loco-what is the relationship (if any) between the Gonsior you mention and the one who played or plays at Olaf (Ted, I think)?

They are brothers; the older one that played at STO quit his senior year because of Coach Koz. What a surprise!!!!!!

sound like CAR has a good shot at getting a 6'3" wing out of seattle, WA who made a visit to the college this weekend...he was a high school teammate of Martell Webster who was the 6th overall draft pick in last years nba draft by the portland jailblazers

How does that happen? A kid from Seattle ends up in Minnesota. There must be a connection we don't know about.

CAR gets a lot of students from the Seattle area....Cord had a pipeline to the area at one time for hoops, so anything's possible, I guess
After the game, the king and pawn go into the same box.

MM is correct there are many students at CAR that hail from seattle

MM- Not suprising about Cord they don't recruit any players from the area. Syverson seems to think that Minnesota players and North Dakota players aren't good enough. Eckoff wasn't even recruited to play there and he tried out for the team and the rest is history.

Actually Keith was recruited CC for basketball, football and baseball and his final two choices for schools were CC and Bethel. I remember coach Siverson talking about Eckoff long before he showed up on campus.

Drake,

Based on what I saw in the state tournament, Erik Gusaas has the chance to be a very good player in the MIAC, probably by his sophomore or junior year.  He's a legitimate 6-11 and weighs about 230 pounds.  And as you stated, he is quite enthusiastic.  I've heard that Hamline is a probable destination, with Macalester, Concordia, and St. John's also still recruiting him heavily.

As for Steve Duncan, I can tell you that a number of Division II schools are recruiting him, including UM-Duluth.

I also heard this weekend that the 6-10 young man from Waseca who was in that Coaches All-Star game...his name mistakes me at this point...is going to Gustavus.

NDSU, among many, are now in the picture. After the All-Star games this past weekend, his phone has been quite active.

His GPA is like 3.9 and his SAT's are 30+.  (ya know, in that same category as our boy Wonka!!)

By the way, anyone else see the Rosen Show last night? U-M AD Maturi was present.....this guy is a complete moron and is in WAY over his head. (I know, I've said this before, but......holy schnikees!!!)

;)

Drake Palmer

I just checked the coaches website &  apparently the name of the Waseca Blue Jay in question is Sam Paulson.  Ain't hip - never heard of him.

Funballer -did you get over to any of the All Star games? You must of, if you've got those kind of specs on the kid.   How did the Paulson kid or any of the other players look?

Also, if you watched Rosen's show you were up real late for a work night.  Trib columnist Jim Souhan was cutting Maturi no kind of slack in his column over the weekend.  Now why did the U get rid of Mark Dienhart??

I got hooked into watching that Robert Ludlum movie with Mira Sorvino which didn't end until 10:45 pm or so because of the Masters.  Then to find out it's a 2-part movie which will conclude next Sunday. Grrh.   By the time the news ended it was too late for me to stay up considering it was the beginning of the week.

Local - you very well may be right about Gusaas, but I still think he's got a ways to go in terms of development.
"If anything here offends, I beg your pardon. I come in peace, I depart in gratitude." ;)

Nope, didn't make the games, but talked with a few people that did and have a friend who knows the Waseca coach. Heard the games were basically playground garbage....typical all-star type of stuff. In reality, it's "not all-star caliber"......4 teams of 10? 40 all stars in Minnesota? I don't think so......

And yeah, I stayed up late...watched the movie on '4', the news, then the Rosen show. Way too late, I know, but when you're wide awake, whattaya do???!!!

;)

Willy Wonka

funbb - 30 SAT? Cmon now. I got accepted into Carleton and was smart enough not to go there. That's got to count for something, right? :)

Sounds like GAC has been recruiting big guys very hard. I know of another 6-6 post who's headed to the hill...he's a project that may or may not pan out from what I've heard.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Willie....I give you 6-8 extra points, which puts you at the very top of the class. Well done!

Although....it seems these days CAR is playing better ball than Marky's GAC squads and the Knights will be awfully tough again next year. You confident your Gusties can make a run for the title next year? I know you'll always be inclined to say yes, but I think GAC will be sitting somewhere in the 3rd-4th place slot.

Naw, I'm not getting into any early hoops predictions.....just thinking about how a number of teams will be much improved next year.

Twins Opener tomorrow.....let's enjoy some baseball......but we still like to throw a little "ball" out there,  don't we??!!!

;)

This may be retarded, but can somebody explain to me the use of the karma points? How do I get them and lose them. Also, how do I take them away and give them? What do I say to earn them and is there an incentive to earn them?
