Board is red hot today. 16 more days to the MIAC Championship. I hope the Godfather and my pal OAS are still in whether we are in St. Paul, Collegeville, Arden Hills, St. Pete or Northfield. I miss OAS and glass No. 15 and its owner. Who can forget TH4L meeting the mom in the parking lot of what is now known as MGM? Or the banner that said "welcome OneArmedScott"? Or Mafia in his skates with a broken wheel last year? I hope everyone can make it out for the championship cokout.

ahh...it makes me so happy it brings a tear to my eye...my good ol roller skates...who knows maybe ill be drinking beer and rolling around in a parking lot for the championship game this year too...one thing i do know for sure is i will roller skate down to northfield this weekend for the CAR STO

cmob - Did you happen to grab a program from their first meeting? I saw it after-the-fact, but the Carlies SID toed the line of decency pretty close I thought...and then got spanked at home. Here's the link if people would like to form their own opinions.

For those of you who don't follow the women's board — which I'll assume is 99% of the posters here — the Carlies SID continued his completely professional, unbiased work with the following blurb from his Wednesday night game story.

"Carleton's leading scorer, Hannah Oken-Berg (So./Portland, Ore./Lincoln), was held to six points and miraculously she shot no free throws."

Maybe he should just start posting on here, complaining about the Asian Sensation, the Mauers and everyone else like the rest of us do. He's clearly leaning in that direction with his work already :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Touchdown Tommy

Very good investigative reporting MR. Wonka.

PI: Ah yes I too remember that Championship Stiftungsfestivities with Johnnie Red, OAS, the liquor store owner, and TH4L meeting/greeting Mrs. Denny.  I'd remind the Godfather over on the fb boards.  He hasn't mentioned anything about this event that I am aware of and we all know OAS is AWOL.  I'd love to fly up for the game, but I'm afraid of the bitter bitter cold.  Twins Spring Training is 10 days away...

...p.s. I tried to put in some pictures but it didnt work.  How do I do it??

*Log in on the board.

*Open another browser & find a photo/headshot you like.

*Rt click & copy the link.

*Return to the other browser & go to a D3 Hoops message board.

*Beneath your poster name click on the "Profile button/icon"

*Go the left hand side of the screen where it reads "Modify Profile"

*Click on "Forum Profile Information"

*This should bring you to a page which read "Profile"

* On the left hand side of the screen place a check mark in the circle that reads "I have my own Pic"

*To the right of that header is an HTML (?)  line that allows you to rt-click & paste the link of the photo link you found earlier.

*Then scroll to the bottom of the page & click the "Change profile" button.

*You should be set.

*If that doesn't work, click the links at the top of each message board titled - "Help.

It's not as complicated as it may appear. Good luck.  ;)

If UST wins the league - GAC is #3 seed
If SJU wins the league - Bethel is #3 seed

So if BU and GAC win out, Semi's would match up BU @ UST and GAC @ SJU (both away teams looking to venge monkey stomps in recent weeks).

What a great scenario. Obviously, the primary concern for Gustie and Royal fans would be winning their own games. But ordinarily, you'd think we'd be watching SJU and UST to see about potential semifinal matchups. (Of course, we should be thinking about the quarterfinals, but we'll leave that part to the players and coaches). The vengeance factor makes it that much more fun. I love sports!

first off i would like to say there is no decency on either side of the ball when it comes to journalism ive experienced it from both sides...there is always someone ripping someone else whether its the journalist talking about a player or team or a player or team being critical of the media...people will form opinions and some people will agree with it and some wont...tough luck oh well if you feel one way or the other...that game was actually at STO but the facts are the facts and thats what was stated in the article...it gave props to st. olafs top players in the article and did not say anything that wasnt true...the world is not hunky dorey...if you think that was bad i hope you dont ever read the pioneer press or star trib because they constantly rip my gopher teams and those news sources are the top 2 in the state ripping their own home town team...good thing olaf isnt on the same level as my gopher basketball team or you could have put up about 10 different links from pioneer press and star trib writers...CAR got beat last time and they got beat bad...doesnt matter what you think of the article STO came to play and CAR didnt...you can make an opinion on one article if you want...i never went to either of the schools but i did attend the u of m and our college paper ripped wisconsin and iowa every chance it got...that is just the nature of the beast and thats what will happen when you have a rival that is that big...it happens on all levels from nba, to college to high school

