Ah. He's got a potty mouth. OK, that's what I wanted to know.

The legalistic among us will not find a stricture against profanity in the Bethel covenant to which DP linked, although it is explicitly frowned upon in the preamble to the document. So I guess that as a Bethel player he's got a loophole if he wants to let fly with a few &*$&@+#!s if he gets angry on the court. However, he may have some trouble if the Bethel coach, AD, and/or dean is a "spirit of the law, not the letter of the law" type.

Rumor mill has 2-3 players leaving Hamline this spring, kids who contributed this year.  What's going on over there?

I would believe it.  ;)

As to what's going on over there, I would say the same old. Is Whitmore known for his retention of players?

Exhibit 1: Carl Hipp was the lone senior from Whitmore's first freshman class which consisted of 8 freshman.

They do, however, explicitly prohibit what got Brandon Davies dismissed at BYU. ;)  How cute is his girlfriend? :o :D

BTW, Greg, I think your analysis of BYU is absolutely correct.  I guess we'll see for sure if they ever have another Jim McMahon-caliber fball player who is not a 'saint' (latter-day or otherwise). :D

A quick facebook search might answer some questions. I have also heard the Hamline rumors. Whitmore might have lost some guys but he kept the right one with the man in the middle. Hipp deserves all the post season accolades he's received.

I was worried that I might find someone in his family had cancer thinking of Paul Carter's transfer from the Gophs this year, so I'd say his reason for transferring should be celebrated.

Next stage of his life? If you're a good friend give us some info. What's the real story?

I'd rather not. Why would I give out info on a friend's private life on a public message board? Let it be. I only posted the link because it appeared in the city paper.

Whitmore was lucky to retain Hipp at Hamline, but regardless of the coach Hipp would have been at Hamline for his basketball career given his family connections.

SUMMIT!!!!!

DRAKE-
you are a person of your word.  I followed your instructions, and went to Schroeders on Front St. They had to see my ID but they proceded to comp me a half chicken meal, courtesy of you.  COnsider your bets paid off....and the chicken was nearly as good as you raved about. Hopefully it is as magical as Kims!

On that note...I see UST scraping and clawing but pulling out a 53-51 win tonight over the trees of VT in the first "Ice Cream Bowl"-- named for the fact that UST is a few miles from Dairy Queen's HQ and Middlebury is a few miles from Ben & Jerry's HQ.

nice piece by Souhan:

That's a really nice article... but I'm not sure where Souhan gets his info that Fritz has the highest winning percentage of current D-III coaches...

Pat Miller at Whitewater is 74.9% and Bob Semling of Stevens Point is 81.5%.

That said, I'm rooting for Fritz to get another couple of W's this weekend!

UST headed for finals wins 59-57. WAY TO GO TOMMIES!!!!!!

SUMMIT!!!!!

my oh my!  I guess I owe TH4L an apology....maybe there should have been a lot of discussion about a deep postseason run by UST.  This team has been amazing in the clutch...they struggled some in Mid-Jan, part due to inconsistentcy and part to the flu bug, but the past 4 weekends, they have been in a groove and on a roll that keep snowballing from game to game. This is one of the finest runs by any team in MIAC basketball history.

Awesome play all around tonight, but my 2 favorites were Teddy Archer draining 4 consecutivfe FTs (something I thought Id never see) and the game clinching steal and layup by Hannon...the joy on Tommy's face was so sweet to see.

Wooster is going to be a formidable opponent.....UST is 3-2 against the Scots, but all games were at WC.... I expect another nailbiter....but see UST winning 67-62

Mad D baby, that's the purple calling card.  Wow!

My hat's off to the baby-faced muggers - that's some serious defense.

Go get 'em tomorrow afternoon.

Go get that title Tommies!  My crystal ball says UST 74 - Wooster 68.

Hey gentlemen, I am all over this Tommie bandwagon.  You can feel the love from the twin cities television news stations---the MIAC has looked awesome this year with Royal/Tommie national football excitement and now Tommies rocking the D3 hoops world.
There is one more win in the Cats tank; I like your number Maniac.   What an amazing run by a team that has really been playing with 'house money' for several games now.
One more time guys!!  Good luck. :) 8-)

Note:  The (ostensibly) Chris Palmer transfer to Bethel is interesting.  Other than Luke Schmidt's defection  from Carleton to GAC during his MIAC career, have there been additional 'name' players in recent memory to pull off the intra-MIAC swap?  :-\
