) or the semester after, but that absence could drag down their sparkling 41% team FG percentage...

Not to add fuel to the fire but are we talking about Stu Neville? Averaging 10.1 points a game. That would take the wind out of the nice season they have been putting together so far this year.

How do you know your family is dedicated to the D3 mentality? You give each other MIAC gag presents at Christmas.

Last year Papa Wonka got a shirt memorializing his all-time least favorite coach — SJU's Gags. This year he paid me back with an Al McCoy throwback jersey. It's basically spandex tight on me, so don't expect any pictures to be posted...

Do you people have any suggestions that I could use for next year??

Give him a video clip of the game winning shot Phil Wirtjes made against the Cobbers last month.  It even made the Huffington Post. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2009/12/07/phil-wirtjes-shot-video-g_n_382952.html

Otherwise, a softball jersey from Mick's Office in Moorhead or a soccer jersey from Augsburg.

P.S.  I forgot.  For the right amount of money perhaps I could be persuaded to part with my limited edition, collectors' item 2007 Macalester commemorative t-shirt when they played their last game at the Cage. Or I could make a few phone calls & see if I could scrounge up a UST "white-out" tshirt.

Any of these items sure to be a hit at the next Wonka family holiday gathering.

Just a few highlights to get you through the holidays. Check out Top Play number 1. It is very Chambers-esque.

Augsburg is handling George Fox, the out of town visitors from the Northwest conference with schools located in Oregon & Washington.  9 minutes or so left in the 2nd half & the Dawgs are up 66-43.

Ironic that George Fox would come to MN & WI play a pair of games against Augsburg & UW-River Falls in the heart of winter, while the Midwest teams are trying to make like snowbirds & are travelling to Arizona, California, Hawaii & Texas.  Full credit to George Fox for at least making an attempt to schedule a competitive basketball schedule.
