Anyone want to bet Bakko gets the Championship?

oAs.

If the Sensation gets the Championship game both teams should just try and stall. That way he can't make any bad calls! Shoot only threes, no drives or dribbling!

I've been reading the board for awhile now and I know its playoff time, but I'd like to go back to the Tommie jokes and borrow one from a friend:

Q: Whats the difference between a Tommie girl and a toilet?

A: One doesn't follow you around after you use it.

Ah another Johnnie fan, welcome to the board. + K for the joke!

Sumander...thanks for backing me up...with the numbers

Say does anyone know, will there be new regional rankings out tomorrow?  Just wondering how far the j's will fall.  I also wonder if they lose in the semi-finals are they still the top "Pool C" team on the board?

VOJ, I believe there will be another ranking out tomorrow. By the QOWI calculated by PC It looks like the J's slipped behind UW OshKosh to #4 in the Region.

watchmen, not exactly, although I'm glad you liked the joke. I was already negative in karma before my second post, so I appreciate you making me neutral again. There is another version of the joke which is much more dirty, I thought that was PG-13 at worst. I'd also like to see Bakko try to run the show if he worked a Grinnell type game.

Thanks for making me feel welcome watchmen and CMob!

I read that there will not be any more regional rankings this year. That was in the Multi-Regional topics board, where Pat C and Greg S generally would call someones bluff on an erroneous statement.

As far as the Johnnies Pool C bid, Id say they are in. Their QOWI is 19th in the country (10.318), which is only one spot behind Oshkosh, a team that is widely considered a lock for the tournament and ranked 7th in the latest Top 25 poll. SJU is 19-3 in region, and compared to a team like La Crosse, who is getting some attention as a possible Pool C team at 17-7 in region and a 46th ranked QOWI (9.857), Id say they are safe. Its also hard for me to believe that a conference like the MIAC, even though it is down this season, wouldnt get two teams into the NCAA field.

Pat, Sorry to bother you , Question came up over on the MIAC board...will there be any more regional rankings this year?

I'm not Pat, but the answer is yes.  The last public NCAA regional rankings will be released tomorrow, with games through this past Sunday, I believe.  There will also be a final regional ranking this Sunday that the selection committee will use to make the actual tournament selections.  However, that ranking will not be made public.

Yeah, just saw that sumander. Thanks for bringing that up in the Pool C thread. Good to get some clarification on that subject.

Not to provide SJU with any extra motivation, but I'd feel confident wagering against their inclusion if the Gusties pull the upset tomorrow.

They'd be 18-7 overall, with an 18-4 region record. With all but two of those wins coming against an extremely down league, that's hardly that impressive. Perhaps more telling would be a 6-4 record in their last 10, including two losses that would fall in the BAD category (@SMU, home vs. GAC). This isn't the time of season where you can often get away with such a bad stretch.

In the "what have you done for me lately" world, the Johnnies would be pinning their hopes on the mercy of a committee who is staring at two straight losses and an early exit from their conference tourney.

I'm not sure this is relevant to the NCAA committee who makes the selections, but the 73-49 loss to a 16-9 Ursinus team might look worse now than it did when it happened. I have no idea how good the AMCC is as a conference, but the 64-59 loss to Penn-State Behrend doesn't look that bad, since it finished the regular season with an 18-6 record. While these might remain periphery elements in the process, the embarrassment remains.

Also, "beefing up" that nonconference schedule with two wins against 7-15 UM-Morris aught to be illegal — especially when you lost your other 3 non-MIAC games. That's a downright Bethel-esque schedule :)
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Hey Drake why don't you introduce yourself at games?  You seem to want to keep a low profile (re: incognito) among the posters.  Got something to hide????

Like I said, based solely on entertainment value, I wanted a Royals-Tommies clash. I dont like to be overconfident, but i'll tell ya that im not too worried about the semifinal tomorrow night. It seemed as if the Oles played near perfection to pull it out against Bethel, and caught a few nice breaks late in the contest to seal the W. I dont want to marginalize St Olafs victory, because they did waht they needed to do and pulled off the upset, but I dont think it will be enough against a better Tommies team. Its a mix of not thinking the Oles can replicate last nights sterling performance, and that fact that even if they do, I dont think it will be enough to win at the Shoe. Rosefelt has a history of owning Bain, and Butala tends to shoot poorly against the Tommies. Bergstorm and Banick would have to be HUGE for them to pull it out, and much like last night, the opposing teams best shooter (in this case, Schnettler) would have to be cold. I just dont see all those things falling into place, and if the regular season matchups are a indicator for what to expect tomorrow, 25 and 32 point UST victories, it wont be pretty.

TDT,

Are you getting bored at your SJU janitorial job?  When did you start following basketball?

If Bethel had won they would be on their way to Collegeville.  As the top seed, UST hosts the lowest remaining seed in the semifinals.
