To switch around the message view so the newest messages are first, click on your name, then click on "Look and Layout Preferences", from there make sure "show most recent posts at top" is checked, then you should be good to go.

Sorry, nothing noteworthy to report,  just testing out the new message board.   ::)

Personally, I think it makes most sense to go to the West Region topics page and click on the NEW icon next to a conference board with new postings. That takes you directly to the first post on the board you have not seen, and you can read down like normal.

hey everyone, i was recently searching the web and came across this website and i found it very interesting.  so i think i might stay a while and add my input to some of the conversations.

miacsuperfan

let's get the miac hoops talk started soon.  i am guessing all of you guys are sharp enough to handle the new format.  d3 bb season only 3 months away, and i need a basketball fix soon.   let's hear from some of the veteran posters on this site about what we can expect in the upcoming season.

are there any new coaches in the miac this year?    has barry wohler found any kids that can play like he did in high school/college?   will macalaster continue playing in the 'pit?'  will st. johns and st. olaf continue to muddle in mediocrity?   i have followed this league on and off now for the last ten years; i love it and look forward to hearing some answers to my questions.

superfan - Augsburg has a new coach who came from Chaminade in Hawaii.

It sounds like Hamline had an outstanding recruiting class, however whether or not any of the players can put it up like Barry did remains to be seen.

MAC will supposedly move into a new arena next season.  I must say that I look forward to that day.

St. John's should be a playoff team this year considering they return everyone from last season and have some incoming transfers who should make an impact.  I still don't know what is wrong with the Johnnies.

I think that St. Olaf will be better this year, however I just don't see the Oles making the playoffs.

local coach -
thanks for info.   i will, however, disagree with you on the mac arena thing.   that old gym has been my favorite place to watch miac hoops (with the possible exception of hamline's hutton arena.)  i have witnessed some great games in the old pit, and know of a bunch of visiting players who identified it as their favorite venue every year.   the closeness and noise make it a favorite, not to mention some of the endzone fans who really get into it.  (one-armed scot?)   i can't imagine those guys are too excited about the change.

MAC is a terrible basketball arena. While I like how close the fans are to the players, I played in better overall venues when I was in grade school than the one that Macalester has to play in now. It's tough to combine the small school gym feel along with the college basketball arena atmosphere, but MAC needs a bigger, better gym. Also just trying to putz around with the new site here and make sure I can navigate through it.

Hey, who will have the better team between the bottom of the league? St. Mary's, St. Olaf, Hamline, Augsburg, St. John's. Will either one of these team be able to crack the top teams or have a break out year? There has been a lot of talk about the top teams. I was wondering who could be the surprise team of the league.

localcoach

Cardinalboy - I will try to keep the conversation going.  In my humble opinion, both St. John's and Hamline should be playoff teams this season.

As I stated in a previous post, SJU returns its entire team from last year and has some key players transferring in.  My only concern with the Johnnies is will the "system" as I like to call it work.  Coach Smith has been running the same offense for years and its doesn't give his players much freedom.

As far as the Pipers are concerned, again they only graduate 2 players.  Granted they will miss Brandon Aukes, their leading scorer from a year ago, but they return Sam Wiener, who is one of the better point guards in the league, along with 3 other starters in Kyle Foster, Jesse Hendricks, and Charley Good.  They also have a highly touted freshman class, and from what I have heard and briefly seen, two names that you will want to watch for this season are Jon DeRock and Zev Kujolic.  They are both guards and both very athletic and skilled.

That leaves Augsburg, which has a new coach and graduated most of its offense in Lucas Olson-Patterson.  Does anyone have any insight into Auggie recruits?  Then we have St. Mary's who should be much better, though again they don't really have a go-to-guy.  And finally there's the Oles, who I can never figure out.  On paper they should be fairly competitive, although I thought the same thing last year.

Here's a question for everyone.  Are we just giving the conference title to UST?  Can GAC challenege them even with the loss of Espo?  What about Carleton.  Is the combination of Forkrud and Drake enough?
