columbo - They are busy watching girls basketball, right CC? :)

Loco - I'm not testy at all. I just think it's curious that you take the time to contact a coaching friend, research box scores and write a lengthy post but clearly didn't take the time to read anything on the board prior to posting.

How quickly things have turned on Hamline on this board after a loss to a perennial conference contender. I think I'll throw on a few of my own logs to this fire. DeRock isn't quite ready for prime time yet (2-12), though he still managed double figures by getting to the line. You've gotta love Wohler sticking with his thug Foster and recruiting another one off the football team in Seliga! They could be the Mighty Pipers Bash Brothers!
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

To answer your question OAS:
Out of the 17 kids that played last night, six of those kids haven't seen more than 5 minutes all year. But like I said before, it takes Hamline so long to find a rotation that works that they'll lose many games because of it.

They have talent, but they have 10-12 guys with the exact amount of talent. No go-to-guy.

31 fouls in ridiculous. Stop hacking.
1-12 from 3 pt land. Yissh!

Doesn't get any easier for the Mighty Piper Bash Brothers as they go to Carleton on Saturday.

Local--

I can understand an opposing player who doesn't enjoy playing in the Cage but how can a fan say they hate watching games in there?  Would you rather be in the predominantly empty barns that are STO, AUG and CON?  It is loud, intense and fun in the MAC gym.

I wish they would build the new athletic facilities around the old gym but that won't likely happen.  It'll be a sad day when that place is demolished.  However, Adam Denny Hall will be a nice place to play!!  He's donated a large sum to have his name on the building.

Most players have a love/hate relationship with the The Cage. They love the atmosphere and having the fans so close, but the actual playing surface/setting is terrible. I wonder what gacball would say about the fans, eh OAS? :)

ExMacQB is donating money for a new gym? Can we get his mother involved in this naming somehow? I hear she was die-hard.

It will be known as the Denny Adam Wendy Gymnasium...you can call it DAWG for short.

As in, "We about to get our butts kicked in the DAWG tonight."  It will roll off the tongue for the Auggie players.

Gacball didn't even know the fans were there he was so caught up with his manhood.

That place was horrible to play!  The end where the entrance is, is so dark you can't even see the hoop.  I say tear it down now.

LP-
The place has new lighting...the kind of lights on those fancy Lexus vehicles.  The floor is great and the rims are soft...I can't figure out everyone's gripe!

Willy,   you beat me to the punch.  I too was going to ask if Mrs. Denny was donating some cash!!!!   My biggest question about the new MAC athletic facilities...will the Scot dog stay $1?????

onearmedscot

Need money to build new facilities which means a new 3 dollar tax is added to all Scot Dogs...

Interesting find...the following is the bio on Kyle Foster off the Hamline website:

QuoteKyle Foster is a veteran that coaches are looking for big things from. He is a great rebounder and quick defender.

I think they meant average rebounder and lazy defender...

Nice win for the Tommies over Carleton. Ike appears to have stepped up (24 and 12) and it looks like Keating found a rhythm with 21. I like that four guys scored in double figures, makes for a more balanced attack as opposed to when Ike when nuts in Wooster and the Tommies lost. Looked at the St. Olaf box score- nice win for the Oles, but it looks like the free throw shooting was god awful (STO 8-20, Aug 3-10), ish. Hopefully I can get out somewhere and take in a game Saturday, where it be Carleton or UST. Stupid winter high school sports preview that I have due Monday!

BETHEL34

About the BU/Mac game.  It was very very ugly!  Both sides i might add.  But, like i had said a week back, if Bethel could go into Mac and get a win, it would be a great one at that.  OAS, lets be honest, SOFT RIMS???  Those are the worst rims in the miac!!  It is either swish or it is coming out.  Bethel has never shot well in the cage!  Second half, mac went into their 3-2 match up zone, and Bethel just went cold.  Cory Lougen and Tim Madson gave us a little spark in the second half by nocking down some shots and getting to the line.  Then with 7-8 mins left in the game we were down I believe two, and they get taken out and then mac goes on like a 9-2 run and we could never catch up again.  You can not look at one game, especially the first game of the season, in the worst gym in the miac, and say that Bethel is goign to be a bottom 1/3 team.  Not true...to good of shooters to be bottom 1/3.  That will be the worst performance, shooting wise, of the season for Bethel all year.  They won't shoot that poor ever again this season, mark my words.

With out having a 4 or 5 man that can catch the ball at the high post and make a move to the bucket or draw attention for an open kick out for three.  You will never beat a zone unless you knock threes down contested.  Bethel never could do that all night.   The wing defenders never had to help down because we never got the ball inside down on the block.  the lowest it ever got was the high post, where no one did a thing at.   Bethel just kept it around the top until there was a slight opening to launch up a three.  There was just no penitration or posting up against the zone the whole night.  i guess some of that credit has to go to conboy and 40 for their post defense.  But, when you are shooting poorly from the arc, you got to go in side, or get to the line by penitrating, but Bethel never did that.  They just kept launching up threes.

About Conboy...  Trav i think you got to give him a little more credit.  Yes, one of the ugliest shots in the miac, but he nocks them down.  If he is open, he will hit.  And being that he plays the five position a lot, he will have a lot of 5 men on him all season.  Like last night with Cook and Hinrichs gaurding him.  He has good post moves for inside, and he has a quicker step on offense then 95% of the leagues 5 man have on defense.  How many times would hinrichs and Cook have to rush out on him last night because you have to respect his shot, then he would drive right by them and have the ability to finish.  I think the kid has some talent, especially as a sophmore, he just has an ugly release so when it goes in, it hurts that much more.  I could see him ave around 20 maybe more.  You got to look at it this way.  He might not ave that against the defense of Gac and ST Thomas(with rosefelt), even Carlton.  But, he will put up a few 30 point games this year against those lower half miac teams, and that will bring his ave up over 20.

Overall, Conboy, really the only bright spot from the game last night, but that is not the BU team you are going to see on a game to game basis.  I still predict a 5-6 spot in the playoffs this year.

Holy Smokes....do we have to have an "epistle" every time BU plays a sporting event?!!  ???

My B... Just was addressing some Q's that have been put out there for response.  You don't have to read it if you don't want.  Would you rather have me spread them out over 2 or 3 pages next time??

I say negative 2 Karma for FB!!
