MM - Bert will always be with the A's, but not in Oakland - especially when the record wasn't set while the team was there.

That's like saying Duke Snyder played for Los Angeles - he did but you'll get in an argument with the old timers about it. Don't mess with memories :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Drake Palmer

Touch em all Kirby Puckett...

And he did!  Whether we were casual fans, or die hard season ticket holders, he touched us all with his hustle, talent, spirit & enthusiasm.

Thanks for the memories.  RIP

WW-- I stand corrected....Campy played all nine innings in a game in 1965 and the As moved to the Bay Area for the 1968 season. (He played ten seasons in OAK and only 3 in KC :) ). It was one of the typical Charlie O Finley promotional gimmicks....one that ol' Calvin was quick to imitate. To my knowledge, Campy & Tovar are the only 2 to play all nine positions in a MLB game.
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

miacsuperfan,

bottles were plastic and no big deal.  I thought tommie fans were great.  They were loud for their numbers and good guests.    That is a long trip for one game.

Tommies were clearly a step up from the Gustavas team LU played last year in the tourney.  good luck next year.

Lu Nut

Coach Hanson might "cry a river" when he reads your comments....Clearly, save for Espo, LU physically HANDLED the Gusties last year.

Sorry WW, but that's the way most of us coaches saw it!   ;)

fballer,
and wouldn't it be hysterical if we found out that hanson, fritz, and kalland actually read this stuff!    ;)

Posted this link over on the FB board. For those of you interested, nice column from Scott Miller former PP beat writer for the Twins on Kirby.

Pat--- you might want to get your Sweeneys right on the front page....Mikey's season ended with the last SMU regular season game....I think it was Sean with the stellar performance vs Larry U  :)

Miacmaniac--- you might want to e-mail me if you have anything important to say. I don't read every board every day.

This board is kinda boring when nobody is playing.  :)

I got a question. Who is the Preseason All-MIAC starting 5 for next year??

"By mind the world is led, by mind the world is drawn. And all men own the sovereignty of mind."

I got :

Schnettler
Westman    ( Gotta have an SJU boy up there  :) )
Z. Johnson
Luke Linz   :)  ( he will be tough next year )
Ike   <--------MVP again

IKE
Bryan Schnettler
Zach Johnson
Tom Conboy
Either Westman or Schaefer

My votes would be for:

Isaac Rosefelt
Bryan Schnettler
Jake Phillips
Jon DeRock
Tom Conboy

Loco's gonna leave off a freshman who finished third in scoring, 13th in rebounding, 10th in assists, seventh in shooting percentage (4th in 3-point %), 12th in steals, third in minutes played and has a great nickname to boot.

Makes perfect sense to me  ::)

How about:

Schnettler

I agree. Its kinda hard to put DeRock in the top five when Zach was better than him in alot of places.
