Bethel's floor definitely has some "spring" to it.  I wouldn't be surprised if the rims were 9'9", because it definitely feels like it.  On the other hand, it might have just been the rivalry juices flowing as there's nobody more satisfying to beat than bethel.

Uhhh...whatever you say, AO  ::)
You can't tell me you didn't like playing on bethel's floor.  The lund center's floor is dead in comparison.

I suppose for a guy like me who is not exactly known for his high-flying ability, it's a little easier to tell the difference.

Does anyone else love what Andy Gresziak-Grimm (AUG) brings to the table? He could be a beast in two years. Super long and athletic.

Avon it would be nice to see how you are coming up with these numbers....how much does each category (pts, asts, rbs, blks, fg%, 3pt%, stls) weigh into your statistics of the GS, GSM, GSGM.

SUMMIT!!!!!

Buddo-
I like the potential A G-G has...I was expecting a breakout year from his this season, but its been a bit of a soph slump for him so far.

Two seasons of watching him, Palmer, Blacklock and Hannon go at it could be very interesting. It could be a new era of power in the paint in the MIAC
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

I was always very indifferent to Bethel's floor and crowd. SJU on the other hand...those rims always seemed super low and its fans weren't afraid to get rowdy.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Those fans were much rowdier back in the day...just ask Poppa Wonka about them.  :)  The floor there does seem springier (if there is such a word) than most. BU and Olaf seem to have a bit of a bounce too. Cord has hard, unforgiving rims.

Whats people's impression of Mac's new gym? Good for shooters? tough? fair? That white canopy hanging over the one window seems to me like it would be distracting during 3 pm games.

Very interesting reading...I expected Jonker to be higher  ;).  Things really tighten up when you take a look at the numbers in the per minute format.  +K for the work Avon and the commentary that followed.

SJU definitely has a nice floor as well but I was always a little thrown off by the fact that they seem to put the rim in the middle of the backboard.

Glad to see you putting your support behind the increasing groundswell for Seth Jonker.  :-* Jonkey Kong baby!

Based on mid season returns I don't think many of us have much of a quibble with Avon's All-Conference selections.  It will be interesting to see if Mark Torell ends up making any of the final AC teams. With a player like Torell, his chances of making AC are almost in direct proportion to how well he & his Oles do in the 2nd half of the season.  Know commodities like Wright & Holland at SMU will probably make All Conference if they put up their usual stats & the Red Birds struggle in the 2nd half.

My one wish for the MIAC basketball coaches – name 3 All Conference teams. Their football counterparts name a first & second team, & they've got more players to sort through. Why don't the basketball coaches?  Any of the older historians know the answer to this?  I'm looking at you Mose.  ;D

AO, the gusties just got new hoops this year. Before that they have had the hoop higher up on the backboard like SJU for whatever that's worth. But I do like the new hoops better than the old ones.

SJU was always my favorite place to shoot. The rims are really soft, I like the lighting, and for some reason the nets they used gave it a better feel. I would say BU is right up there on most shooters lists and also, the old MAC gym. I know a lot of people who liked shooting in there.
The second mouse always gets the cheese.

Be careful what you wish for, Drake. The MIAC football coaches put 17 players on their "first team" in 2009, including two quarterbacks. Four quarterback were included on the first or second team, which is nearly half the league.

It's a bigger joke than what happens in basketball.

That's right – I forgot about that brouhaha in football.  Sad. ::)

Interesting story here, though the actual writing is sketchy. It might set a record for most quotes ever used in one article.
