What? Do extra work when I can be out golfing for free the rest of the summer at three different courses? Surely you jest :)

TH4L - Sucks about yesterday. I guess we know whose writing is more inspiring now, eh?   :P
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Ah yes, the perq's of being a famous sportswriter! I didn't think it would have to be "extra" work. I thought someone might be able to develop a story line out of it and incorporate it into their regular work load!

For those that want to know (and especially you, Willy!  ::)), Coach Wohler had another surgery recently.....had his knee scoped approx. a week ago, meaning he's had two surgeries in the last month. (I think this time table is correct.)

Perhaps no one cares, but thought I'd inject a bit of news for those of you that weren't aware of this.

...and to my fellow Americans, a Happy Memorial Day weekend to all.    ;)

localcoach

I hope that everyone enjoyed the Memorial Day weekend.  :D

By the way, I was forwarded a story from a local preps website that featured an interview with Hamline assistant coach Jeremy Tiers.  It was interesting to hear his take on playing in the MIAC, as well as the pro's and con's of AAU basketball, and many other topics.

Coach Wohler had another surgery  ???

Can you post a link? I would be interested in reading what Jeremy has to say.

PI - The link to that audio interview is as follows:

minnesotapreps.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=546890

The only issue you may have is it's subscriber content, which means you have to have an id and password.  I didn't have one, but a high school coaching friend let me "borrow" his.

Drake - Thanks for the summary list my friend.  ;D   I can add the following tidbits to your list.

1) Gustavus is also probably going to get a 6-10 post from Waseca named Sam Paulson (..and McPartland is a 6-5 post)

2) Chris Hasse is no longer going to attend Hamline per a conversation I had with a Piper assistant last week. Apparently a Division II school "swooped" him up at the last minute.  Instead it sounds like Hamline is also going to get a guard from Marshall H.S. (can't remember the name); a 6-5 freshman transfer from Gustavus named Tanner Anderson; and a 6-6 post from Centennial named Chris Gonsior.

You old Twins baseball fans help me out -- which Twins manager had a nickname of "Slick"?  Was it Billy Gardner?  I think Slick is going to become my new nickname for Local.

Dang – Local, I offer up my summary recruit list & you come up with these little recruiting gems off the top of your head?  Yet another reason for referring to you as Slick.  ;)

I'd heard Paulson of Waseca was being heavily recruited at the last minute by NDSU.  Guess he must have changed his mind.  A year or two down the road he could be a real nice pick up for the Gusties.

And from the sounds of it, Hamline decided to go out & glom on to more than their fair share of D3 type post players.  Now with Gonsior from Centennial they've got 3 incoming post players next season.  By the way, Erik Gusaas from Richfield might be taller, but right now I like Gonsior's game a lot more.  He's a more polished post player.  And another aside - how's Wohler going to get all those guys playing time?  Last year I think he had a band of 200 (18) Pipers/ players on his active roster.  I smell transfers in the air.

S/L- can you confirm or dispel the Luebeck or Kooenkaew announcements?

Drake,

Kyle Luebeck is going to Auggie Tech and St. Olaf...This should be interesting to see when they play each other

Drake - I've had those "gems" for the past week or so.  I have been offline though and this is the first time I've had a chance to post them.

The Gustavus information came from a former co-worker who lives down in St. Peter who knows Hanson and Co.

As for Hamline and the post player bonanza, I have no clue as to where the PT will come from or things of those nature. However in looking at the Piper roster, they graduated 6 players and if I do my math right it sounds like they have 5 or 6 coming in.  So yet again they will be a band of 18 or thereabouts.  Plus, from watching them last year they really had no true post other than Charley Good and he graduated.  So I guess some of these freshmen may get a shot at early PT.

TDT - d/n know you followed hoops? The last I'd heard Luebeck was undecided between the Dawgs & Oles, thus my reason for the dual "suspect" listing. Urban Lutes vs. the Yuppiefied Lutes.  Posters...you make the call.

And what is this Local, you're dogging Foster?  You're saying the Pipes didn't
have a true post player other than Goode last year?  And as much as you defended Foster throughout the season-- tsk, tsk.   ;)

"If anything here offends, I beg your pardon. I come in peace, I depart in gratitude." ;)

localcoach

Drake - Kyle Foster will always be "my guy."  However, in my book, he's what I like to call a "face-up 4-man."  If you remember him the previous year he was knocking down 14-foot jumpers and doing great things as a passer up high in the Piper motion offense.  I think that last year he had to play the "post" spot out of necessity.

Granted that's just one man's opinion, but I think if they could have a true back-to-the-basket guy inside and move him to the top of the key more he would provide that many more problems for opposing teams.  Having said all of that, Foster is a senior next year, so the Hamline coaches definitely needed to recruit some size for that dwindling front line of theirs.

Other than the couple of MIAC recruits we have listed on the blog, do you have verified sources for any of these? I'd be interested in adding them to the list if they're properly sourced.
