Drake - Well my friend I was out of town this past weekend so I didn't have a chance to see any scrimmages or practices.   8)

Does anyone know when the MIAC Men's Basketball Media Guide is published?

Anything else new to offer?  Speak up.

I talked with Swanny last night and he said he played in the 2nd league. I looked up his stats a while ago and he was averaging like 24 ppg.

What league was Gilbert playing in?

UST is the 18th against UW-Stout at the Wooster tournament.

GAC's got a home game against Luther on the 19th. Sadly, I cannot attend.

WW- are you going to be availible to attend any games in the metro, say during the work week this year? It'd be nice to see GAC play some games and not have to drive at least an hour each way.

Reporter: Charles, is there anything about the incident you regret?

Sir Charles: Yeah, that we weren't on a higher floor.

BS-

I'll be sad not to see you at the game on the 19th......the only other absentee is in Korea, a much more valid excuse than HatZoneTM   ;)

I'm stuck at work, realizing once again that I'm not smart enough to get my project done. Boss is gone until tomorrow so it's almost like waiting for your own execution.

Another MIAC season is soon upon us. Some predictions from me:

UST finally performs (at least close) to their potential, which is substantial.
GAC gives them a run in the regular season, leading to a great rematch for the playoffs.
Carleton, led by D. Forkrud's MVP-caliber season, stays near the top of the MIAC.
SMU has one crazy poster call that "this is our year" before imploding yet again.
Bethel misses TJ and Giblet more than TJ and Giblet are claiming they will.
Trevor Wittwer dunks on more than one opponent.

Lastly, I lead my fitness center league in scoring, rebounding, and blocked shots, all while carrying 4 middle-aged men to the league championship. It's what I was destined to do since first putting on a real jersey back in the intra-RRC (R.I.P. Rum River Conference) league in 5th grade.

OK, maybe everything except that last one :)

UST finally performs (at least close) to their potential, which is substantial. UST will kick eveyone's butt.
GAC gives them a run in the regular season, leading to a great rematch for the playoffs. If Whippler gets the ball in the post with 10-15 seconds into the shot clock, is the key to GAC's success going to depend on Whippler getting off a shot BEFORE the shot clock runs out?!!!!
Carleton, led by D. Forkrud's MVP-caliber season, stays near the top of the MIAC.I agree, and Drake will be awesome as well.
SMU has one crazy poster call that "this is our year" before imploding yet again.Hope not, Trewick is a good guy.
Bethel misses TJ and Giblet more than TJ and Giblet are claiming they will.BU finds out in big games its still hard to play with both hands wrapped around their throats!!
Trevor Wittwer dunks on more than one opponent.Wow, is that all he can do or is dunking that big a deal in the MIAC? (suppose it is being its loaded with white boys!)

what do people thnk will happen in carleton and concordia's head to head match ups this year?  it seems to me that these games could do a lot to determine the two through five spots.

p...rim: does CC have a strong post defender to handle Forkrud? Will Drake and Eckhoff guard each other....that's an interesting matchup as Drake is a very good defender in addition to being a strong scoring threat.

concordia has two players in its starting five who have the physical tools to grapple with forkrud.  Jason Miller is 6'5 220, and Luke Linz is 6'6 listed at 200 but closer to 225.

obviously, i can't speak for either team.  that said, i would assume on concordia's behalf that eckhoff would not guard drake.  concordia has a player designated for defensive jobs like Drake.  Mark Dixon at 6'4 205 is in the game primarily for one end of the court.  Furthermore, it would surprise me for the cobbers to have their best offensive player (and arguably the best offensive player in the conference) expend valuable energy guarding the other teams most versatile player.  This especially applies in Drake's case as they play different positions and are not similar athletes or bodies.

i believe they will split each team winning their home game by 7 points...tommy drake aka T-Bird is a dangerous threat on both ends of the court and will probably throw down a nasty dunk this year

Carleton's home blowout from last season aside, the Cobbers and Knights always play really tight games that come down to execution in the last minute.  If that is the case for one or both games this year, the Cobbers will have the advantage with Eckhoff.

I predict a split as well, with similar outcomes as last season.  With the exception of '04, the Knights always lose a tight one in Moorhead, but seem to rebound at home.

why doesn't carleton's athletic site list weights?  i would imagine that forkrud has bulked up some.  how far does this bull tip the scales now?

In games between CAR and CON, I think that home court will matter. I mean, come on, the drive alone is a huge deterant for either road team.

Also, in the case of matching up with the Fork down low, you don't need someone who will stop him. I don't know of a person who can stop him in the MIAC if Fork is on that night (yeah, this even goes for Ike at UST). But, as the old SportCenter addage goes, "You can't stop him, you can only hope to contain him." If CON has a couple guys who can bang down low and wear Fork down, then CON will be able to make the rest of CAR beat them, which can still happen, but eventually, you will get to CAR's bench, which I am told is still suspect.

Shocker- Can't wait for this new league of yours to open up. I feel like I'm coming out of retirement to contribute my healthy sense of humor and height and girth (minus all athleticism). I compare it as if Bill Wennington were to come out of retirement to play with the Bulls.

Roster update: I jsut checked the MIAC site for the umpteenth time &  I see that Mac has now added their new roster for the season.  So now that leaves us with the last two stragglers - Augsburg & Bethel who have yet to post their rosters.

By the way OAS, Splash, D3ballfan et al - I didn't recognize any names on the roster who appear to be heirs to the PG throne.  Any insight you care to provide?  The board is lacking in content.
