I know we are talking about Matt Ohme but talking about him reminds me of his older brother Nate who had more turnovers than points as a Cobber starter.

jdowney - I'm sure he could still step right in and start at Gonzaga though, right? :)

funbb - Color me bad, if you want, but I'm just a little skeptical of his game. I hope he does well, because that will just make the conference stronger. It hurts the chances of my Gusties getting into the dance again, but it would be for the good of the league. Things were a lot better when SJU basketball was competitive and they actually had more than 15 students at home games...

Splash - Is four turnovers a lot for a guard? Would you consider it a good game, much less a good season, if you turned it over that much (you averaged 2.6 a year ago)? What about shooting 38% from the field and 30% from deep (you shot 47% and 47%)?

34 and tjones - I've only seen Ohme play a handful of times in person, so maybe his numbers are deceiving. I'm guessing one or both of you guarded him. What did you think of his game?

Alright , I realize it's a couple of days before Thanksgiving, but I think it's time for someone other than the usual MIAC posting regulars   - Willy, CMob, myself, & a handful of the newer posters Funbballer (oldposter/different name?) to do all the heavy lifting on this board.   Even you Local Coach, you've been remiss in your Hamline posting duties.  Why did they have Weiner listed as a forward in the NDSU stats summary, why did DeRock lead the Pipers in assists, etc.?!? Get busy!  And don't get me started on OneArmedScot -  does he even follow hoops anymore?!?

Start posting, give us some news, smack talking, something to chew on other than the turkey we'll be eating in a couple of days.  We can sift through all the usual bull & find the kernels of posting truth!  ;D

If not,  I'm gonna create an alter ego as Son of SofaKing, come back & start posting mad smack i.e. "Conboy fed up with..." ,  Wonka's uncle is Pat Reusse... etc."

"I don't have a problem with a guy shooting, but every time you touch it?"

You gotta love the throwback in Jerry Sloan. Images of Mr. Humphries pounding on the lockerroom door a few years back to get his own post game piece in are running through my mind. I can only imagine how Mr. Sloan would react if he tries that same approach here :)

Someone listen to the GAC game and post scores for me please! I'm running painfully low on GACsters who are willing to travel 3 hours to watch a game and I doubt listening to the internet feed at work is considered kosher.

Drake - Reusse spoke at a seminar I was at a few weeks ago. The guy calls himself a "curmudgeon" but he was a riot. Very funny and a good guy. Uncle Sid on the other hand...

PR - I tried calling the two logical people (dating a player, living with 3 players) who would know but neither went and they both came up empty. I'll let you know when I find out, if it's before it hits the web. I don't think it will be, though.

Hey all--

Yeah yeah yeah i still follow hoops.  Must say with last years graduating class i don't feel as close to the program as before but trying to get back into it as football slowly comes to a close.

Here's something to chew on.  Conboy leads the league in scoring.  Also, MAC will struggle until Liddell and Johnson return to the lineup from injury.

Well well well, look who decided to poke his head in :)

GAC update: Gusties up 59-56 with 6 minutes to go. The GAC link wasn't working apparently, but BV has a stream going for those interested in hearing the finish. As such, no commentary to go with the score.

thanks for the update willy.  sounds like a good sharp game, at any rate.

Not a problem, PR. I'm at work, what else would I be doing? :)

Gusties win 80-75. No box score up yet and I doubt we will get many details about the game, unless an IIACer comes over here and tells us some details.

I'm glad it was close, even if BV is supposed to be down this year. Gives the Gusties a chance to find a go-to player in some pressure situations without Espo there to carry the load. How's that for a positive spin on the closer-than-hoped-for victory? :)

Andrew Olson goes for 25, including 4-5 from 3. TeBrake had 15, though he only took 8 shots. I guess with Olson taking 12, he must have deferred some. Wittwer had a solid game, going for 12 on a perfect 4-4 along with 6 boards.

Well, I just returned from a weak attempt at staving off the potential holiday lbs at the gym, & tried to catch the live video stream from the Hambone - Martin Luther game.  Summary: in another couple of years that technology might be where it ought to be.  Right now I think we're still in the frontier days.

I lost the feed when the Pipers were up 54-53 with about 10 minutes or so to go in the 2nd half.  I came back to audio only on the computer & found out the Pipers won going away 79-65.

Jon DeRock was once again the leading scorer for the Pipes & check out the stat line:  20 pts, 9 rebounds, 9 assists, 4 steals & 5 TOs.   Foster & Chris Babcock were next in scoring with 18 & 12 points respectively.

Hard to gauge how well Hamline played since I only saw/heard the equivalent of 2-3 minutes from the game & it was against Martin Luther.  I think I might have to amble over to Hutton fieldhouse later on this week when they play Northwestern & see what they've  got for myself.   Interesting developments.

DeRock may be the "real deal" but I've gotta see for myself.  One of my reservations stems from the fact the Chris Babcock is scoring as much as he has in the Pipers' 1st two games.  In high school he was never known as a big scoring threat.  Course,  he could have really developed his offensive skills since I last saw him play a couple of years ago.  Guess I'll find out.

Sounds like someone has been taking their cue from UST's splendid spin on their opening loss of the season to UW-Stout.   ;)
