Nelson Whitmore the new Assistant AD at Hamline? http://www.hamline.edu/HUPopUp.aspx?id=4294979430

Former Bethel and Macalester Assistant (Hamline, too, right?) Dan Perrel staying closer to home with his new job: http://www.chanvillager.com/scoreboard/briefs/dan-perrel-hired-at-mayer-lutheran/article_32c36883-688b-50e2-a85c-b52a4d8400f1.html

Good seeing a former Piper last night. Looked like he could still fire a few shots from "downtown" even in his old(er) age.  :)

Any other MIAC news out there?

Drake Palmer

Phew, thought I'd better stop by and check out the dusty old room.  Almost forgot my password.  :)

Hope everyone had a good summer!

If the weather cooperates Saturday night, I might stop by & get a little taste of MIAC football when the Cardiac Cards - Augsburg Dawgs, take on the Hamline Pipers. This is two years in a row they've had a spectacular, last second win on the road. I realize it's not basketball, but it might help get the old college hoops jones flowing.

I'm guessing somewhere, Willy Wonka was complaining bitterly about his Gusties' porous pass defense in the last second loss to Augsburg this past Saturday. Yowch!  Great win for the Dawgs, tough way to go down for Gustavus.

Any news on incoming FY across the MIAC this season?

Well, there's a slow trickle of news coming in. Preliminary rosters are up at Carleton, Macalester, and St. Olaf.

A few more rosters are posted...Augsburg, Gustavus.  Upon initial review, the Dawgs look like they'll be running a lot of smurf ball, & a very light recruiting year down at St. Peter.

Wow, Bethel is not the last school to upload their roster this year.  Now if they could just get their game scores posted quicker.. ;) Bethel and St. Johns.

Hmm, seems like the rumor mill (ahem Mose  ;)) was wrong this spring and Taylor Hall did decide to return for his senior season. This could make the MIAC race more interesting.

Coincidentally, looks like the Oles' Nathan Kuck has a younger brother attending SJU this year - FY guard Mitchell Kuck.

St. Thomas roster is up, have not done much research yet, but looks like they got a D1 transfer from St. Louis University - Jimmy Remke who was a preferred walk on and All-state honerable mention, All-confrence, Pioneer Press player of the week twice, Captain, St.Thomas All Tourney Team.

Will continue to gather information.

Hmm, the rich appear to just keep getting richer.   :-[ The Tommies picked up a couple of guard/wings from Cretin in the quick Cortez Tillman, & talented, but injury prone (?)Taylor Montero, the Sjoberg kid from St. Thomas Academy, plus pick up 2-3 quality biggs??  I guess the press attack & platoon style subbing won't be abandoned anytime soon at UST.

Hannon must have gotten another year of eligibility with his injury last year??  That's huge for St. Thomas.

Wow - UST is up by 10, 78-68 over Winona with 4:30 left in the game at Winona!

Wow is right!  Tommies hold off Winona State 93-83.  Some interesting stats

UST shot 40.3% from inside the arc

15-28 for 53.6% from behind the 3 pt line

They led WSU at the half by 16, 47-31.

Their last FG in the 2nd half came with 6:44 left in the game.

UST salts away the win with some outstanding FT as they shot 28-32 for 87.5%.

And in a high scoring game, neither team had that many TOs.  13 for Winona, 11 for UST.

Hmm, somewhere Mose is gloating.  ;)

I wonder if Garrett Maloney and David Simmet still plan on joining the basketball ranks once the football football season is complete in in Salem ;-)  I also liken the talents of Ryan Krueger to that of former Tommie Anders Halverson only with more aggressiveness and tenacity.

ho hum,  #11 from D3 beats #11 from D2.  what else is new.  I thought St. Thomas was trying to be the Boston College of the MidWest.  You don't get there by spending $800k to avoid playing North Carolina so you can schedule some cream-puff winona teachers college team.

Cord roster is posted http://concordiamn.prestosports.com/sports/mbkb/2012-13/roster

Looks like the Cobbs picked up John Fraase's younger brother - Tom Fraase; some FY guards, one bigg, & a surprising recruit from Eastview in Apple Valley.  You don't typically see too many kids from the southern burbs head up to Moorhead.

SMU's roster is also posted http://www.saintmaryssports.com/roster.aspx?path=mbball&

The Redbirds picked up another Swiggum.  Any relation to the other MIAC Swiggums? Plus the basketball coach's kid from Rushford-Peterson - Trent Vix.

Hamline is the only MIAC school who has not posted their roster. Hope the new associate AD responsibilities aren't weighing down the coach.   ;)
