That is exactly the non-factor I am talking about! Except he won't start.  My play wasn't crucial to the team, so GAC is in big trouble if his play is crucial to their success.

From looking at the BU/AUG boxscore, as well as the other boxscores from the season, it seems BU's most productive player has been Frederickson off the bench.  Last night, for instance, he had 18 in 17 minutes.  While Bjorklund and Perry are very important for the team, it seems that Frederickson needs more minutes.  He is leading the team in scoring with Bjorklund, but playing close to eight minutes a game less.  Further, from listening to the game last night he did not seem to get that many minutes in the second half (seven or so) while playing about 11 in the first half, and not that he was the only reason for the tale of two halves, but BU did get blown out in the second half.  For those that were at the game, was Frederickson taken out of the game in the second half by AUG or was it the less playing time?  And for BU fans that have been around, is my assessment generally correct, or are there other reasons why Freddy might not be playing as many minutes as Perry and Bjorklund?

p.s. Be wary Gus Young crowd, applying a 'nerd' chant to a guy with a shaved head (who looks like someone straight out of American History X) could be a perilous venture.

As a side note to the Gustie fans that are waiting to pounce on Sweeney regarding his shaved head.....hopefully they'll show some love as he has shaved his head in respect to his father who is battling cancer and undergoing some tough chemo treatments right now.

Should be a great game, but in reality, it's only one game and it's early in the season. (now does that take the fun out of it or what??!!)

SUMMIT!!!!!

what Gustie fans (and others) don't realize is that Sweeney thrives on the crowds....what else explains the tee shirts and the new 'do? He KNOWS its gonna draw the attention of the crowd, get him "nerded" (or worse) and then he feeds off that energy like he did last night....HU fans were chanting "egg head" and after enough of it, he sizzled 13 pts in 8 mins and had a hanful of amazing feeds to Ike

if you want to shut Sweeney down, the best thing the crowds could do is ignore him completely

maniac - I seem to remember a UST home game a few years back where the crowd got on him good and he took the shirt off at halftime because he was playing awful. After his benching in the second half, he sat with a towel over his head in dejection.

Moral of the story: It's worked at least once :)

Wippler posted a 10 board game last year in very limited minutes and put up 20+ points on a decent team a few years back. He's capable when called upon, even if his methods are unorthodox.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

now this would be hilarious...everytime Sweeney touches the ball, the entire GAC student section becomes dead silent and faces away from the court, when he passes they turn around and chant D or whatever...to funny and completely ignored.

I remember that second half Wonka.  Wierdest thing was a sheep was part of the harrassing crowd.

Sweeney dominates the flow of the game, and gets plenty of support from Rosefelt and Schnettler tonight. UST wins by 6, Sweeney scores 18 with 6 assists. If GAC decides to switch the high pick and roll, as they did at Schnoecker last year, Ike will have a shot at 30. I think Shimek will take Sowden out of the game, but if Ike is on him, I think Sowden pushes for 20. UST wont have as much of a size advantage this game, as my guess would be that TeBrake and Wittwer will be guarding Keating-so isolation to him, as they have run at numerous times for easy buckets, is most likely out the window. Like Mig said, Olson seems to like playing the Tommies, so expecting at least a few bombs from deep. And I really like the Wittwer, hes a tough matchup with his quickness and athleticism-he could be a lot of trouble for a worn down Tommie front line in the latter stages of the second half.

Wonka-
I was up at 7am to have my car fixed so I could make the trip.

They're dropping like flies for tonight. OAS didn't sound promising. Westie is out. I Know MIAC Maniac will make the trip. You haven't bought me one in a while.  :)

Patrick's tonight before the game 6-6:30ish.

WW- yeah it worked once, sorta. GAC was on a roll (as you well know) starting that night and lasting a few weeks...and to be honest, Sweeney was playing on a crippled team that time. (Personally, I think he was more distracted & confused by the sheep in the stands than the noise of the fans). Plus he was a dumb frosh back then....now he is kojak's son!

OAS-- you were one baaaaaaaaad sheep that night. Are you making tonight's battle or will you be the wolf in sheep's clothing for GAC @ UST in Jan?

I'll answer that one for you OAS -

If they get healthy soon, yes.

If Johnson and Liddell can't get back on the court by early January, then probably not
