Jeez, 16 first-teamers. Guess all the children truly are above average.

Don't forget, final three-plus hours to enter the D3hoops.com bracket challenge.

You have extra time for the women's bracket, since the first game isn't until 4 p.m. ET on Friday.

As I've complained before, the coaches don't have the cojones to name a first, second, or 3rd team.  ::)

Preparing for a controversial wind farm meeting tonight...but it looks like I should also have been prepping for the coaches blowing all kinds of smoke again. I'll weigh in more later, but I think it's pretty obvious the voters value wins more than any personal production.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

More musings on the conference awards.

* Augsburg's Brett Sorenson over Carleton's Bryan Rosett on the All Defensive team?

*Willy - thats' not necessarily true. Check out the All-Sportsmanship team - Eren Cur from Augsburg.  Not to pick on him but I just checked the stats:

Cur appeared in 5 games all season for a total of 11 minutes, and one conference game for a total of 0+ minutes.  What production?  ;)

Now mind you, I liked Augsburg's team a lot this year, but those choices seem kind of shaky to me.

*If the coaches are givng out awards to all of greater Minnesota, nobody makes the All Sportsmanship team from St. Olaf?

*I'll leave the 400 lb purple gorilla sitting over in the corner alone & let someone else go after that one.  :)

Maybe if the tommies went something like 15-5 in conference, the winning aspect might not factor in quite as much....

hey, this year's 'purple elephant' award (nicolai over hipp, sutherland, brown, burtzel, jonker, go ahead and pick some more----it doesn't matter) makes way more sense than the previous year's pick of joe scott over zach johnson, tim madson, and nate alm!!  heck, i thought nicolai was more valuable than scott LAST YEAR!  win factor or not, last year's fiasco still takes the cake.   :-[  ::)

it was a relief to see that scott made the 16 man all-conference team.   :P

jesse van sickle was the only player to fall from last year's all-connie team to honorable mention, and  bryan rosett fell off the all-defensive team. ???

so that drake palmer doesn't think that i don't read his stuff, let's make that the 'purple gorilla' award.  and rosett's all-defensive team absence had also been previously pointed out by the omniscient one.  sorry drake.   :-[

COME ON... 16 first-teamers?? You could divide that into at least two teams, god forbid three. And they should name a freshman of the year.

Unfair! Unfair! They obviously need to expand the various All-MIAC teams, because they're leaving people out! ::)

Good point. In fact, after seeing them play this year several times and reviewing their year end stats, it is hard to say Nicolai was clearly more valuable than Healy for his own team ???.  I will agree, however,  that the oversight of Zach Johnson last year was far worse than this year's selection. The early favorites this year, Brown and Burtzel, played on teams that faltered at the end, thus costing them the POY in the eyes of MIAC coaches, who obviously now think POY is really the MVP on the first place team. Had playoff performance been taken into account, my guess is Jeremy Sutherland would have gotten the award as the MVP of the championship team ;)

UST vs Anderson preview

UST will have its hand full going against Neil Anderson...they are all well aware of what this 1 man team is capeable of doing as he played for UST only a few years ago...since then he has been roaming from mens league to mens league dominating on the offensive end of the court...no one can stop him...not even former timberwolves player Chris Carr...Neil took it upon himself to start his own college team...suprisingly he had a very successful season even though it was 5 on 1 every night...it was exhausting and after 2 games he realized he needed to switch it up from a full court press to a 1 man half court trap zone if he was going to be able to endure the long season...by making this switch he would either cause a turnover or the other team would score...keeping his rebounding average below 1 per game which still irks WillyWonka ...Mr. Anderson from the matrix was the only other person to try out for the team at the start of the year and he was the final cut just days before the first game...Neil said he had to cut him because anytime he threw him a pass he would dodge it in slow motion...Neil knows the UST program well so this should be a very good game...Neil was quoted..."i think it all comes down to rebounding...if i can get the 2 offensive rebounds on the only 2 shots i will miss i think i will be in good shape"

Yes, Pat, we live in the day and age where everyone gets a trophy as we wouldn't want to be insensitive and hurt anyone's feelings.   :o

It's really ridiculous.
