Little nervous. Tough to beat a good team thrice, so they say. Make it boring, take a commanding lead in the first half this time

It is tough to beat a team three times, I agree. My worry from the Johnnie perspective is can they overcome the memory of the first two losses. Carleton is going to have some runs in this game, and the Johnnies have to focus and not think, "here we go again." The final five minutes from the last game between these two teams in Northfield was painful for Johnnie fans.

Media timeouts? I don't remember them doing those

It's a MIAC Tournament thing.

7.2.4  Media Timeouts. Media timeouts in MIAC playoff games will occur at the under 16, 12, 8 and 4 minute marks in both halves. Timeout length is 75 seconds.

Ten point lead for Carleton at half.

No real feeling that the Johnnies have been able to control anything. Rather, they're just trying to keep up. Carleton has done well disrupting the Johnnie offense. The saving grace for the Johnnies is that they're getting to the loose balls for some second hand opportunities.

Congrats to Carleton on winning the MIAC Playoff Championship.

The opening alley-oop made things pretty ominous from the start. Johnnies made a solid effort, but just couldn't hang. Jeremy Beckler was doing what Jeremy Beckler does by hitting just about everything. Let me be the first to wish him all the best after graduating because I won't miss having him beat up on the Johnnies anymore (assuming he's not coming back because of some extra COVID eligibility).

It will be interesting to see the brackets come out and where Carleton ends up. Best of luck to them representing the MIAC.

I think that's a "everybody" thing.

The MIAC does not do media timeouts during the regular season. It could very well be a "everybody" thing come conference playoff time. I wasn't about to search the policy for every other conference.

No media timeouts in the UMAC.  Also got through the Women's title game with just 6 team timeouts.  Reducing the number of timeouts would be very high at the top of my potential rule changes for basketball.  3 per team should be plenty.

Six timeouts plus media timeouts at the under 16, 12, 8 and 4 minute marks in both halves requires no talent whatsoever to manage from a coaching perspective. You can simply call a timeout to stop a run.

NCAA Bracket has been released.

Carleton is headed to Wheaton, Illinois to play St. Norbert in the first round. The winner plays the winner of Wheaton and Illinois College.

The MIAC awards are out.  bball1122 pretty much nailed them.  The only difference was Ba got defensive player of the year instead of Holt.

I don't understand why there aren't first/second/third teams anymore.  Seems silly.

The honorable mentions that bball1122 didn't have in his post were Banovetz and Gibbens from Carleton, and Kobe Kirk from St. Olaf.

There is also an all-tournament team.  Beckler snuck on there somehow, along with his teammates Luke Harris and Matt Banovetz.  Thissen and Vaughn from the runners-up.  And from the non-finalists, Cimperman, Caleb Williams, Kirk, and Breyton Buysman from SMU.

Pat Coleman

A 17-person all-conference team definitely does not help All-Region voters accurately reflect the MIAC, that's for sure.