all i have to say about it

it is what it is

CAR has dominated until their last meeting...STO put a spanking on them last time...and i hope it gets turned around on saturday

im sure SJU wouldnt have any problems if their school writers said that UST was over rated or vice versa with a GAC writer saying that after Wed nights game

cmob - You're confused by my point, I think.

An SID is, by definition, a purveyer of the truth, using stats and facts as their food and water. Opinions are NOT expressed by such people (at least not in print); they are simple asked to boil down the details and tell us what happened, without putting any sort of spin on it. The conflict of interest in doing it any other way should be obvious.

Newspapers, columnists and wee posters like us use facts to paint a broader picture of the way things are, ripping those who are underachieving and/or the arch enemies with work colored by creative examples and opinions. While it's often a fun and enjoyable pasttime, that's not an SID's job description.

For example, rather than saying Carleton's leading scorer "miraculously" didn't shoot any free throws, he could have used the stats to make his point instead. Perhaps, "Oken-Berg was held 10 points below her average by a sturdy Cardinal defense. She finished 3-for-11 from the field and did not attempt a free throw, despite coming in averaging 16 points and better than four attempts per game from the charity stripe."

Since both teams finished with 14 fouls apiece and the FT "disparity" was 11-10, you can't really make your case with those stats. But, if you felt the refs were so bad that it truly warranted mentioning at all (the stats seem to suggest otherwise), you can say so in much more subtle ways. And without letting your particular bias shine through.

These are simply small examples that bring into question bigger issues. I mean, these are the people (SIDs) Pat is counting on to be objective in voting for his postseason awards. If they can't even do so when dealing with crosstown rivals or with referees — no matter how hated or bad the situation may be — how can we/he expect a vote that isn't equally colored with emotion?

Wow, must be alot of Bosses cracking down today!! The board has never been this silent before a game all season! And there is a playoff hunt on.....(well not really but hey i was rolling).

2/10/2007 (Saturday)
Macalester @ Bethel, 1 p.m.---- BET heads in playoffs with miny headed of steam.
Saint Mary's @ Augsburg, 1 p.m.Auggies by default.
Concordia @ St. Thomas, 1 p.m. ----Angry Tomcats take it out on Linz's and Co.
St. Olaf @ Carleton, 1 p.m. ---- Bain returns to MVP form ( :D) to lead STOLAF to victory.  ;D ;D
Gustavus @ Hamline, 1 p.m. -----Gusties continue to crush MIAC competition.

"By mind the world is led, by mind the world is drawn. And all men own the sovereignty of mind."

+K , +K (When time allows) for that piece Willy.
"By mind the world is led, by mind the world is drawn. And all men own the sovereignty of mind."

demoney

Hamline wins last three games of season and go 8-12 in the miac, Saint Mary's goes 2-1 to finish of the season and also finish 8-12 in the miac. St. Olaf loses the last two games of the season and just like hamline and st. marys finish 8-12. The remarkable thing here is that Hamline would hold the tie breaker correct.  Hamline would have beaten three teams that are ranked higher and they have also beat st. olaf twice even though they lost to st. marys twice, st. olaf beat st. marys twice so it would go directly to wins about those teams tied, which therefore hamline would win the tiebreaker and make it to the miac playoffs for two seasons in a row a thing they have not done for a while. You might be thinking this is far fetched but it is a possibility and i know i wont be suprised when it happens!!!! It should be an interesting end of the conference play!!! :o :o :o :o

ahh...thank you for clearing up the confusion...i often get confused...i understand your point...i think CAR has a student intern making the write ups for some of the games so that might be why it was the way it is...i can see clearly now the rain is gone
