I also heard the Hanson rumor...must have been an interesting display, as that's pretty out of character.

Miller was a good guy who was getting and keeping recruits to build a program like he did at Olaf. I can't speak to Wohler as a person - I've only heard stories stemming from his, um, imbibing - but his inability to keep his team together may speak volumes to the restless AD.

cmob - Can you test the roads with your blades and let me know? I'm trying the Rochester-to-St. Cloud-to St. Paul thingy today and don't know if it's even worth trying...
I don't hate Duke. I just hate all their players, coaches and fans.

Wow, Maniac getting a little nasty with his barbs at the Johnnies. Becareful maniac or else I WILL pound you after the game if the Johnnies don't.

QuoteFYI - I just got back from a lunch run to UST.  They have roughly 200 tickets left.

Any word on how  the St. John's ticket  sale is going?  Anyone?

300 tickets were to be released at 11:00 a.m., 200 for students and 100 for adults. SJU basketball took 91 of the 100 just prior to the start of the sale, the remaining 9 tickets and the 200 student tix were snarfed right up by those who were waiting in line. I kid you not.
Why doesn't St. Thomas build itself a gym instead of downtown libraries for the future metrosexuals? And BTW, thanks for the 300 tickets.  :P
be glad the MIAC offices forced those 300 to be set aside for the vistors :)
the 20,000 seat on campus arena will be built about the same time Collegeville's population breaks 10,000

and why does the basketball team need 91 student tickets? Do they plan to sit in the bleachers watching UST show them how the game is played? I cold see them needing a few adult tix for ma and pa, but 91 student tix??  WW should look into exposing the scalping scandal...it would be a boost to his career

Maniac-
The 91 tickets were from the 100 adult tickets. Let's hope you can write better than you can read. :D

SJU basketball purchased the 91 tickets in order to take care of players' parents, alumni, etc.

Johnnie-Tommie III plus a snow storm!! CMOB you may need to take the bus to the game today! The rollerskates may get messed up in this snow.

My bad on the misread...I'd try to blame it on the OSB nuns I had in grade school, but that was back in the days of stone tablets and chisels. (I should have put a few smileys in that post to make it clear I was attempting tongue-in-cheek humor)

Safe journeys to all to and from the game... the roads weren't too bad earlier, but with the forecast of more snow around gametime, BE CAREFUL. Id hate to see that psychadelic bus get dinged, Fins! ;D 8) :) ;) :D

I don't know what data you're using to make that assumption about SJU not being a Pool C lock, Maniac, but if you look over in the Pool C room you'll see just how well SJU shapes up nationally: 10.391 QOWI coming into tonight (good for 15th in the nation, and five of the teams ahead of them have already clinched Pool A berths), and a sparkling .870 regional winning percentage.

The Johnnies are a lock, Maniac. St. John's is in, win or lose. Book it.

Looks like the Tommies are having their way with St. John's at halftime. St. Thomas by 18.

Well I was correct about the championship tonight.  What a route by the Tommies.  Not even a close game.  St. Thomas will use this as momentum and do some damage in the Little Dance.  SJU should be thankful for a good season where they probably over achieved.  Now they will get in the tourney and get murdered again.  Too bad so sad.

Westman box score OUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

St Thomas never trails as they dominate the Johnnies tonight. Keating has a very good game, 15 and 11 with 6 dimes, as hes one of four Tommie starters in double figures. Big contributions from those outside of "The Big 3" were integral in the blowout. Robinsons productivity from the semis carried over to this game (11 pts), and Tuma (7 pts) played quality minutes filling in for a foul plagued Dwyer. Rosefelt and Schnettler were effective, though Rosefelt was bumped around quite a bit and that hampered his ability to get to the rim. Schnettler earned a lot of his off penetration. Tommies took very good care of the ball, and maintained a great pace on the offensive end. On the defensive end of the floor, UST pestered the perimeter and was challenging almost every shot the Johnnies took (1-16 from 3, 33% from the field overall). Nice bounce back, in terms of defensive intensity, from the semis, though they will have to box out a lot better and limit second chance points (15 O Bds).

Westman and Lieser were complete no-shows, in a repeat of their atrocious performance last Saturday. C Schafer again had a good game, but didnt get nearly enough touches from his teammates. Thats the problem when your offense is based on your outside scorers creating opportunity for your posts. As weve seen the last two times at the Shoe, it really doesnt work against a team that plays solid D like the Tommies. Ohme, who played hard, was out of control and ineffective. Brink, who I read in the days leading up to tonights game would be the "X-Factor", did absolutely nothing, and the bench of SJU was outplayed and outworked by the UST subs overall. It was Fogt who kept SJU afloat in the 1st half with 8 points, before UST took over completely and didnt look back. In all honesty, based on what Ive seen the last two games from SJU, I cant understand how they will be in the NCAA field next week.

Ive seen SJU play 4 times (UST 3, BU 1) this season, and someone is going to have to explain to me how they are considered a big time team. They dont seem to be as good as their record indicates, considering UST is the only tournament type team they have played (and im not counting SCSU), and the Tommies have dominated them twice. If, like sju4life would have us believe, this is all due to the incliment environment that is The Shoe, then I guess they will be fine come first round next week. As for the Tommies, theyll get to enjoy the friendly confines for a game or two. Thats a nice reward, and they deserve it.
