i think the johnnies are good and will make the playoffs...i think the reason people are giving CAR the edge right now is because they have rattled off 7 in a row and in their first 3 losses they hadnt figured out their rotation quite yet and had 4 freshman fighting for time...after their first win vs AUG they cut their rotation down giving melson more clock and schmitz PT has been cut down to 5-8 min a game while kuhl doesnt see the floor anymore they also just got arguably their best defensive player back in kootsikas who has now healed from his broken hand that he suffered the game before the MIAC season kicked off...and they did all of this up to their last game with tommy "the golden boy" drake not doing much for them when he was expected to do big things this year...hopefully wed nights game was his break out game and he will continue to play at a high level now

Local-
Thrasher is a near lock. I was throwing out Foster's name over DeRock. I only say that because DeRock has been inconsistent some games and it's hard to imagine that two freshman from the same team make all-conference.

There's no way Concordia slips into the sixth spot with three starters lost for season or much of season. Maybe the eighth or ninth.

Anybody have thughts on creating an official Most Improved Player award to be given out annually.

For example, Brendan Bosman or possibly Foster would be up for it?

FYI:  Schnettler averages 2.9 rebounds per game.  Neal Anderson only averaged 1.5.

1.5 to 2.9? It sounds like the Tommies upgraded from an all-conference boxer-outer to an all-american boxer-outer. He isn't a bad shooter either, but he's clearly in there to wipe the glass.

Define this Most Improved Player award a little bit for us, OAS. Are we thinking something that the league would create to be included in the coach's votes? Or are you thinking a d3hoops.com sponsored award with a few notorious posters as the voters? Or maybe you'd just pick up the bar tab for your choice after the season? :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

OAS - Don't lump me in with the likes of Drake. He's my arch-nemisis >:(

For those of you keeping score at home, Olson pulled an Anderson last game.

local & OAS,

Hypothetically if MAC ended up dead last in the conference with both Conboy and Bosman kept their stats do you think they can still make All-conferences???

Assuming UST finishes #1, it would be ironic to see  if UST and MAC gets 4 and 2 all-conference players, respectively.  That mean there are only 9 spots left for 9 teams; 1 per team is not bad??.

One more question, will any of the Cobbers who got injured be considered for the All-conference selection?

I don't think UST will get 4 players on the list. I think Ike, Schnettler, and Keating will make it Sweeney will be Honorable mention. MAC will get 1 and that is Conboy.

Watchmen--

I don't believe the question was addressed to you! :)  Just kidding.  I agree with you...sort of.

Keating over Bosman?  Not sure  I agree with that but Ike and Schnettler obviously and Conboy--although I wish he'd play like an all-leaguer instead of just score like one.

Bosman is 14.5 and 7.7.  Keating isn't in the top 30 in scoring or top 20 in rebounds.  Take keating off UST and they are essentially the same team.  Take Bosman off MAC and I'd a sent you the t-shirt a month ago. :)

Going for the Wonka record of smiley faces.

OK i'll give you that one. Keating is pretty useless to UST. Bosman wasn't really a huge factor vs. SJU so i had no clue who he is.

i have to laugh at you watchmen.  Something about your posts make me think you dont know anything about hoops but hey thats just my opinion.  Anywhoo..  i hate to say it but... i dont see how anyone in their right mind could pick keating over sweeney.  I personally dont like him but..... i think UST has at least 3 or more losses if they dont have him at PG and i think he does make all conference and keating is honorable mention!

Also watchmen... SJU lacks consistency?? they were on a 3 game winning streak and played real well verse the gusties and just struggled the last 5 mins of game.  They had one downfall but it seems as if its over and done with now and i dont see them going worse then 8-2 the rest of the way!

sju4life, Don't want to get in the middle of a pissing contest between you and MW but.....MW contends the Johnnies live or die by the three. If you take a look at their last 7 games they are 3-4. In those games their shooting % beyond the arc has been: .259,.250,.222,.450,.550,.500,.235! You tell me which 3 games they won.

I'm not sure which downfall you think they are over but, if it's their inconsistent shooting I beg to differ.

Yeah I don't really know a whole lot about basketball. You've got me there. I'm actually a college Hockey player from the University of Hawaii. I saw you guys play down here and thought you sucked. I figured i could slip in a few comments about the team and nobody would notice. Sorry SJU4life.

The Johnnies are one of the streakiest teams in the MIAC.  Take Matt Ohme for an example. He had 24 pts in 29 at GAC the five games before that he had 4 pts in 14 min vs AUG, 3pts in 14 min @ HAM, 8 pts in 29 vs MAC, 9 pts in 26 min @ SMU, and 7 pts in 17 min @ UST. The kid shoots enough to score 30 a game and he has scored over 10 in just one of his last 6!!  Also as a team shooting free throws in the last 6 games they are .666 vs GAC, .727 vs AUG, .850 vs HAM, .454 vs MAC, .608 vs SMU and .375 vs UST. As a team for the whole season they are shooting 67% which puts them at 9th in the MIAC with UST, CAR, and GAC all in the top 5 in the conference. For a team that lives by the three i don't think 35% is a very good mark as a team for the season.  The only people that have put up nearly consistent number as Henrichs and Schafer. The two posts are carrying your team most nights. If you didn't have those two inside you would be closer to 4-6 rather than 6-4.
