The U should send all 3 M's up to NDSU in exchange for their hoops coach, their football coach and their athletic director! The only problem is I don't think NDSU would want them! BOO YA!

Why would the Bison trade a winning group of guys for a bunch of losers!! You're right LBOW they wouldn't want them. :D

Also: Who's running the Pick'em this year? I volunteer not to and I volunteer MIACmanic or Sumander to run it!!

I probably wont even have time to make picks, much less keep track....Bethel Guy?

It was SD Gusties that did the honors last year.  Hopefully, he's still around.

The season is so close I can smell it.

Allow me to introduce myself as this is my first (out of hopefully many) post on the forum. Well, you can see my screen name on the post, just snowman will work fine.   I have been a long time reader and enjoy analyzing basketball.  I hope I can contribute good insight and discussion about games this year.

About me:
-I love D3 ball, especially the MIAC.
-Graduate of UST (so that's where most of my insight is, and game watching will be)
-TH4L knows who I am.

Well, that should be sufficient for now.  And as for a topic to discuss, there has been a lot of talk about the UST 3.  What are people's thoughts on the suppoting cast?  I think that Dwyer will be very fun to watch, and if he can rise to the challenge of running the helm, UST will be very tough to overthrow.

Maniac,
I see you are doing some recruiting for more posters from UST ;D

Hope all is well!

Snowman forgot his most important trait: Second Team All-American Roof Raiser, behind MVP Keating.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Here I was....all set to have another supporter in the Keating army, and then you had to go and quote Dane Cook. So much for that axis of evil alliance.

My predictions:

6) CAR- Zach Johnson may be able to do it himself.....because thats all CAR has to hope for.

not that 6th place is out of the question but CAR's season doesnt rest only upon the shoulders of one player...if GOOSE NECK! plays like he did last year that would be as nice as a juice tripple burger but i would say their season depends more on Jake Phillips who could be the best PG in the MIAC this year...also i expect tommy drake to bounce out of his sophomore slump and give CAR more balance...Fork was a big loss but the season before they lost their a couple of their top scorers in Baquero and Beste and they seemed to do alright last year....Kalland will have them prepared to play together and be solid

closing in on 519...and thanksgiving GOBBLE GOBBLE GOBBLE!!! turkey turkey turkey sitting on a rock still wearing his holloween costume disguised as a sock...you cant hide turkey you cant trick me turkey i will eat you turkey gobble gobble gobble

So....are you saying the Knights will finish lower than 6th or higher?

i think if GOOSE NECK! trys to carry the knights they could be in the 7th 6th 5th range...if he takes what he gets through the work of the offense like he did last year i think they finish 3rd or 4th...i dont think it is healthy to try to take over in a CAR offense...Kalland sets his offenses up nicely to the stregths of his team to get the most out of each of his players...but like in most offenses (not counting dan monson's because he doesnt have an offense he has a stand around and jack up whatever you find) all must work together to get the motor running....

BEANS BEANS THE MAGICAL FRUIT THE MORE YOU EAT THE MORE YOU TOOT!!!

NDSU WILL BEAT MY GOPHERS AND I HOPE THEY DO CUZ MONSON NEEDS TO BE FIRED!!!

CLOSING IN ON 519 BABY!! NOTHINGS GONNA STOP ME NOW!!! TACOS FOR EVERYONE!!! :o

Dwyer has always been overlooked.  It doesn't help when Sweens was in front of him for two years.  Look at last year's playoffs when Sean got in foul trouble and Dwyer had a big first half and kept us in the game.  He didn't score a lot but he got the ball to the right people and did what he was supposed to do.  That's all he has to do this year is get the ball in the right people's hands.

Not to mention he's crafty as can be and deceptively quick.  He is a key to UST's success.  He's not in the "Big 3" but watch out!

Snowman - you must be lovin this weather! I know I am

abominable_snowman

Shocker, I'll back Keating any day of the week.  ;)

miacwatchmen- yup, do you know who else on the forum is a former player (not just for UST but other teams)?

I don't know of any more players but I know of a ton of sports writers!! Willy is a former player if I remember right.

Here are my bold predictions for the coming MIAC season based on absolutely no research whatsoever:

Despite having more talent than the next three best teams, St. Thomas will underachieve.
Gustavus and Carleton will somehow win games despite having less star power than other teams.
It will be proclaimed that this is finally the year Hamline is for real, only they'll still be mediocre at best.
Bethel will shoot too much and find excuses for why they aren't completely dominating the conference.
Concordia will win a lot of games and home and lose a lot of games on the road.
The refs will absolutely suck and completely ruin every game by making it about themselves instead of the teams.
Mark Hanson will set a personal record of standing from his seat 5 times this season.
The new MIAC sportsmanship will challenge fans' creativity in ridiculing the opposition.

What about SMU,SJU and Auggie Tech?

There's new MIAC sportsmanship? They taking their cues from The Stern? Do we have a new ball too?

I think I've seen those predictions out of you before, Mr. Varnsen.

I think I've seen those predictions out of you come true before, Mr. Varnsen.

I'd say odds look good for them again.
