We will have to see about that one PI !! I don't think either place will be very easy to play in. J's may bring out the students in full force like they did vs. UST.   Then it wouldn't be very fun for the Pipes.!!

Another ballot in...

Updated postseason awards results...

Ballots must be complete or at least 3/4 complete (if you don't know enough freshmen to name five that's fine).  Partial ballots listing solely UST players for certain spots will not be counted.  Ballots referencing Tony Danza will also not be counted.

First of all, MM is a fool if he thinks the Gusties will finish 8th next year. It just simply ain't gonna happen. You may want to familiarize yourself with Andrew Doble and a few of the guys who stepped in for AO before you call the cupboard bare.

Johnnie posters - The Js dominated the boards in the last meeting and Ohme lit up Hollerich. I don't expect either of those things to happen again on Saturday, though I think Lieser and Westman will play better. They can't really play any worse, right (1-12, including the missed game-winner from Westman)?

Anyway, with Olson out of the starting lineup, the Gusties have been dominating on the boards themselves. They were getting outboarded by 3 or 4 with AO in there, but Wittwer's insertion has added a new dynamic to the Gustie attack. Check out the rebound totals the last six games.

vs. Carlies -1
vs. Marys +19
vs. BU +14
vs. Olaf +4
vs. Auggie +14
vs. Mac +14

Anyway, it should be a great game. I'm hoping to have calls streaming in to keep me up to date as I watch the girls game...anyone want to volunteer? :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Willy, Was my Conboy item the second suprise in the box score or was it Olson returning?

I fly any cargo that you can pay to run
The bush league pilots, they just can't get the job done
You've got to fly down the canyon, don't never see the sun

Willy-
I've corrected MM and told him the Guppies will finish 9th next year.
Hollerich will be whimpering like a beat pup by 5 pm CST on Saturday.
Frank might volunteer to call you if you promise to pick up our pre-game tab at the La We're only meeting at 1 and the game's at 3 so it should only be in the low 3 figures (like the SJU point total)

Hey there's an idea. Who's in on the over/under action on the bar tab to point total?

Ike dethroned as unanimous MVP with Forkrud claiming a 15 on the latest ballot.

Only one interesting matchup this weekend. However, with a bye Saturday, the Tommies will have 8 days between games. That could make for an interesting game in the semis for an already inconsistent team.

DP,

No I haven't turn in my UST degree for a Carleton diploma. I'm sure you're aware by now that I work in the journalism field much like WW and MM, and part of my job is covering a team that's know won 15 straight and played some of the best team basketball I've ever seen for Northfield's newspaper. I would love to see UST and Carleton play for the title, and although I want UST to win that game being a Tommie alum, if Carleton won, that would mean I would get to keep covering them for my newspaper.

Flip,

That was the first time I've seen Terrence Smith play this year, and he was bad. If he had a good game against Ike, so be it. I've seen him a couple times in the past few years, and he's been mediocre at best every time, so that's where I base my opinion. If you've seen more than what I've seen, then so be it. I've been known to be wrong on here a few times before (ie TeBrake, and even in some instances, yes Denny)

OAS...

I'm honored to find myself on your photos page, and yeah I'm pretty sure he missed the shot as well.  It was a new defensive stance I was trying, where I box out before the guys shoots it.  I just knew he would miss, so why contest it?  Just box-out in advance.  Good lord, was I that bad?

TommieHoops4Life

OAS,

Looks like none of us can get away from being a part of your new website. I'm honored that under Nightly Neal, you've linked to my article on him in the glory days at UST. I got some crap for the because the Star Trib had something on him that same week, and they thought I took stuff from it. Little did they know my story was already finished by the time that ran.

Willy Wonka

Was that before or after the Pioneer Press ran its obligatory D3 piece on Anderson? With Ubbes stealing the thunder this year, it's a wonder any school besides UST gets any ink in the big dailies...

Oh, was your article before or after the Beyond the Glory piece OAS uncovered on the web? :)

WW,

I believe John Millea did a story on Neal, and it was in the Star Trib on a Wednesday. My story ran in UST's paper, which comes out every Friday on campus, but the actual articles were due on the Sunday before, so mine was done well before the Strib's.

Look forward to seeing you at state swimming since Northfield can't seem to find a way to beat Red Wing. and PI, I feel your pain. I'll be at Xcel Saturday watching the Northfield Hiliners in the Class AA dance meet. I'll be investing in some red bull to keep me awake for that one.

On a d-3 note,

Maybe I saw SMU on an off night, but how that team was ever expected to contend for a playoff spot is beyond me. They're still a few years away, at best. Sweeney's bro looks nothing like him, but their games are similar, only Sean's shot actually goes in a lot.
