Any gratuitous shots of the Crazies during the breaks in the action.  :)

Yes, the Carlson Crazies were particularly inspired during the Wheaton game (aka "Ninja Night" for the Crazies).

Bethel 82, Saint Mary's 79
St. Thomas 75, St. Olaf 47
Hamline 84, Macalester 57
Carleton 84, Saint John's 68
Gustavus 79, Concordia 72

And suddenly SJU is tied with Hamline for fourth place - 1/2 game behind Auggie Tech

Looking over the GAC box score and two quick things jumped out at me:

John Fraase 4 points, 1 rebounds, two fouls, no PT available. Did he get hurt or is he struggling more than even I've suggested?

Schmidtnecht with 11 pts, 8 rebs and 6 asts. Pretty nice production in a game Anderson was very quiet.

For all their recent struggles, the Gusties have to LOVE holding a 2.5 game lead over the Auggies for the second bye.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Gacman

I watched the game on their live feed and it was a pretty solid production.

Fraase played the whole game, but was just outmatched.  There was nothing special about this game except for two things. Olmsheid is the only reason this game was even close. Every time the gusties would stretch out the lead to double digits, he would single handedly bring them right back but it wasn't enough as the gusties methodically won this game with efficiency. Second, outside of Olmsheid, the gusties shut the rest of the team down with solid defense holding the cobbers to 41% shooting. Also, Van Sickle had a very nice game today which helped counter some of what Olmsheid was doing.

The gusties missed 14 freethrows which is a little alarming. WW pointed this out a week ago and I tried to dismiss it with the fact we made when they counted which they did, but nonetheless GAC will need to be more efficient from the line down the stretch.

Hopefully the gusties can keep winning to keep the pressure on UST as we approach the strectch run.
The second mouse always gets the cheese.

A little bit of a bitter-sweet feeling today over at MAC. Although blowouts are never much fun, it's always nice to see everyone get a chance to play. You've got to give it to the Scots, they play hard the entire game no matter what the score is.

Odds and ends:

MAC:

* Colin Keeley is a nice player. Rangy, athletic, shoots from the outside.
* Pierce Peters is going to be a very good MIAC player. He played really hard today and did a nice job getting to the basket.
* No Paul Richie today, not sure why. They didn't seem to have any other perimeter threats, so it was tough for them to get clean looks inside.
* I wouldn't be shocked, but semi-surprised if they don't beat a single team again this year.

HU

* Too many TO's (21)
* Great three point shooting (12/17--70%)
* Bench played really well (59 of 84 total points)
* Brown had an attempted 360 dunk a little ways into the second half that could have made Sportscenter, had it been completed.
* Overall, sloppy performance.

Rieg was 5-for-5 and Anderson was 4-for-4. That's nice production.

Brown also a modest 2/2 from three  :o :D

I would go as far as to bet a steak dinner at Mancini's that St. Thomas has never lost a game that "Yorky" has reffed...

We have a winner!

Obviously, the other 2 refs HAD to be USJ alums   ;D ;D ;D

Yes - Never is a long time...  Get me an address and I will pay up. :'(

But even as a Tommie Alum - my point is that when you see an official working a game with direct ties to any school "regardless of how good" makes it LOOK like a conflict of interest..

I am all for taking your kids to work - but when you show up to work and your kid is wearing the opposing schools gear....  it does not help the credibility...  :-[

For another Dinner??? .... I bet there would have been some unhappy Gopher fans on the day Tubby had his first press conference - if his son Saul would of been sitting there in the crowd with a Wisconsin sweatshirt on......  :o

Maybe what needs to happen is a meeting before an MIAC playoff game or the title tilt where 24-7 picks up AO's beer tab...that should be payoff enough maybe a burger to boot and if its at MAC or CSP then the Nook would be a place to go.

I'm not sure the Nook can fit the enormous egos of this board. We should bring back the MIAC Championship Cookout. We sure had some fun during its run.

From Pat Russell pulling up in a Diesel truck with a gas grill in the back at UST (the temp dropped 30 degrees during that cookout and, yes, CMob was on roller skates) to "Welcome OneArmedScott and MIAC Fans" at the old liquor store on Broadway and 169 in St. Pete to Sean Sweeney digging the Sheep costume at UST.......great times.

I believe I made it to four straight - twice at UST and twice at GAC.

that day was so much fun...just wish they would have let me wear the roller skates into the game and it would have been nice if CAR would have pulled off the victory

how many years has "yorkie" been reffing miac bball?  i have not see a UST game he reffed but i assume USTs record was pretty darn good during that time span with or without him blowing the wistle...also...does he resemble a yorkshire terrier??

WHAT THE HELL GOPHERS! tubby and the crew broke my heart yesterday...I NEED ONE FROM THE VIKINGS TODAY!!!

SKOL VIKINGS!!

hopefully you can all celebrate the vikings win with the boombalahty of your choice  ;D

How about those Knights? Two good wins this week against GAC and SJU. Seth Jonker (Jonkey Kong) has really stepped up his game this year scoring inside and out. Rosett is rebounding and scoring and the whole team is playing really good defense. In the first half yesterday the Knights got all those buckets that could go either way in a game. In the second half the Johnnies put on a press that Davis handled with his almost boring ease. He is an interesting guard that may be the best in the league at getting the ball up court. Against the Tommies press he would wait for the double team and then make the right pass. No flash, he rarely dribbles behind the back or through his legs, just a move and go. Good contributions from the freshman...the Knights are starting to play as a team.

Tough game Vikes! What a poetic ending for Favre, though...  :) now you know how we felt!

I'm hearing rumblings out of Northfield that Torrell dropped the hammer on Archer early in Saturday's game. Some people in the stands didn't even think he could dunk...but he proved them wrong in emphatic fashion, apparently. It may have been the only bright spot in St. Olaf' 13-point first half...but it sounds like a good one.

Was anyone there? Can we get a first-hand account?

Well I can honestly its nice to be done with Carleton for now at least...They really played well, shooting the ball well, coming out with great energy and made key plays down the stretch anytime SJU thought they were getting momentum going.   I would imagine the Js are a little dissapointed with their performance especially compared to the second half of the Bethel game...it was almost 180 especially on the defensive end.

SJU has the bye on Wednesday...so they have a few extra days to get ready for a must win matchup against the Cardinals.

Gophers are headed for the NIT...they better take Northwestern seriously...Viking fan, well let's just say you have now been baptized into the life of backing Brett Favre...I hope I don't hear too much of "he lost the game for us", you signed him, its not like you didn't know what he was all about, and all of you drooled the drool of regret into the pillow of remorse last night and for the rest of the off season.

Oh and Sensei' Sager...chalk that one up to a little Lombardi Trophy magic

miacsuperfan

waddya think?  will ten wins get you a playoff spot in this very even league?   will the real sju, car, aug and con teams please stand up?   it's hard to figure johnnies dropping four of five, and aug losing by 20 at home to vipes.  carleton's resurgence is a bit surprising, coming on the heels of a bad loss at home to bu.
