In case any one is wondering the bandwagon is doing just fine! After yesterday's derailment we had her in the shop today for 4 fresh tires and fuel! It will be good to go by Wednesday!

Sum,

After the damage done to the Bandwagon on Saturday, I thought you might be in the market for a trade in.  I have 3 models I can offer you.  They range from classical to modern.  Personally, I prefer the redneck model with the monster tires because I think it works best in the harsh Minnesota winters.  Why don't you visit with Fins and Watch about it and see what they think.  I suspect Fins' choice will be obvious.  Watch, on the other hand, may lean toward the classical.

By the way, Sum, delivery can be made without the Piper corpse as that burial has been completed.

Nites, appreciate the offer, but I think will stick with the one that brought us to the dance! A few adjustments here and there and we are set for this week.

What are the thoughts on tonight's games? BET and STOLAF split during the year each winning at home. Any chance of Koz's crew pulling the upset?

CAR has beat GAC twice so far what are their chances of making it a trifecta?

It's money time so I don't see the Olies upsetting the Royals on the road.  Bethel has the talent to win the title, but I don't know if they have the big game experience to pull it off.

As for the Carleton/GAC matchup, I think GAC will prevail because (1) it's tough to beat a team 3 times in one year, (2) GAC is at home, (3) GAC, although incredibly inconsistent, seems to rebound well after each flat performance, and (4) Hanson is too good a coach to lose again.

What are your thoughts?

Frank the Tank has a nice recap of the MIAC playoffs in the Daily Planet  .

How bad is Wittwer's injury, anyone have the inside scoop on this? Could be a major factor tonight.

Why did Smith shorten the bench against the Tommies by reducing minutes for the bench players?  Granted, teams frequently pare down playing rotations in the playoffs and in big games, but I thought the Johnnies depth was one of the team's strong points.  It's hard to fault the bench players for not contributing more when they weren't given much floor time.  As poorly as Lieser and Westman were shooting, it may have been prudent to give someone else a chance to step up.

CAR has beat GAC 5 consecutive games...this makes me nervous...GAC is good and i think it will be difficult to win at GAC in a playoff atmosphere...with that said CAR has the confidence to do it so i think it will be a great game...

Not sure why he shortened the bench. In the first game the bench got 62 minutes and only 43 in Saturday's game.

Ditto, about the JV game.  Watch, what happened to the vaunted JV D in the 2nd half?  One of the highlights in the 2nd half was when a Johnnny defender guarding a baseline  in-bound play against the Tommies accidentally kicked the ball up & off the scoreboard 25 -30 feet off the floor.  I thought I was at a soccer match!  ;)

That situation may be the highest I have seen a ball kicked in my life. It flew off his foot like a rocket!

Maybe that kid should try out for placekicker for the football team next year.   ;D

From what I understand the Johnnies could use a little help in that department.  That might not be bad idea for someone to bring to Gags.  ;)

Wittwer has played with the injury since early in the season. It shouldn't be any more of a factor today than it was 2 months ago — he won't be healthy until next year.
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Drake,

I thought that Wittwer was going to be one of the 5 best players in the league this year, but his performance has been nowhere near that level.  What struck me as odd when I was looking at his stats last week is that he is only averaging 26.3 minutes of PT per game, which is only 1.2 minutes above his average last year when he was the league's best 6th man.  That's not what you would expect in the case of the player who is supposed to be the "go to" guy.  Wittwer is actually only third on the Gusties (behind Sowden and Olson) in PT per game.  I assume he is always on the floor at crunch time?  Do you have any insight into how Hanson doles out minutes?  With the way the Gusties have struggled this year, I am surprised that Hanson doesn't have his best athlete on the floor more than 26 minutes per game.

Willy,

I take it that's the reason for Wittwer's lower than expected minutes???

Dwyer could barely get on the court before a foul was called!  It was one of those games that no matter what you do, it seem like the refs are out gunning for you.

Tuma and Zitlow did a nice job off the bench for UST filling in for D Town.

What is Wittwer's injury that has been bothering him the whole year? His back???

Willy, is it a lower back injury. I sure didn't notice anything when they played the J's a while back.
