Doing my little part to keep the board active during the off-season...

Author writes worst book of the year

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Jim Guigli is the worst of the worst. His tortured prose is the winner of San Jose State University's annual Bulwer-Lytton Fiction Contest for bad writing.  The retired mechanical designer impressed the judges with this passage from his detective story.

"Detective Bart Lasiter was in his office studying the light from his one small window falling on his super burrito when the door swung open to reveal a woman whose body said you've had your last burrito for a while, whose face said angels did exist, and whose eyes said she could make you dig your own grave and lick the shovel clean."

The contest is named for Edward George Bulwer-Lytton, whose 1830 novel "Paul Clifford" began with the oft-mocked, "It was a dark and stormy night."

I guess the above should serve as a warning for us posters as we record our musings & ramblings on the board this year. "Guilty as charged your honor."   :o  ;D

The real thing that irritates me about the time switch is that I wanted to watch the Concordia games on the live broadcast system next year. We have practice at about 2:30pm everyday and finish at about 5pm.  That means by the time I get home all I wil be able to watch is the girls game.

I also have my young prodigy attending Concordia next year and expect him to be the best PG in the MIAC.

I tried to listen to a couple of old games I found on the internet a few monthss ago to relive my glory days but I think my roomates were a little annoyed. So...Blake Stepp and Cory Violette and eat it next year if I get a chance to watch CC online live.

Ran into Mr. McKane tonight in Roseville. Oh yeah, she was cute DP.

Don't want to say too much since I was focused more on Nathan closing down the Sox, but he said he is pretty much against the time change and is not looking forward to hearing from pretty much everyone about how horrible it will be for the casual fan like me (he's already received one from a HAM player). Parents will find a way, just like they do with sports like soccer, but the rest of us cant afford to leave work early for the best entertainment on Monday/Wednesday nights.

There was options to kill the idea, but were quickly dropped. Another option, having guys first the first 10 games, and girls the second 10 was also not liked by the majority.

We concluded, lets wait and see, and talk about the impact on the league after a few weeks in the season. After this season, expect only Saturdays to be doubleheaders with the old format returning on Mon/Weds.

That "All-American" team had 300 names on it. It's not a very exclusive club.

Cmob...what's so significant about '519'? (and, I too probably won't understand it, but it should prove to be highly entertaining!!!)

By the way, nice article that you attached to your message. Very deserving for Mike!

I spared you the embarassment of having your snide comment left up for everyone to see. You're welcome.

Snide comments are what these boards are for, right Drake? :)

PI - Interesting news. I wouldn't want his job come November...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Hunh?? How did I get embroiled in this little controversy?  ;)

Cmob - I don't know about getting Pink to tickle you, but in case you missed her performance on TV last week, here you go.  As David Letterman, the true master of the snide, tongue in cheek comment might say - "interesting gal, that young flamingo, uhhh lady, Pink."

WW,

Something happening with your job in RW? My boss came up to me today and said the sports editor from International Falls was coming down there to take a job... I won't need anything from Sunday's game in RW... Do you want a pic Tuesday night?

If the International Falls job is posted, they've jumped the gun by at least 2-3 weeks unless it's a purely precautionary measure.

My sidekick, who beat TH4L out for the position, got...ummm...removed from her post on Monday. We've opened the position, but haven't even started interviews. The IF guy is very interested, but it's by no means a sure thing.

One of our internet gurus accidentally posted the RW job as sports editor on a few sites, rather than sports writer. My job isn't changing.

TH4L - Pic Tuesday would be great.
