There is basically no chance any games after this weekend are played, and I'd say a very small chance that the weekend's games go forward.  Definitely a disappointing way to end the season, but I think it is clearly the right call given the rapidly changing dynamics of this virus.

And with that, the 2019-20 seasons have come to a sudden end.

What a week it has been in college basketball. Exactly a week ago, as we hit the air, the first signs that COVID-19 was going to impact the NCAA Tournaments was seen. Since then, it has been a whirlwind.

Tonight on Hoopsville, we try and make sense of one of the stranger finishes in history for NCAA events. What started with isolated closings of gyms for games ends a week later in all games being called off through the rest of the academic year.

We will chat with those who were preparing for games on Friday and hear their reactions to the seasons coming to a close so quickly.

Guests Schedule (order subject to change):
- Michelle Ferenze, No. 10 Whitman women's coach
- John Krikorian, Christopher Newport men's coach
- Cheri Harrer, No. 9 Baldwin Wallace women's coach

Hoopsville is presented by D3hoops.com and airs from the WBCA/NABC Studio. You can watch Thursday's show LIVE starting at 7:00 p.m. ET in the following ways:

Wow, that is too bad we won't be able to see St. Thomas v St. John's #4

Now that the season has come to an abrupt end, what's up for next year?

St. John's loses two senior starters in addition to two senior reserves. St. Thomas also loses two senior starters.

I presume no one will catch them even with their losses.

No, UST only loses one starter (Anderson). Also losing MIAC 6th man of the year Hannah. There is a possibility that Anderson - who missed his entire sophomore season with injuries- could come back but I'm expecting he will graduate in May and pass up the 5th year.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

Thanks for the correction.  I mistakenly had Hannah as a starter. Unfortunately, he had starter numbers and his graduation will be a huge loss, not unlike losing a starter.

Johnnies defeat Tommies 120-119 in NCAA playoff game.*

*Fictional account as tweeted by Boz Bostrom.  Very entertaining https://twitter.com/BozBostrom or https://www.facebook.com/boz.bostrom/posts/10157941194792980

In real life it would have been Johnnies by 20.

I had Bethel winning in my fictional account of the championship game...which launched them into a surprising run through the national tournament where they brought home the team's first national title.  ;D

The D3 hoops all American teams were revealed last night on Hoopsville and the MIAC has two representatives, Booker Coplin and to my surprise, Kent Hanson! If you want to read why Kent was selected, go ahead and read the All American thread in the Multi-Regional heading to get an idea.

I stated it in my original comments over there, but I think Jubie should have been recognized over Kent. But they make a team of 5 that can take the court together so they try and have an even enough balance of G and F, which is something I find helpful for the most part. But because Jubie is categorized as a G and there is a lot more competition nationwide for guards, he was left off. Which is understandable I don't think he was a sure fire AA selection, per se.

Massey had UST and SJU as the top two teams in the nation this year, they were both top 10 (basically top 5) teams in d3hoops.com for most of the year, but neither had a selection on either NABC or D3hoops All America list. Honestly, outside of Jubie being a fringe Candidate, this is correct and shows how deep and balanced and well coached those two teams were this year.

Good for Kent Hanson.

If he played 25 games a year against St. Olaf instead of just two, he would probably be first team AA and perhaps drafted late in the second round by the Raptors.

Im sure most people would rather be part of a great team than get a bunch of individual honors. I'm sure that, 20 years down the road, the guys playing for UST & SJU will have many many fond memories of their team's success and be able to share them with one another.. . whereas a guy getting AA honor while playing on a mediocre team will have a plaque and few memories of his playing days beyond "I was pretty good"
