Drake Palmer

Mose & Greg, the previous posts have been a great history lesson.  You too, Flip.

Mose, is there a similar type of connection, Xian Bros, with Loras College in Dubuque?  As Greg pointed out, they've done very well recruiting the Chicago metro area.

By the way, Greg, I know you're a stickler for accuracy, but I think most MIAC posters are referring to the "greater Chicago metro area" when they/we refer to getting a kid out of "Chicago."   As far as most of us are concerned, Barrington, Joliet, Evanston, McHenry etc. are neighborhoods in Chicago proper.  ;)

"If anything here offends, I beg your pardon. I come in peace, I depart in gratitude." ;)

Flip the Red Bird

So your saying the players from SMU are there because of some Christian brothers connecton, come on.  Todd Yankowski was from Pat's, one of the Christian brothers you mention.  I know Todd and he didn't come to SMU because of that, he came cause Biebel recruited him.

The only two players I know of that have come to SMU because of the Christian brothers connection are David Shaw and El McClatchy: both from De LA Salle.

So using your guys logic, if Trewick never sets foot in Chicago, SMU will get good basketball players our of the area.  That is the most rediculous logic.  They will get some JV players though, and you know how important it is to have a top JV team ;)

What I am saying is that you can get better players out of there, because of the connections, but you better get your ass out there and recruit them if you want to get the ones that fit your program and the ones that can play D.  If your going to rely on Chicago kids to win a MIAC title you better have connections yourself to get the right players and not the David Shaw's and El McClatchy of Chicago.

SJU 72  GAC 68 final

SJU vs HAM; GAC vs BET on Tuesday

Is there no sound with the Concordia webcast? Cause, it's hard to know the score.

J's hold on down the stretch to beat GAC. Rough and tough game overall. Very physical which as i understand is typical of GAC basketball. I have yet to see the Johnnies play that physical all year.

With approx. 4 minutes left:  HAM 62  Cobbers 58

Well, Augsburg players must read the board because they used the old outscore the opponent to win trick today.  they nipped MAC 59-58 on the Scots home floor.  Ugly basketball.  If Kozlowski is 5'6 as the program says, I have some swamp land in Florida I'll sell you.  That kid isn't a millimeter over 5'3.  Fun to watch though.

Touchdown Tommy

Let me get this straight.  Auggie Tech beat Mac and UST this season on their home floors.  Hmmm...Coincidence for TDT? I think not.

Conclusion: MIAC title game will be SJU @ UST and the Johnnies will win.  You heard it here first.

FYI: Mac is just terrible.  No excuse, they will be horrible for years to come unless somehow someway they get a superstar ala BVT every 4 yrs.  TDT's odds on that: slim to none.

Bold TDT very bold. i agree that it will be UST and SJU but we will have to see what happens in the end.

As far as I'm concerned there are only two truths in life...

QuoteThat is because Chicago kids never play defense!!

And...

I think it's been proven that some quotes are just laughable.

Congrats Drake Palmer on being bumped by Gregory Sager for longest post.

Some thought about the J's v. Gusties today. Nice win for the Johnnies. Inspite of some trouble with ball handling down the stretch the J's were able to win. Officiating left something to be desired. Just looking for some consistency in that area.

TeBrake is good. First opportunity I have had to see him play. He is smooth. Where did Doble come from? 23 pts in 28 min. quite and unassuming. Wittwer is the kind of player you hate when he is playing against you, but you love to have on your team.

oAs,
Is this the line of the night?

MM, Nice to hook up with you. Mrs. Sum is also a St. T's grad.

Have fun this week everyone. Unfortunately, I am gone all week on business. I will have to miss the J's stomping the Pipes and the Knight's.

Watchmen--
How do you go from All First Year to done?  Did he go the academic route?

Wow.  I missed that Hollerich line.  However, Sowden is a proven go to guy.  To foul out in 17 mins is ridiculous.

Lastly, a treat for all you guys.
