And UST won't have an opportunity to try Brian Sames at the point because he decided to hang them up for this year.  He wasn't having any fun and he missed a lot of practice in the beginning of the year due to injuries.  This kind of took him out of the rotation and he never seemed to be able to find his rhythm.

Too bad about T Smith, the race is now wide open for the sweatiest man in the MIAC!!!!!!

WHAT?!?!? Gusties shoot 61.5% from the field, yet still lose to Bethany Lutheran 85-87???

I'd post more but I'm still in a mild state of shock, plus there isn't a game report & I've not really had a chance to analyze the boxscore.

I received a call sharing this shocking news with me tonight. I was told BL hit a game-winner at the buzzer — not sure if it was a 2 or a 3. The caller refused to go into detail because of the appalling nature of the news.

The Gusties defense looks like the main culprit here, since the O shot so well and committed just 15 turnovers. Two guys on BL combined to shoot about 65% and scored like 60 points...I'm busy working so I can't check, but I'd wager they are both quick, powerful guards.

A disappointing loss to say the least  :-\
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

i bet the gac coaches don't consider 15 to's to be so trifling. that number approaches cobber magnitude.
if you didn't foul out, you weren't trying hard enough...nancies

Given the nature of the loss - and it's a pretty bad one - it would be easy to point to poor shooting and/or turnovers for the reason. The number 15 is hardly outrageous given those parameters, thus my statement.

I'm more than a little nervous to watch the Gusties play Saturday in Winona now...

speaking of the gusties i put my ear to the street and heard that group of students from gus took on the JV team in a game and put an absolute whoopin on em  :o...how can a team with a set offense who practices everyday get stomped by a group of players that just plays pick up ball...maybe the gusties are cutting the wrong players or looking in the wrong places to fill their roster??

Willie, Given the "undermanned" status of the Redbirds I would think Saturday should be a good day to watch the Gusties!

Let's get the season rolling again so we can get a little life on this board! ;D

Course, most of my posts could be called such, but here are - "Drivels from Drake"

**The Gusties would have needed to lose the ball 8 more times last night to approach the depths of the Cobbs' ball handling skills this season.

**I did a little research & found that only once this season have the Cobbs turned the ball over fewer than 20 times in a ball game.  That was a decent 13 TOs in a loss against the Johnnies.  Otherwise, the Cobbs are averaging a whooping 23 TOs per game!

**In preparation for tonight's game against the Cobbers, I heard Mac's Abe Woldeslassie went to the MIAC office this morning to turn in his application for a "License to Steal."   Kad-da–boom  ;D

**Bow- as I've said before, I think playing against T. Smith would have been the equivalent of sumo wrestling a seal!  He was a treat to watch & to watch his taller opponents try to guard him.  Off the top of my head, here are a few candidates I would offer for the title of "heaviest sweating man" in the MIAC –

Luke Linz – Cord
Zach Johnson –CARL
Jon DeRock – HAM
Alex McCoy- UST

**CMob - Ooh, I see you're trying to stir things up a bit.  If it's about Koz or the the Gusties, Funbb can't be too far behind.  ;D

On another sidenote, I watched a portion of the Ohio State vs. Indiana game last night on tv.  Who does everyone think looks older -- Freshman phenom Greg Oden or Lebron James?

I couldn't find a photo of him with his beard, but my vote's for Oden.  He looks like he's at least 35!  ;D

Oden looks older in my opinion. He looks alot older than a normal freshman.

He was 10-of-12 on FTs shooting left-handed. That's incredible.
