Stewart is better than "good, solid".  He is a potential four year starter.

NC- this ain't no tweet, or movie trailer.  You gotta give us a little more than - "he's a potential 4 year starter."  Based on what?  Throw  us some stats, figures, scouting reports, a little more substantive opinion than a 1 sentence statement.    ;)

Right?   :P

Augsburg and UST rosters are posted

The Dawgs seem to have mostly recruited FY guards, with a couple of upperclassmen transfers.  I'm not familiar with most of the names.

Tommies get the heir apparent to Tyler Nicolai in FY PG, Marcus Alipate from Bloomington Kennedy. They also picked up a couple of key recruits, forward/post players -Connor Nord & Dylan Stewart from state champion Eden Prairie. Strictly a guess - Alipate is the "blue chipper", while Nord & Stewart are good solid recruits.  I've seen Alipate play 3-4 times in high school & know that he's the real deal.  Aside from watching Nord & Stewart on TV at the state tourney, I know very little about them & their abilities.

Is the St. Thomas roster correct??  I notice you wrote FY PG Marcus Alipate, and I was under the impression he'll be a freshman...but he's listed as a sophomore on the website.

Stewart and Nord are both capable scorers, but they could stand to add a little bulk.   4year starters if they went to St. Mary's or Macalester, but I'm guessing Hannon and Pedretti and having fun pushing them around thus far.  The EP Eagle I was really impressed with last year when I went to their defeat of Hopkins is going to Gustavus.  Grant Soderberg is a gunner with good court vision.

The new auggie guard I recognized was Carter Cross, pg out of Hill Murray.  Saw him play at Tartan last year and he handled the pressure well.  Though when I matched up against him at Lifetime a couple months ago, all he wanted to do was shoot 3's. I was hoping to get more of a workout in by having to chase him around. and we all know how important lifetime games can be.

Pedretti is on Football roster along with Maloney so I don't know if they practice yet.
Only way to figure out what the new coaching staff has in mind will be to drive to Winona tomorrow.

there's a couple of other errors of class year on the site, but I think the roster is correct :)

Right?   :P

Here, let's try this:

Dylan Stewart, now there's a hooper. At 6-3, he's long, lean, lanky, athleticism oozing out of every pore, & can jump out of the gym.  Stewart was taught well by former Gustie great, Doug Espenson who is an assistant coach at Eden Prairie.  Stewart drives to the rack as effectively as a young Espenson, & should thrive in the Tommie offensive system.

A more than capable scorer, Stewart can light it up from the outside & was a career 43% FG shooter from the 3pt line for Eden Prairie.  With his stroke he'll probably remind some of UST's Joe Scott or SJU's Tyler Westman.

On the defensive side of the ball he & UST's John Nance should be lockdown defenders out on the wing. Stewart should be a cinch for the ALL-MIAC FY team.

Now there's a declarative post.

Caveat – The above post is strictly tongue in cheek & as far as I know, may be completely untrue. 8-)

Personally – Although I was reasonably impressed with the Eden Prairie team & their players, they appeared to be over matched in the state championship game against Hopkins.

For the MIAC, Stewart is an upper level athlete.  He can really score, especially slashing to the basket.  He has the length and aforementioned athleticism to be a good defender.  He is a D2 level player playing D3.  I also remember the last player that could "stand to add a little bulk" as a freshman did pretty well for himself - Tyler Nicolai I believe was his name.

SUMMIT!!!!!

Sheesh, crusty?  What would you say if Willy Wonka was posting?  Now that's crusty. ;) Me & NCA11 are tight. In a relatively barren posting period, I was simply trying to prime the pump so we can get more posts and a flow of intelligent posts flowing. Some posters & their posts notwithstanding.  :)  Love you too Barbara!

Speaking of Wonka, Gustie roster is posted. And for another year, Gustavus is able to successfully defend their recruiting border against the upstart UMAC conference & the Gusties' backyard rival – Bethany Lutheran.  Aside from Grant Soderberg from Eden Prairie, 5 of 6 freshmen are from southern MN.  Interestingly, none of the recruited FY are listed as post players.  Cue AO...

I also agree that Taylor Hall has athletic ability that not many others in the MIAC possess. Hopefully he capitalizes on those skills this year.

SMU / UW-RF scrimmage did not keep score, but an estimate from River Falls says that the Falcons beat the Cards by around 40. Ouch.

I would love to see someone other than Carleton/UST win the MIAC tournament, and this could be the year. I have always liked St. Olaf's senior class with Fong/Jaryan/Neville, and some key side pieces like Gunderson could put them over the top.

You could say that UST is "rebuilding" this year, but with a strong JV program and consistently good recruiting, they always seem to have the cupboards stocked. I feel like Alipate could end up being the next Nicolai for UST, starting for four years. He was definitely considering playing at a higher level, and I was somewhat surprised to see him sign up at UST.

It's a little-known fact that the mysterious DP's birth name was actually Drake Krustofsky.

Ha.  Personally, if you're going to saddle me with addiction issues, I'm partial to Brian from Family Guy.  :)

St. John roster is posted. I'm not sure how the Johnnies will fare in the league this season, but without a doubt, as a team they are the early front runners for the Palmer Freshman All-Name Team.  They are loaded with quality Freshman names.  Thus far, my top 2 favorites are Dylan Dangerfield & Otto Pfefferle.  In my best Dick Vitale voice –"Are you kidding me?!? PT baby!  Those are some seriously deep names."  :o ;D
