I have it on good authority that Hanson is currently developing his version of this dance to do after Wednesday's victory...

And for you bandwagon jumpers — I'm looking at you, Drake — GOLD is the color to wear if you hope to infiltrate the GAC student section.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

SMU looked solid tonight. MUCH improved over 2+ years ago to say the least. They had trouble with UST's press/defense, but were lights out on offense , hitting 8 threes in a row (inlcuding the last 6 of the first half). They were perrfect in 18 FTAs... a sign of a disciplined club, something not usually associated with SMU pre-Landrum. They WILL be a playoff team if not a top 4 team in 2010-11 and if they play like they did tonight, they will make the playoffs this year, too.

Playoffs?!?! :o :o :o

Let's keep this thing in perspective. The Cards deserve all the credit for knocking down open shots, hitting free throws, and rebounding well against a more athletic opponent. On the other side, UST took them lightly and basically tried to take the night off. SMU did a nice job not allowing that to happen but I still think UST wins this game 10 times out of 10.

All in all, they are 2-5 and still have to play CON and AUG in their last three games of the first round. So again I say, Playoffs?!?!

HUHOOPS, you are probably right about their chances for the playoff chances this year, but their is a lot of season left to be played and with exception of one bad loss, they have been in every game which is a huge improvement over last season. Whenever you have two players as good as Wright and Holland, you have a chance to win games, and as we see their supporting cast develop and get better as the season goes on, we could still see them make a push for the playoffs at the end. It's looking more unlikely because a 2-5 hole isn't easy to climb out of but you never know.

They need to go 4-1 in there next 5 games to have a legitimate shot down the stretch to make the playoffs. In this five game stretch they play the two teams they have already beat in MAC and BU, and they also play the 3 teams directly ahead of them in the race for the last few spots in the playoffs. If they don't do this, their hopes for the playoffs are done.

Gac...I was definitely only referring to this year. I like the SMU team a lot more after last night than I did when I saw them at Hutton. Palmer is going to be a beast in the MIAC and I like the Sims kid off the bench. I wish Holland would try to step up more when their offense is struggling. Only 6 shots against UST and only 4 against HU. He's a guy you need taking 12-15 shots, especially on such a young team.

Unfortunately, they are just too far behind in the conference in this young season. I'm willing to bet that the top 6 right now (UST, GAC, SJU, HU, AUG, CON) are the 6 playoff teams in Feb.

I'm thinking this might be the earliest prediction of the playoff teams in my years following the Board!

Although it sounds like this year might actually show the clearest division between the playoff and non playoff teams. Lots of basketball yet to be played!!

I always thought Hanson was more of an "Icky Shuffle" kind of guy or maybe the "Dirty Bird"?

Or perhaps he would go old school and just gladly shake Fritz' hand and act like he has been there before?

Whalen is back! There went my afternoon off.....the Lynx will stay afloat for a few more years I guess.

Now, if we could only find McCarville the magic might be back.

PI, referencing the WNBA should result in some type of board penalty, but you typically have good posts, so we will let this one slide ;)

She must have taken the same public speaking classes as Wade Phillips.

From the underlined parts of the quoted posts, you see three players that can play at a very high level and another that is starting to emerge. Besides maybe Nicolai/Scott, there's no better 1-2 guard combo than Wright/Holland when they are at their best. There's another kid (Burfeind) that is 6'7" and is getting more and more comfortable... they just need a true post presence/defender and they will be scary. Middle of the pack this year, playoffs next year IMO.

I'm not sure why they have slumped so badly lately (6 game losing streak). I see them snapping it tomorrow versus Olaf.

SUMMIT!!!!!

If you want to keep it in perspective, please ytake note the phrase I highlighted in bold...IF THEY PLAY LIKE THEY DID TONIGHT. In other words, if the Cards consistently put up solid performances like the one they had vs UST, they will make the playoffs. I'm not saying they WILL make the palyoffs (this year) but they have the POTENTIAL, whch is something I've said about Hamline teams in the recent past. Unfortunately, those Hamline teams never reached that potential. I've seen every team in the league play this year, and what I saw Monday of SMU was a 4-6th place perfromance.

Time will tell if these Cards are able to make the playoffs or if they are like teams you are accustomed to seeing.

She's not the best interview. But you piece things together and eliminate the ums.

Sorry Papa.

maniac...

Sorry to offend. I thought I was pretty clear in saying I liked the SMU team and that they have some really nice pieces in place. 2-5 is just tough to dig out of, especially when you're on a 6 game skid.

Nonetheless, I hope that was therapeutic  :)

I anticipate this year's HU team will be the exception to your recent disappointments ;D

I'm anticipating a large crowd tonight for the UST vs. GAC. There were 2700 people at last year's game, which was the highest attended game in the MIAC last year and you could argue that this one holds a little more significance than last year's game. Should be fun.

Should be a packed house. Does Gustavus hold a January term or is school in session right now? That should play a major role in the attendance.
