News from the Johnnies camp:

Aaron Traut a 6'6'' post player from Rocori High School will attend SJU next fall. He averaged 9.3 ppg and 5.7 rpg while leading Rocori to back to back state tourney's. I have seen Traut play and he is a decent player. I think he will fit in best at a 3 or a 4 spot for the Johnnies. He will definetly need to get stronger to play in the MIAC.

Also, Mike Stiller a 6'8'' center from Albany will attend SJU next fall. Stiller is a two year starter for the Huskies. No stats on this kid but I remember seeing him in the gym this past winter working with a Johnnie Alum and this kid must get stronger if he wants to play. He looked like a bean pole when I saw him.

I think it will be tough for either of these guys to see time on any where except the JV floor next year given the returning players the J's have.

If this board gets any quieter, pretty soon we'll have Loco trying to convince us this leprechaun is Hamline's answer down on the blocks (It takes awhile to load, but it's well worth the wait).

On a brighter note, this Tom Petty playoff stuff is great. Drake, I know you feel me.

Wow that was pretty funny.....I really laughed for about 5 minutes after viewing that.

Believe you me, Willy knows Mr. Beckmann. He's both a gentleman and a scholar.

Interestingly enough, Doug Beal is not an unfamiliar character to me. Nor is his brother Matt. Play with 'em at the gym sometimes. Good shooters, good athletes, great leapers.

That's all for me. Let's continue to keep this board hate-speech-free.

Willy, I think your fear may soon be realized. If the board is this slow now posting must be about non exisistent in the heat of the summer!

Some of us will be busy on the tops of roofs this summer not sitting in our comfortable air condition offices Sumander!! I know I won't be finding the time to post until next fall. Plus oAs has not been seen in several months. I think he is hiding all of MAC's secret recruiting info back from us. That info could be about three or four pages of talk.  :D

George Karl on Kenyon Martin --

"Well, it is hard for me to visualize him actually playing 20 minutes of basketball again because he doesn't participate in practice very often. He just wants to play in the games," Karl said. "That philosophically doesn't make any sense to me."

Man, I'm glad I got to slide by for two years with Hanson instead of trying to deal with Karl...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Wonka:  how's the recruiting scene going for GAC? Heard they may get or perhaps have already gotten a commitment from a guard in southern MN; just what they need isn't it, another short little guard! What's that say for the Kaus kid? Is he done? Will he get cut? Is he staying at GAC?

Heard:
........the Pipers are close to landing a 6-9 kid....they may get that commitment this weekend.
........the Tommies are recruiting a shooting phenom from southern Wiscy; supposedly one of the best shooting guards in the 5 state area

Just trying to keep the hoops discussions alive, boys......!

I think the life of this board will be all but over for now at least until the beginning of next season. Nobody seems to be giving up their recruiting tid bits so we are forced to listen to the crickets.

I spoke with OneArmed and yes, he is still alive. Watchmen, I called him on the t-shirt and he said whoops.  He is a man of his word, maybe the MAC store was sold out.

Starting at center for your Hamline Pipers, 6'9 center, Paul Muenchow Jr. I question why a guy with that size and has any talent would want to play in the MIAC, let alone Hamline. He a big Dodgers fan? Although I am very impressed with the coaching staff at Hamline's recruiting. They are out there nearly every night of the week during the seaon and I'm sure Barry, Perrel and Tiers are on the phone alot during the offseason.

Hopefully this 6'9 recruit pans out. I think the Pipers are a big man and a few less turnovers away from winning the title this year.

PI, I raised the same question about the 6'8" kid going to SJU. Key phrase being "has any talent"! ;)

The t-shirt isn't a big deal PI but thanks for checking on oAs, its good to hear he is ok.

Very bold statement PI, I hope that the pipers are in the running this next year and the J's as well. I think there are a couple of teams this year that will be looking to dethrone the nasty Tommies. Hopefully one of us can do it so we don't have to listen to Miacmaniac in the off season again  :D

Funbb- Seems you like trying to stir something up with Willy over Tyler Kaus.  I think you'll find Willy gets a little closed mouth when it comes time to dishing anything that might be perceived as dirt on the Gustie program.  Willy was real quiet on the Jered Hokenson & Derek Dreifke transfer when I asked him about it a year ago, as he's been on Tyler Kaus whenever you've brought his name up.  IMO, I've always thought Kaus at 5-6 or 5-7 was a bit on the small side even for D3.

However, it appears Kaus is doing well in baseball this spring as he's currently batting .315 & is one of several category leaders for the Gusties.  As is another hooper turned to the baseball diamond – FY Mike Deslauriers.  Coming out of Benilde HS, Deslauriers was noted ever bit as much for his baseball abilities as for basketball.  The slick fielding infielder is leading many of the stats categories for GAC.

Little known fact – Sharp shooting Bryan Schnettler of UST has a younger brother Chad, who is a sophomore pitcher for the Gusties.  From skimming the stats it appears he's the one of the Gusties' top relief pitchers.

I believe the big guy the Pipes are pursuing is 6-8 Eric Gusaas from Richfield that Local & I discussed a couple of week's ago.  I've only seen him play once, but let's just say he shows remarkable enthusiasm & exuberance for the game.  If he does attend Hamline, I think Kyle Foster of all people, will be forced to take him under his wing & help rein the youngster in.  ;)

Gusaas could definitely develop into a solid D3 post player, but the most polished post HS player I've heard to possibly go MIAC is this Nate Robertson kid from Forest Lake.  According to Cmob, Guy Kalland from Carleton was hot on this kid's trail.  If the Knights do land him, Carleton could quite possibly extend their consecutive streak of getting a FY named to the All FY MIAC team.  Robertson is a big 6-5 or 6-6, strong, athletic post player with a nice, little mean streak.

Thanks to everyone for their tidbits of information.  I have one to offer myself after reading Drake's most recent post.

A little birdie told me not be surprised if Hamline is where Nate Robertson from Forest Lake ends up.  Apparently he really enjoyed his recent visit with the coaches and players.  It's all specualtion at this point, and only time will tell.

Other then that, I have nothing of validity to offer.
