Bow - you seem to be the man of the hour ..here's another question for you. Are those new unis the Tommies are sporting this season or just poor lighting?

Questions for any or all who care to offer their thoughts realizing we have only played 20% of the conference season:

Have Trewick and the Redbirds arrived, with the nice road win at HAM?

Was BET overrated and did their soft pre season schedule hurt them?

Hambone is 0-3 can/will they still make the playoffs?

How many losses will the #6 team have?

Yep, new threads, they look good.

I think Abe's transfer was bball motivated although I haven't asked him about it. I don't think he would have played this year on varsity.  I'm not sure the coaching staff likes his style but who knows.  Right now UST doesn't seem to have a clear cut pg with 3 guys getting time there so maybe he would have.

What day and what time and where do the tommies play LA-C?

sounds like a lot of ugly basketball last night...i heard CAR was shooting 1 & 1 and they only had one bucket prior to the first two free throws hit with about 13 min left in the half

even if it was a sloppy win...any win at bethal is a good win

I'm not sure how to exactly answer all of these questions but I think that at the current pace, and given the talent of the league this year, we are going to have on hell of a tight playoff race for spots 3-6, possibly 2 as well.  I think both SMU and AUGs have the stuff to deny a team of a spot in the playoffs.

teams usually play like their leader...their leader is usually the point guard, at least on the floor...as far as carleton goes their leader is jake phillips...jake plays sloppy, but gets the job done, so i would expect carleton to do the same thing and win a few sloppy games this year

Well, again it may have been an ugly, yet fortuitous win for the Tommies, but in many other respects, the night was an unveiling of the nu-look Tommies – at least for this poster.  (Before I continue let me add this caveat, the following is all in good natured fun.  I've been a longtime fan of the Tommies & still know a few of the current crop of players.)

Bow - I wouldn't be so quick to critically judge Tom Conboy's basketball attire.  I saw enough from the Tommies last night to write an entire post – and I will.  ;D First of all let me say this -- the Tommies are fortunate they didn't open the conference portion of the schedule in a hostile playing environment such as Gus Young court in St. Peter.  The Gustie crowd would have been on the Tommies relentlessly.

Wonder why? Let's start with a couple of the starters:

Mike Keating – he's got his "Man Mountain Mike" look going on with the longer hair, 2-day beard & icee white kicks & matching white crew socks.

Ike-  Longer lopsided 'fro with headband, black knee high leggings & white uniform.  What?!? I didn't realize I stepped into an indoor soccer match.  ::)

Then there's the 21st c. throwback to the legendary rock band the Beatles – mop-top, floppy haired PG Andy Dwyer.

Thank god for the normal appearances of Lonnie Robinson & Bryan Schnettler, & all's returned more or less to normal -- I think.

About 5 minutes into the 1st half, I start to think I'm seeing double & the bad hot dog I ate made me hallucinate.  I could have sworn I saw Bryan Schnettler's double or twin.  I rub my eyes, check the roster & realize that it's "Mini-Me" otherwise known as Brett Tuma.  From a distance, Tuma looks like a smaller, spitting image of Schnettler, with the shorter hair, similar build, and complexion -- even down to the black Nike shoes that Bryan favors. ;)

Finally, for the coup de grace – a real life playa stepped out on the court for the Tommies.  Straight out of the cracked sidewalk hood of rundown East Eden Prairie  - with shaved scalp, & large cross tattooed on his left arm, Dan "I'm an OG for Life" Grant

Call me shallow, but this fashion show had me cracking up the entire game. ::) ;D :D

totally agree with you drake...whatever happened to putting on the jersey, shorts, some socks and lacing up those shoes and playing...from the way it sounds UST looked more like a team of individuals rather than a team...i think wearing head bands and other things of the sort is stupid...and scott skiles agrees with me...if you all remember just a few weeks ago ben wallace got fined because he wore a head band, which broke the bulls' team rules...i think players need to forget about all the other stuff and just throw on the jersey and go play...and i also think that they should look respectable (short hair, not necessarily buzzed, but short, regular socks that everyone else wears, usually white is fine, but if everyone wants to wear black or purple then do it as a team)...and so what a guy like conboy has shorter shorts...he is a big guy and i don't think he cares because he just scored his 1,000 career point and his scots are looking a lot better than expected and could make a run in the next 2 years before he graduates

Whoa, whoa, whoa D3BO -- I'm not quite in the Scott Skiles camp, as I do believe one should allow for a little self expression on the court.  The challenge is finding the happy medium/balance  between two extremes in not just sports, but a lot of areas of life - sports, career, personal etc. Wallace should have done his homework before he signed with the Bulls.

If you're going to walk outside of the mainstream, people like myself are going to notice.  In a sporting event you'd better be able to back it up.  Last night, the Tommies did.

well the short shorts definitely worked for mark price...and they seemto be working for conboy...maybe more players should wear short shorts...
